Description

The technical field of the invention concerns presses intended to produce, by means of tools, various operations on objects to be formed. Conventionally, a press consists of a lower plate and an upper plate intended to receive tools, as well as a motorization designed to bring these two plates together, in order to print a particular shape to the object located between the tools. The positioning of the tools on the trays holds a primordial place in the success of the forming operation of the object. More specifically, the presses according to the invention therefore have the particularity of involving trays allowing a good positioning of the tools. The term "forming" is to be interpreted generally, and may include, for example, embossing or stamping.

To understand the invention, it should be noted that the notions of "pre-positioning" and "pre-centering" are equivalent. Similarly, it is necessary to distinguish the "pre-positioning or pre-centering" pins and the centering pins, which intervene at different stages in the process of fixing the tool on the press plate.

Presses equipped with a pre-positioning device for a tool on a tray exist and have already been the subject of patents. One can, for example, quote the patent EP0308370B1 , which relates to a device for fixing, in a well-defined position, a part on a part housing or a tool on a tool housing, said device implementing the cooperation of projecting centering pins belonging to the part housing or tool, with centering holes located on a workpiece holder or a tool holder. The principle of this device is that an element of the workpiece holder or holder, comprising a centering hole, is mounted with the possibility of elastic displacement, with respect to a fixed centering orifice, of said workpiece carrier or said toolbox.

The presses according to the invention are provided with a device for pre-positioning a tool on a plate, particularly involving the interaction of at least one peg with at least one groove, said pin and said groove belonging equally to the tool or the plate, and having a locking means for capturing the pin in the groove at a predetermined position, in order to fix the tool in the appropriate position on the tray, without risk of inadvertent deviation, may affect the quality of the forming operation on the object. This pre-positioning or pre-centering phase takes place before the actual centering phase, and is made necessary because, on the one hand, of the large mass and volume of the tools to be centered, making their manipulation hazardous, and on the other hand, the precision sought for the location of the tool on the plate. This pre-positioning device is therefore accurate, reliable, and reproducible, and its speed of implementation provides a significant time saving in the implementation of tools on the press platens.

On connaît de telles presses par EP 0 286 553 , DE 36 37 556 et WO 92/20473 .Such presses are known by EP 0 286 553 , DE 36 37 556 and WO 92/20473 .

Le document EP 0286553 décrit une presse conformément au préambule de la revendication 1 et un procédé conformément au préambule de la revendication 7.The document EP 0286553 discloses a press according to the preamble of claim 1 and a method according to the preamble of claim 7.

The subject of the present invention is a press intended to form an object, comprising a lower plate and an upper plate intended to receive tools, as well as a motorization intended to bring the plates together in order to make the tools interact, between which is placed the object to be treated, said press having a pre-positioning device and a device for centering at least one tool on at least one plate. The main technical characteristic of a press according to the invention is that the pre-positioning device involves at least one pin integral with the tool and at least one groove integral with the plate, said pin being inserted into said groove for allow a guide and then a pre-positioning of the tool on the plate, the groove having locking means for freezing the pin in a predetermined position. Generally, the tools used for a press are heavy and bulky, making their handling difficult and hazardous, especially when it comes to securing them to the trays of said press, in the agreed position. Often, these tools are conveyed approximately, above the trays, by means of a crane, and it is therefore essential to facilitate their manual pre-positioning on said trays, by means of simple centering devices, ne requiring neither complicated maneuvers, nor too intense physical efforts. Once the tools are placed in their final working position on the trays, it becomes equally essential, to temporarily freeze them in these positions before definitively centering them, so as to avoid any untimely deviation, however minimal it may be, which would require a new setting in heavy and painful position, or which would generate an approximate final fixing of the tools on the trays, with possible consequences on the quality of the forming operation to be performed on the object. The centering device can be ensured, for example, by other pins provided and dimensioned for this purpose, interacting with very specific orifices of the trays. Centering pins and orifices interacting in the framework of the centering device of the tool on the plate; can indifferently belong to the tray or the tool.

In fact, the objects are generally suspended from an overhead crane, which routes them, approximately, above the trays, and tend to slightly swing. It is therefore important to simplify their manual pre-positioning, by favoring the entry of the pre-centering pins into the appropriate grooves, at a guide ramp. In this way, the pins can be easily and quickly positioned in the grooves, avoiding the operator to execute an approach phase too precise, always difficult to succeed with heavy tools and bulky

According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, said end of the grooves is substantially triangular in shape. For this configuration, the widest part materializes the opening of the groove, and the narrowest part is extended by said groove. This form is preferred because it can be achieved by means of a customary machining and well mastered.

