Description
- Die Erfindung betrifft in erster Linie neue Palladium-Schmucklegierungen sowie mit Hilfe dieser Legierungen gefertigte Halbzeuge.
- Palladium ist ein Element aus der Gruppe der sogenannten Platinmetalle. Es ist hellweiß wie Platin, jedoch viel leichter als Platin und deutlich härter. Es ist in der Regel auch viel billiger als Platin.

EP 0 330 863 A2 offenbart Palladium-Silber-Legierungen für Zahnersatz. - Bei der Schmuckherstellung hat Palladium hauptsächlich als Zusatz zu anderen Elementen, insbesondere Gold, Verwendung gefunden. So wird Palladium häufig als Legierungszusatz bei der "Entfärbung" von Gold zu sogenanntem Weißgold oder Graugold eingesetzt.
- Schmuck aus Palladium oder Palladiumlegierungen ist trotz seiner günstigen Eigenschaften bisher vergleichsweise selten. Dies ist an sich verwunderlich, da Palladium bei Raumtemperatur nicht mit Sauerstoff reagiert, sehr anlaufbeständig ist und seinen metallischen Glanz behält.
- Trotz dieser grundsätzlich günstigen Eigenschaften von Palladium für den Schmuckbereich sind derzeit nach Kenntnis der Anmelderin für Schmuckwaren neben Feinpalladium (999) nur Palladiumlegierungen mit einem Feingehalt von 950 und 500 erhältlich.
- Dementsprechend stellt sich die Erfindung die Aufgabe, für Schmuckwaren weitere Palladiumlegierungen zur Verfügung zu stellen. Insbesondere sollen solche Legierungen für die Herstellung von Rohren und Ringen für die Fertigung von Trauringen geeignet sein. Für diese Zwecke wird in der Regel eine Härte von mindestens 180 HV (Vickers-Härte) angestrebt.
- Diese Aufgabe wird gelöst durch die Palladium-Schmucklegierungen mit den Merkmalen der Ansprüche 1, 3 und 5. Bevorzugte Ausführungsformen dieser Legierungen sind in den abhängigen Ansprüchen 2, 4 und 6 bis 8 beschrieben. Weiter umfasst die Erfindung die Halbzeuge gemäß den Ansprüchen 9 und 10.
Der Wortlaut sämtlicher Ansprüche wird hiermit zum Inhalt dieser Beschreibung gemacht. - Dementsprechend besteht eine erste Gruppe der erfindungsgemäßen Schmucklegierung aus
- 58,0 Gew.-% bis 59,0 Gew.-%, vorzugsweise 58,5 Gew.-%, Palladium,
- 25,0 Gew.-% bis 30,0 Gew.-% Silber,
- 10,0 Gew.-% bis 12,0 Gew.-% Kupfer,
- 0,9 Gew.-% bis 1,1 Gew.-% Gallium, Germanium und/ oder Indium, vorzugsweise Gallium,
- 1,4 Gew.-% bis 1,6 Gew.-% Zink,
- 0,3 Gew.-% bis 0,6 Gew.-% Wolfram und/oder Cobalt, vorzugsweise Wolfram, und
- 0,04 Gew.-% bis 0,06 Gew.-% Iridium, Rhodium und/oder Ruthenium, vorzugsweise Ruthenium.
- Insbesondere besteht eine solche Schmucklegierung aus
- 58,5 Gew.-% Palladium,
- 27,85 Gew.-% Silber,
- 10,8 Gew.-% Kupfer,
- 1,0 Gew.-% Gallium,
- 1,5 Gew.-% Zink,
- 0,3 Gew.-% Wolfram und
- 0,05 Gew.-% Ruthenium.
