Die Verriegelung einer neuen in den Greifer einzusetzenden Spulenkapsel mit einer Spule erfolgt durch axiales Einschieben der Spulenkapsel in den Greifer, bis diese vollständig in der Ausnehmung im Greifer liegt. Es sind dazu und danach keine weiteren Verriegelungshandlungen notwendig. Im Nähbetrieb wird die vom Verriegelungselement gehaltene Spule durch das Verriegelungselement in keiner Art und Weise gebremst, weil letzteres die Spule im Betriebszustand nicht berührt. Beim Einlegen der Spule in die Spulenkapsel wird diese kraftschlüssig vom Verriegelungselement gehalten, sodass beim Einsetzen der Spulenkapsel mit der Spule in den Greifer, die Spule nicht aus der Spulenkapsel herausfallen kann. Eine wieder aufgefüllte Unterfadenspule 5 wird von oben in die Spulenkapsel 3 eingelegt. Dabei gleitet sie unter Aufbringen eines gewissen Widerstands über eine Schrägfläche 57 am Bremsschenkel 47 des Verriegelungshebels 35 nach unten und wird danach vom Rücken des Bremsschenkels 47 in Position gehalten. Beim Einführen der Spulenkapsel 3 in den Greifer 1 wird dadurch die Spule 5 festgehalten und kann, auch wenn die Spulenkapsel 3 etwas nach unten geneigt wird, nicht aus dieser herausfallen. Sobald das hakenförmige Ende 51 des Rastschenkels 45 an der Hülse 9 anstösst, wird der Verriegelungshebel 35 leicht im Gegenuhrzeigersinn geschwenkt. Beim weiteren Einschieben gleitet das hakenförmige Ende 51 entlang dem Mantel der Hülse 9 bis das hakenförmige Ende 51 den Einstich 13 erreicht und dort einklinken kann. Nun ist die Spulenkapsel 3 samt der Spule 5 in Greifer 1 gehalten und kann nicht mehr aus diesem herausfallen. Sowohl der Rastschenkel 45 als auch der Bremsschenkel 47 liegen in der eingerasteten Position beabstandet zur Innenwand der Bohrung in der Spule 5. Letztere ist dadurch frei drehbar gehalten.
