- Die Kettenrolle ist am Übergang zwischen Unterseite und Seitenfläche der betreffenden Stufe oder Palette angeordnet, und zwar so, dass sie sowohl seitlich als auch zur Unterseite hin je etwas die Stufe oder Palette überragt. Unterseite bezieht sich hier auf den normalen Zustand, also den Zustand der Stufe oder Palette, bei der die Trittfläche oben ist. Diese Anordnung erlaubt es überraschend mit einfachen Mitteln, trotz der vollen Belastbarkeit eine kompaktere Ausgestaltung zu realisieren: Im Vorlauf steht die gesamte Breite der Stützrolle für die Abstützung zur Verfügung, und die Stützrollenschiene kann entsprechend breit realisiert sein. Dies ermöglicht es auch, die erwünschte seitliche Toleranz bereitzustellen, so dass die Breite der Vorlauf-Kettenrollenschiene beispielsweise doppelt so gross wie die Breite der Kettenrolle sein kann und die Kettenrolle eine recht breite Bahn für ihr Ablaufen vorfindet.