The longitudinal axis of the pin is substantially vertical, said pin being secured to the lower part of the tool, and the groove extends in a substantially horizontal direction, to the surface of the lower plate. In this way, the pre-centering or pre-positioning of the tool takes place in a substantially horizontal plane of the plate.

The locking means involve a promontory at the bottom of the groove, extending in a substantially vertical direction, and against which comes to lean, by means of a prestressed member, a movable stop. Under the effect of pressure, the stop can be momentarily pushed away from the promontory, and when this pressure is removed, the stop has a tendency to come back against the promontory under the effect of the prestressed member. In other words, the locking means comprise the groove, the promontory and the movable stop. The bottom of the grooves materializes the lowest part of the grooves, and the promontory is comparable to a protuberance, which emerges upwards.

Advantageously, the stop is placed in the groove behind the promontory with respect to the entrance of said groove, and is movable in a direction parallel to the axis of the groove, the pin being intended to push the stop of the promontory, during the pre-positioning phase of the tool on the plate, in order to come jam between said headland and said abutment. In other words, the pre-centering pin enters the groove at one of its ends. The tool is then moved horizontally, so as to advance the pin in the groove, until it exceeds the promontory by pushing the movable stop. Once the stop sufficiently far from the promontory, the tool is lowered so that the pawn comes to wedge between the promontory and the movable stop. In this way, the tool is fixed in the direction of the groove.

Advantageously, the pins are mounted permanently in the tool, said pins being retractable in said tool, when it is placed on a flat surface.

Preferably, for the pre-positioning of a tool, the plate has two parallel grooves. According to a first preferred embodiment of the invention, the grooves are located at the same abscissa relative to the axis of horizontal displacement of the tool, as the pins progress in the grooves. In other words, the grooves are aligned along an axis perpendicular to their longitudinal axis. According to a second preferred embodiment of the invention, the grooves are aligned, so that their longitudinal axes are aligned with one another. In this way, relative to the direction of propagation of the pins in the grooves, they are positioned one behind the other.

Advantageously, the final centering of the tool is performed by means of centering pins integral with the plate and being inserted into specific orifices of the tool.

The invention is limited neither to a single kind of tool nor to a single tool. It is not more limited by the number of pins and grooves. Two different or identical tools can, for example, be pre-positioned and fixed on the same plate, from a method according to the invention.

The presses according to the invention have the advantage of being prepared quickly and reliably, thanks to a simple and quick process to implement, pre-centering and centering a tool on a tray. They therefore have the advantage of having a certain modularity, being able to adapt, at the level of their easily interchangeable tools, to different objects to be treated. Finally, this operation of implanting a tool on a press platen, from a pre-positioning and centering method according to the invention, can be performed by a single operator.

Referring to the figure 1 , a press 1 according to the invention comprises a horizontal lower plate 2 and a tool 3 intended to be fixed on said plate 2, in a predetermined position. This press also includes, not visible in this figure, a upper tray on which is secured a tool, and a motor for bringing the two plates 2 together, so as to cooperate the two tools 3, in order to print a particular shape to an object, initially affixed to the tool 3 The lower plate 2. The tool 3 intended to be secured to the lower plate 2 is in the general form of a rectangular parallelepiped, also found in substantially horizontal position. This tool 3 is extended horizontally, at its lower part, by two protuberances 4 each traversed by a pin 5 of pre-centering or pre-positioning, vertical, these protuberances 4 each having a horizontal upper face 7 and a lower face horizontal. These pins 5 are cylindrical and parallel to each other, and each have an enlarged flat head 6, said pins 5 being positioned on each of the two protuberances 4, so that their enlarged head 6 emerges from the upper face 7 of each of said protuberances 4 into being in contact with said face 7, and so that the pin 5 emerges mainly from the underside of these protuberances 4. These pre-centering pins 5 are placed permanently in the protuberances 4, and can be retracted into the tool 3, when it is placed on the floor. The side 8 of the tool 3, from which protrude the two protuberances 4, comprises a central notch 9, made in an advance extending parallel to the two protuberances 4, this notch 9 having a U-shaped profile. The upper face 10 of the tray bottom 2 comprises a multiplicity of centering pins 11 aligned along one of its axes of symmetry, each centering pin 11 being intended to cooperate with each notch 9 of the tool 3. This upper surface 10 also comprises two parallel grooves 12, each having a flared end 13, and intended to interact with the pre-centering pins 5 of the tool 3, these two grooves 12 being disposed on either side of the axis of symmetry, along which are aligned the centering pins 11, the longitudinal axis of each of said grooves 12 being parallel to this axis of symmetry.