- Dementsprechend besteht eine zweite Gruppe der erfindungsgemäßen Schmucklegierung aus
- 59,0 Gew.-% bis 61,0 Gew.-%, vorzugsweise 60,0 Gew.-%, Palladium,
- 25,0 Gew.-% bis 30,0 Gew.-% Silber,
- 8,0 Gew.-% bis 10,0 Gew.-% Kupfer,
- 0,9 Gew.-% bis 1,1 Gew.-% Gallium, Germanium und/oder Indium, vorzugsweise Gallium,
- 1,8 Gew.-% bis 2,2 Gew.-% Zink,
- 0,3 Gew.-% bis 0,6 Gew.-% Wolfram und/oder Cobalt, vorzugsweise Wolfram, und
- 0,04 Gew.-% bis 0,06 Gew.-% Iridium, Rhodium und/oder Ruthenium, vorzugsweise Ruthenium.
- Insbesondere besteht eine solche Schmucklegierung aus
- 60,0 Gew.-% Palladium,
- 27,75 Gew.-% Silber,
- 8,7 Gew.-% Kupfer,
- 1,0 Gew.-% Gallium,
- 2,0 Gew.-% Zink,
- 0,5 Gew.-% Wolfram und
- 0,05 Gew.-% Ruthenium.
- Dementsprechend besteht eine dritte Gruppe der erfindungsgemäßen Schmucklegierung aus
- 74,0 Gew.-% bis 76,0 Gew.-%, vorzugsweise 75,0 Gew.-% Palladium,
- 13,0 Gew.-% bis 17,0 Gew.-% Silber,
- 4,5 Gew.-% bis 7,0 Gew.-% Kupfer,
- 1,4 Gew.-% bis 1,6 Gew.-% Gallium, Germanium und/oder Indium, vorzugsweise Gallium,
- 1,8 Gew.-% bis 2,2 Gew.-% Zink,
- 0,2 Gew.-% bis 0,4 Gew.-% Wolfram und/oder Cobalt, vorzugsweise Wolfram, und
- 0,04 Gew.-% bis 0,06 Gew.-% Iridium, Rhodium und/oder Ruthenium, vorzugsweise Ruthenium.
- Insbesondere besteht eine solche Schmucklegierung aus
- 75,0 Gew.-% Palladium,
- 15,25 Gew.-% Silber,
- 5,9 Gew.-% Kupfer,
- 1,5 Gew.-% Gallium,
- 2,0 Gew.-% Zink,
- 0,3 Gew.-% Wolfram und
- 0,05 Gew.-% Ruthenium.
- Die genannten drei Gruppen gruppieren sich um die Palladiumfeingehalte von 585 (d.h. 58,5 Gew.-%), 600 (d.h. 60,0 Gew.-%) und 750 (d.h. 75,0 Gew.-%), wobei die Gruppe mit Palladiumfeingehalten von 585 besonders hervorzuheben ist.
- Dabei definiert der Palladiumgehalt den Feingehalt der beanspruchten Schmucklegierung. Der Zusatz an Silber oder Kupfer beeinflusst die Umformeigenschaften und den Farbton der Legierung. Der Zusatz von Gallium, Germanium und/oder Indium hat einen Einfluss auf die Härte und den Schmelzpunkt der Legierung. Der Einfluss des Zusatzes an Zink zur Legierung wirkt sich auf Umformeigenschaften und Härte positiv aus.
- Der Einfluss der beiden Elemente Wolfram (W) und Cobalt (Co) auf die Legierung wirkt sich in erster Linie auf die Feinheit der Körnung und die Härte aus.
- Der Zusatz der Elemente Iridium (Ir), Rhodium (Rh) und Ruthenium (Ru) resultiert ebenfalls in einer feineren Körnung der Legierung.
- Wie bereits erwähnt sind die in der erfindungsgemäßen Schmucklegierung enthaltenen Elemente Gallium, Germanium und/oder Indium als sogenannte Schmelzpunktsenker bekannt, d.h. durch Zugabe solcher Elemente lässt sich der Schmelzpunkt erniedrigen gegenüber Legierungen, die diese Elemente nicht enthalten. Außerdem können diese Elemente die Härte der erhaltenen Legierungen erhöhen.
