Definitions

  • the invention comprises dermatological or cosmetic preparations, in particular based on an oil-in-water emulsion, which are thickened and / or stabilized with at least one anionic polymer, preferably with an acrylic acid-based polymer. Additionally, the formulations comprise at least two further rheology modifying polymers which increase the high shear viscosity of the formulation by at least 200% and the low shear viscosity by no more than 50%.
  • the combination of anionic thickeners and at least two rheology-modifying polymers result in the cosmetic or dermatological preparations having a sensory richness when distributed compared to the preparations without this combination.
  • Skin care products especially in the form of lotions or creams for the entire body, should provide the skin with long-term moisture, strengthen the skin barrier and keep the skin smooth, soft and supple. Dry skin tends to look and feel dandruff and is characterized by a low water and lipid content in the stratum corneum.
  • Skin care products therefore contain, on the one hand, water-binding compounds, such as e.g. Glycerine ("moisurizer”), and a number of lipids to strengthen the natural skin barrier, the higher the proportion of water-binding substances or lipids, the more pronounced the skin care aspect is.
  • water-binding compounds such as e.g. Glycerine (“moisurizer”)
  • lipid content strongly influences the sensory properties of the products.
  • a high proportion of lipids leads to a more pronounced, greasy / oily residue on the skin, but also ensures a particular richness when distributing.
  • the consumer associates richness with the aspect of care or skin indulgence.
  • Polymers are used in skin care preparations, in particular the lotions, usually only to stabilize the emulsion or to adjust the viscosity. Widely used are polymers based on acrylic acid, which are usually crosslinked and neutralisert with a suitable base.
  • Alkali Swellable Emulsions This class of rheology modifiers is called “Alkali Swellable Emulsions" (ASE), the INCI name is “Carbomer”. Hydrophobically modified variants which have a stronger interaction with the emulsifiers and lipids are also used. This is referred to as “Hydrophically Modified Alkali Swellable Emulsions (HASE), INCI is usually found to be” Acrylates / CI O-30 Alkyl Acrylates Crosspolymer. "Other classes of
  • Rheology-modifying polymers are known, for example, "Hydrophobically Modified Ethoxylated Polyurethanes” (HEUR) or “Associative Cellulose Thickeners” (ACT), but these are less widely used in lotions because of sensory disadvantages or higher raw material prices.
  • HEUR grade polymers are used particularly where compatibility problems prevent the use of the classical ASE or HASE thickeners, e.g. in cationic systems (incompatibility with the anionic ASE / HASE thickener), or low pH formulations. Due to their associative properties they interact with hydrophobic formulation components such as lipids and surfactants, which is why the structure structure is often favored in these systems.
  • PVP polyvinylpyrrolidones
  • Example formulations with such polymers can be found, for example, in patents by ISP from 1992.
  • US Pat. No. 5,716,634 describes aqueous gels with crosslinked vinyllactam polymers.
  • WO 19920701 1 formulations are shown with crosslinked PVP and in EP 1 105092 formulations are disclosed which may contain a crosslinked PVP as a thickener.
  • US 6024942 discloses sunscreen formulations which may contain a crosslinked PVP as thickener.
  • a cosmetic or dermatological preparations in particular based on an oil-in-water emulsion which stabilized with at least one polymeric anionic thickener. is thickened, at least two other rheology-modifying polymers are added so that the viscosity of the preparation at low shear (measured with a rotary rheometer with the name Rheomat R 123 from proRheo GmbH with the measuring body 1) by less than 50%, at high shear (at 300 Pa, as measured with a shear stress controlled, air-bearing rheometer SR-2000 from Rheometric Scientific, plate / plate 25 mm, 1 mm gap, shear stress ramp from 0 to 400 Pa at 40 Pa / min and 32 ° C) but by at least 200 % elevated.

  • the use of at least two rheology-modifying polymers in cosmetic or dermatological preparations containing at least one polymeric anionic thickener to increase the viscosity of the preparation at high shear by at least 200% and the viscosity at low shear by not more than 50%. If you just increase the viscosity of a skincare preparation, so not only at high, but also at low shear, you get no lotion, but a cream. Although this cream feels richer, it is not pleasant to apply and distribute like a lotion.
  • rheology-modifying polymers in particular to a proportion of less than 5% by weight, more preferably to a proportion of less than 2% by weight, with at least one polymeric anionic thickener are the advantageous rheological properties achieved.