Referring to the figure 2 each groove 12 comprises a flared end 13, made to serve as input to the corresponding pre-centering pin 5 of the tool 2, this end 13 preferably having a substantially triangular shape. The opening of the groove 12 is embodied by the widest part of the V-shaped end, the narrowest part of this end 13, being extended by a rectilinear portion 14 of constant section, and of limited length. The entrance to groove 12, which is located at the level of flared portion 13, present at its bottom, a promontory 15, extending vertically so as to raise said bottom, the rectilinear portion 14 of the groove 12 being occupied by a movable stop 23 and a fixed stop 16, said fixed stop 16 bearing against the wall of the groove 12, embodying the other end of the groove 12, that is to say that which is opposite to the flared end 13. A pre-positioning pin 5 is shown in FIG. good position, without the tool 3 that supports it. The arrow 17 represents the direction of movement of the tool 3 during the pre-positioning phase, and shows the beginnings of the interaction between the pre-positioning pin 5 and the corresponding groove 12.

This particular profile of the promontory 15, is intended to promote the entry of the pre-centering pin 5 in the groove 12, then its progression in said groove 12, and finally its locking behind said promontory 15, with no possibility of return in a horizontal direction. The rectilinear portion 14 of the groove 12 comprises a movable stop 23 and a fixed abutment 16, bearing both against the bottom of the groove 12 and against an upper cover 22 fixed to the end of the rectilinear portion 14 opposite at the flared end 13 of the groove 12. The two stops 16, 23 are mutually pushed against one another by a prestressed spring 24 surrounding an axis 25 parallel to the longitudinal axis of the straight portion 14 of the groove 12, and joining said stops 16,23. The maximum distance separating said abutments 16, 23, in the absence of any external stress, is regulated by a recess 26 located on the lower face of the cover 22, each abutment 16, 23 then bearing against two opposite edges of this recess. In the pre-positioning or centering phase, the tool 3 to be fixed on the corresponding plate 2, is moved so that the pre-centering pin 5 can possibly come to scrape the promontory 15 by the flared entry 13 of the groove 12, then advance in the rectilinear portion 14 of the groove 12 following the horizontal upper face 19 of the promontory 15, to finally push the movable stop 23, to come and lock between the vertical wall 20 of the promontory 15 and the movable stop 23 .

Referring to Figures 4a, 4b and 4c a method of centering and fixing a tool 3 on a platen 2 of press 1 according to the invention, follows the following steps. The tool 3 is routed, generally by an overhead crane above the plate 2 on which it must be centered and fixed. This routing often results in a rather approximate positioning of the tool 3 with respect to its precise location of attachment to said plate 2. A more precise positioning of the tool 3, by small keys, is then performed manually by a single operator, to align each pre-centering pin 5 on the longitudinal axis of the groove 12 of the plate 2, which corresponds to it, the grooves 12 of said plate 2 being parallel to each other. Once this alignment is effective, the tool 3 is lowered, as shown by the arrow 28 of the figure 4a , so as to have the emerging end 27 of each pre-centering pin 5 in front of the groove 12 corresponding thereto. As illustrated by arrow 29 at figure 4b , the tool 3 is then moved manually in a direction parallel to the longitudinal axis of the grooves 12, in order to engage in the flared portions 13 grooves 12 and then block each centering pin 5, between the promontory 15 and the stop 23 of groove 12. Referring to FIG. figure 4c once this pre-positioning is achieved and locked, the tool 3 is lowered again, as indicated by the arrow 30, to come into contact with the plate 2, and insert the centering fixing pins 11 into the housings 9 of FIG. the tool 2 provided for this purpose, this bringing into contact causing the partial removal of the centering pins 5 of the protuberances 4 of the tool, which support them, as illustrated by the arrow 31. It should be noted that the grooves 12 are parallel to each other on the plate 2, and they can be aligned on the same axis, one behind the other relative to the direction of movement of the tool 2 to insert the centering pins 5 in said grooves 12, be located at the same abscissa with respect to this axis of displacement.