- Weiter ist es bei der Erfindung in diesem Zusammenhang bevorzugt, wenn aus der genannten Gruppe von Elementen (Gallium, Germanium und Indium) mindestens Gallium enthalten ist, vorzugsweise in der Legierung nur Gallium als ein solcher Zusatz vorgesehen ist.
- In Weiterbildung ist es bei der Erfindung bevorzugt, wenn es sich bei dem Element aus der Gruppe Wolfram und Cobalt vorzugsweise um Wolfram handelt.
- Wie bereits erwähnt ist bei der Erfindung mindestens ein Element aus der Gruppe Iridium, Rhodium und Ruthenium enthalten. Solche Elemente sind, wie ebenfalls bereits ausgeführt, als sogenannte Kornfeiner bekannt, da sie dafür sorgen können, dass die erhaltene Legierung eine geringere mittlere Korngröße aufweist im Vergleich zu Legierungen, die diese Elemente nicht enthalten.
- Erfindungsgemäß ist es bevorzugt, wenn von den drei genannten Elementen Iridium, Rhodium und Ruthenium mindestens Ruthenium enthalten ist, vorzugsweise nur Ruthenium als ein solcher Zusatz vorgesehen ist.
- In Weiterbildung besitzt die erfindungsgemäße Schmucklegierung vorzugsweise eine sogenannte Vickers-Härte von ≥ 180 HV (geglüht), insbesondere von 200 (± 10) HV.
- Die Härteprüfung nach Vickers ist dem Fachmann bekannt. HV 5 entspricht dabei der Prüfkraft von 50 N (Newton). Diese Angabe ist bei E-delmetalllegierungen eine übliche Angabe für die Härte solcher Materialien.
- Darüber hinaus weist die erfindungsgemäße Schmucklegierung vorzugsweise ein spezifisches Gewicht ≤ 12,0 g/cm3, insbesondere ≤ 11,5 g/cm3 auf. Damit handelt es sich bei solchen bevorzugten erfindungsgemäßen Legierungen um vergleichweise leichte und damit preiswerte Materialien. Zum Vergleich besitzen bekannte 585 Weißgold-Legierungen mit Palladium beispielsweise ein spezifisches Gewicht von 14,3 g/cm3 und bekannte 750 Weißgold-Legierungen mit Palladium sogar ein spezifisches Gewicht von 15,9 g/cm3.
- Weiter kann die erfindungsgemäße Palladium-Schmucklegierung ein Schmelzintervall unterhalb von 1250 °C besitzen. Vorzugsweise liegen solche Schmelzintervalle zwischen 1140 °C und 1220 °C.
In diesem Zusammenhang sei darauf hingewiesen, dass Legierungen, insbesondere die in der Schmuckindustrie eingesetzten Legierungen, keine scharfen Schmelzpunkte, sondern einen Schmelzbereich, das sogenannte Schmelzintervall besitzen. Innerhalb dieses Schmelzintervalls erweichen die Legierungen zunächst, bis sie sich dann zunehmend verflüssigen und dann in den tatsächlich flüssigen Zustand übergehen. Für die Verarbeitung solcher Legierungen ist es daher von Vorteil, wenn solche Schmelzintervalle möglichst niedrig liegen, so dass sie in einfacher Weise erschmolzen und weiterverarbeitet werden können. - Schließlich umfasst die Erfindung ein Halbzeug für die Schmuckherstellung, das mindestens teilweise, vorzugsweise vollständig, aus einer erfindungsgemäßen Legierung gefertigt ist. Bekanntlich handelt es sich bei diesen Halbzeugen um vorgefertigte geometrische Formen aus dem entsprechenden Legierungsmaterial, die anschließend handwerklich oder industriell zu den jeweiligen Schmuck-Endprodukten weiterverarbeitet werden. Im Schmuckbereich handelt es sich bei solchen Halbzeugen in der Regel beispielsweise um Rohre, Stangen, Ringe, Bleche, Bänder, Drähte und dergleichen. Sie werden zunächst als Gusshalbzeug hergestellt und dann in der Regel zum endgültigen Halbzeug mit den gewünschten Abmessungen weiterbearbeitet, vorzugsweise umgeformt.
