All that is required is to foresee a suitable number of media capable of providing a wide range of data/information to save the user at least the most complicated and long entry procedures (timed sequence of pressing remote control buttons).

For example time planning, end-of-travel values and levels of rain, wind and sun, type of application and operating conditions etc may be encoded together in a block or record.