- Erfindungsgemäß ist es bevorzugt, wenn es sich bei den erfindungsgemäßen Halbzeugen um rohrartige oder ringartige Halbzeuge handelt. Solche Halbzeuge eignen sich besonders gut zur Herstellung von Schmuckringen einschließlich Trauringen.
- Die Erfindung ist insgesamt mit einer ganzen Reihe von Vorteilen verbunden.
- So kommen in der Regel die eingangs erläuterten Vorteile, die mit einem Einsatz von Palladium verbunden sind, zum Tragen. Die erfindungsgemäßen Palladium-Schmucklegierungen besitzen eine schöne grauweiße Farbe mit hoher Farbstabilität. Da die Legierungen sehr anlaufbeständig sind, ist eine Rhodiumbeschichtung (Rhodinierung) nicht erforderlich, außer wenn dies aus rein ästhetischen Gründen gewünscht wird. Bei dem sogenannten Rhodinieren handelt es sich bekanntlich um eine chemische oder galvanische Beschichtung von Metallen mit Rhodium. Solche Überzüge sind chemisch und mechanisch sehr beständig und besitzen einen chromähnlichen Glanz.
- Weiter besitzen die erfindungsgemäßen Legierungen eine hohe Duktilität, d.h. das Material hat eine hohe Umformbarkeit, bevor es bricht oder reißt. Zudem besitzen die erfindungsgemäßen Legierungen ein feinkörniges Gefüge, beispielsweise mit mittleren Korngrößen von weniger als 50 µm, insbesondere im Bereich von 20 bis 35 µm. Dementsprechend sind sie sowohl mit Handwerkzeugen als auch mit Maschinenwerkzeugen, beispielsweise mit allen gängigen CNC (computerized numerical control)-Techniken, bearbeitbar. Dies gilt auch für konventionelle Schneidplatten und für Diamantwerkzeuge, einschließlich PKD (polykristalliner Diamant).
- Bei den erfindungsgemäßen Legierungen lassen sich ohne weiteres Härten von mindestens 180 HV (Vickers-Härte, geglüht, d.h. sogenannte Weichhärte) erreichen, so dass solche Legierungen, insbesondere auch mit einem Palladiumfeingehalt von 585 (58,5 Gew.-%), für die Herstellung von Trauringen geeignet sind. In diesem Zusammenhang lassen sich unter Verwendung der erfindungsgemäßen Schmucklegierungen mit andersfarbigen Legierungen auch mehrfarbige Trauringe herstellen, insbesondere durch das sogenannte Diffusionsschweißen. Bei diesem Verfahren werden metallische Werkstücke miteinander verbunden und zwar bei sehr hoher Qualität der Schweißverbindungen. Das Verfahren selbst und seine Verfahrensparameter sind dem Fachmann ohne weiteres bekannt. Die erfindungsgemäßen Legierungen lassen sich nicht nur im Diffusionsschweißverfahren verarbeiten, sondern besitzen danach auch noch eine Härte von mindestens 180 HV (ohne Verformung).
- Weiter sei nochmals hervorgehoben, dass das spezifische Gewicht der erfindungsgemäßen Legierungen mit insbesondere weniger als 12,0 g/cm3, vorzugsweise weniger als 11,5 g/cm3 deutlich unterhalb der spezifischen Gewichte von Legierungen anderer Metalle vergleichbaren Feingehalts liegt. Außerdem sind die erfindungsgemäßen Legierungen durch die Verwendung von Palladium als (Haupt-)Legierungselement deutlich billiger als Legierungen mit vergleichbaren Feingehalten beispielsweise an Platin.
- Dementsprechend stellen die erfindungsgemäßen Legierungen eine preisgünstige Alternative beispielsweise zu Weißgold-Legierungen mit 585 Goldgehalt dar, wobei die erfindungsgemäßen Legierungen auch in Kombination mit solchen Legierungen eingesetzt werden können.
- Schließlich sei noch hervorgehoben, dass die erfindungsgemäßen Legierungen im herkömmlichen Stranggussverfahren hergestellt werden können. Das Stranggießen ist dem Fachmann bekannt als ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von Halbzeugen aus Metallen und Legierungen, wobei dieses Verfahren in der Regel kontinuierlich durchgeführt wird, so dass ein Endlosstrang des gewünschten Halbzeugs bereit gestellt wird. Da die Schmelzintervalle der erfindungsgemäßen Legierungen, wie bereits erwähnt, in der Regel unterhalb von 1250 °C liegen, können sie mit einem solchen Verfahren in einfacher Weise erschmolzen und weiterverarbeitet werden. Gerade beim Stranggießen ist es ja erforderlich, keine zu hohen Schmelzintervalle bei einer Legierung zu haben, um dieses Verfahren anwenden zu können. Beim Stranggießen muss das erschmolzene Material über einen bestimmten Zeitraum ausreichend dünnflüssig sein, um das Material in den Strang umzuwandeln. Ein zu frühes Erstarren des Materials muss verhindert werden.
- Die geschilderten und weiteren Merkmale der Erfindung ergeben sich aus dem nachfolgenden Beispiel in Verbindung mit den Unteransprüchen. Dabei können die einzelnen Merkmale für sich allein oder in Kombination miteinander verwirklicht sein.
- Es wird eine erfindungsgemäße Palladiumlegierung hergestellt, die, bezogen auf das Gesamtgewicht 1000 (in ‰), einen Feingehalt an Palladium von 585 besitzt. Die einzelnen Bestandteile sind wie folgt:
- 585 Palladium (Pd),
- 278, 5 Silber (Ag),
- 108 Kupfer (Cu),
- 10 Gallium (Ga),
- 15 Zink (Zn),
- 3 Wolfram (W), und
- 0,5 Ruthenium (Ru).
- Umgerechnet auf Gew.-% besitzt diese erfindungsgemäße Legierung somit die Zusammensetzung:
- 58,5 Gew.-% Palladium,
- 27,85 Gew.-% Silber,
- 10,8 Gew.-% Kupfer,
- 1,0 Gew.-% Gallium,
- 1,5 Gew.-% Zink,
- 0,3 Gew.-% Wolfram und
- 0,05 Gew.-% Ruthenium.
- Diese Bestandteile werden in einem Induktionsofen unter Verwendung geeigneter Vorlegierungen geschmolzen.
- Die erhaltene Legierung besitzt ein Schmelzintervall zwischen 1145 °C und 1220 °C und lässt sich dementsprechend in einem Stranggussverfahren zu Halbzeugen, insbesondere zu Rohren und Ringen, verarbeiten. Die Härte der Legierung beträgt geglüht (bei 850 °C) 180 HV bis 200 HV. Die Legierung hat ein spezifisches Gewicht von 10,9 g/cm3. Die Legierung ist feinkörnig (mittlere Korngröße unterhalb 50 µm) und lässt sich ausgezeichnet (zer)spanend bearbeiten (Dreh- und Fräsbearbeitung) sowie Umformen, Diffusionsschweißen und Polieren.
Claims (10)
- Palladium-Schmucklegierung bestehend aus- 58,0 Gew.-% bis 59,0 Gew.-%, vorzugsweise 58,5 Gew.-%, Palladium,- 25,0 Gew.-% bis 30,0 Gew.-% Silber,- 10,0 Gew.-% bis 12,0 Gew.-% Kupfer,- 0,9 Gew.-% bis 1,1 Gew.-% Gallium, Germanium und/oder Indium, vorzugsweise Gallium,- 1,4 Gew.-% bis 1,6 Gew.-% Zink,- 0,3 Gew.-% bis 0,6 Gew.-% Wolfram und/oder Cobalt, vorzugsweise Wolfram, und- 0,04 Gew.-% bis 0,06 Gew.-% Iridium, Rhodium und/oder Ruthenium, vorzugsweise Ruthenium.
- Palladium-Schmucklegierung nach Anspruch 1 bestehend aus- 58,5 Gew.-% Palladium,- 27,85 Gew.-% Silber,- 10,8 Gew.-% Kupfer,- 1,0 Gew.-% Gallium,- 1,5 Gew.-% Zink,- 0,3 Gew.-% Wolfram und- 0,05 Gew.-% Ruthenium.
- Palladium-Schmucklegierung bestehend aus- 59,0 Gew.-% bis 61,0 Gew.-%, vorzugsweise 60,0 Gew.-%, Palladium,- 25,0 Gew.-% bis 30,0 Gew.-% Silber,- 8,0 Gew.-% bis 10,0 Gew.-% Kupfer,- 0,9 Gew.-% bis 1,1 Gew.-% Gallium, Germanium und/oder Indium, vorzugsweise Gallium,- 1,8 Gew.-% bis 2,2 Gew.-% Zink,- 0,3 Gew.-% bis 0,6 Gew.-% Wolfram und/oder Cobalt, vorzugsweise Wolfram, und- 0,04 Gew.-% bis 0,06 Gew.-% Iridium, Rhodium und/oder Ruthenium, vorzugsweise Ruthenium.
- Palladium-Schmucklegierung nach Anspruch 3 bestehend aus- 60,0 Gew.-% Palladium,- 27,75 Gew.-% Silber,- 8,7 Gew.-% Kupfer,- 1,0 Gew.-% Gallium,- 2,0 Gew.-% Zink,- 0,5 Gew.-% Wolfram und- 0,05 Gew.-% Ruthenium.
- Palladium-Schmucklegierung bestehend aus- 74,0 Gew.-% bis 76,0 Gew.-%, vorzugsweise 75,0 Gew.-% Palladium,- 13,0 Gew.-% bis 17,0 Gew.-% Silber,- 4,5 Gew.-% bis 7,0 Gew.-% Kupfer,- 1,4 Gew.-% bis 1,6 Gew.-% Gallium, Germanium und/oder Indium, vorzugsweise Gallium,- 1,8 Gew.-% bis 2,2 Gew.-% Zink,- 0,2 Gew.-% bis 0,4 Gew.-% Wolfram und/oder Cobalt, vorzugsweise Wolfram, und- 0,04 Gew.-% bis 0,06 Gew.-% Iridium, Rhodium und/oder Ruthenium, vorzugsweise Ruthenium.
- Palladium-Schmucklegierung nach Anspruch 5 bestehend aus- 75,0 Gew.-% Palladium,- 15,25 Gew.-% Silber,- 5,9 Gew.-% Kupfer,- 1,5 Gew.-% Gallium,- 2,0 Gew.-% Zink,- 0,3 Gew.-% Wolfram und- 0,05 Gew.-% Ruthenium.
- Palladium-Schmucklegierung nach einem der vorhergehenden Ansprüche, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Legierung eine Härte von mindestens 180 HV aufweist.
- Palladium-Schmucklegierung nach einem der vorhergehenden Ansprüche, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Legierung ein spezifisches Gewicht von weniger als 12,0 g/cm3, vorzugsweise weniger als 11,5 g/cm3, aufweist.
- Halbzeug für die Schmuckherstellung, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass es mindestens teilweise, vorzugsweise vollständig, aus einer Legierung nach einem der vorhergehenden Ansprüche gefertigt ist.
- Halbzeug nach Anspruch 9, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass es sich um ein rohrartiges oder ringartiges Halbzeug handelt.
