Description

The invention relates to an envelope with protection for including fragile objects to be sent to a recipient through the postal services or even companies specializing in the delivery of packages.

The object of the present invention is aimed particularly at optimizing the bulk of these envelopes with protection before their use for the shipping of an object, this optimization of the bulk makes it possible in particular to reduce the costs of packaging and delivery of goods. envelopes with protection before use.

The Applicant has already implemented a method of manufacturing an envelope with protection for fragile objects, object of the patent application registered under the number EP.03370038.6 and published under the number EP.1.426.305 A1 . This document shows an envelope in the form of a case, that is to say comprising two faces defining a storage area within which is disposed the object to be shipped. In addition, compressible padding means consisting of a damping material are arranged in this storage area to protect the object deposited in the envelope. According to this document, the envelope is positioned in a flexible enclosure. The air contained in this flexible enclosure is expelled, said enclosure being then closed, which causes a compression of the flexible enclosure and therefore that of the envelope and damping material disposed in this envelope, which remain in the state as the flexible enclosure is not open, that is to say until the moment of use of the envelope for shipping the object. Thus this design reduces the bulk of the envelope which, in the initial state, has a smaller volume due to its compression and that of the damping material. This can significantly reduce the cost of packaging these envelopes before use.

A disadvantage of this mode of packaging envelopes with protection, before their use, is to generate a manufacturing overcost which is certainly absorbed by the reduction of packaging costs.

The present invention aims to reduce the manufacturing costs of the envelope with protection. For this purpose, the invention relates to a protective envelope comprising two faces defining a storage area, compressible padding means being arranged inside this storage area, this storage area and these padding means being initially , that is to say before the use of the envelope with protection, in the compressed or compressed state. Remarkably, the storage area is airtight. In addition, the first face of the envelope comprises on its outer side an opening system configured to release an access opening to the storage area, this access opening being arranged on this first face. Furthermore, the second face comprises a flap configured to cover in its folded position on the first face, said access opening to the storage area, a fastening system being arranged between the flap and the outer side of said first face.

Thus, before use of the protective envelope, the hermetic storage area and the cushioning means arranged in this hermetic storage area remain properly compressed because of the hermeticity which prevents any introduction of air, which allows a reduction the size of the envelope with protection before use. In addition, when the opening system releases the access opening to the storage area, it allows the ambient air to penetrate allowing the padding means to resume their initial volume before compression, the padding material thus recovering all its depreciation or protection properties of the object to be disposed in the storage area. The flap, configured to cover in its folded position said opening, and the fastening system arranged between the flap and the outer side of said first face, then allows the use of the protective envelope in the manner of traditional envelopes, that is to say that it can contain enclosed the object disposed in the storage area and ready to be shipped.

It is understood that according to the invention, opposite the document EP.1.426.305 A1 , it eliminates the use of an additional flexible enclosure to maintain the envelope in the compressed state before use, this removal of the flexible enclosure thus reducing the costs of the envelope with protection.

According to one embodiment of the invention, the envelope consists of a hermetic sheet, preferably of polyethylene, folded into two rectangular parts of different lengths, the part of smaller length constituting the first face of the envelope and the part of greater length constituting the second face of this envelope. In addition, the two side edges and the extreme edge of the smaller length portion are welded to the longer portion. This makes it possible to form the hermetic storage area and the flap. According to a variant of design, this protective envelope consists of two rectangular hermetic sheets of identical width and different length. In addition, the four edges of the sheet of shorter length constituting the first face, are welded to the sheet of greater length constituting the second face. Moreover, the lower edges and the lateral edges of the two sheets respectively correspond. This also makes it possible to form an airtight storage area and the flap on the envelope.

According to the invention, the opening system comprises a slot arranged in the upper part of the first face. In addition, this slot is hermetically covered with a detachable adhesive tape. This keeps the sealed storage area as long as the adhesive tape remains positioned on the slot. Once the adhesive tape detached, the slot is then released which allows the introduction of air into the storage area.

Preferably, the slot is arranged transversely over the entire width of the first face. This facilitates the introduction of objects inside the storage area.

According to the invention, the closure system comprises an adhesive layer arranged on the flap, this adhesive layer being coated with a removable protective strip. Thus, as long as the protective strip remains on the adhesive layer, that is to say before the use of the envelope with protection, the flap can not be fixed on the outer side of the first face of this envelope. On the contrary, once the protective strip is removed, the adhesive layer is free and can then be glued to the said outer side of the first face of the envelope, thus ensuring the closure of the envelope with protection.

Preferably, the adhesive layer is arranged transversely across the width of the flap, which allows a suitable closure of the envelope with protection and prevents access to the access opening to the storage area.

According to the invention, the padding means consist of a flexible foam sheet, preferably polyurethane, this foam sheet being folded into two parts and inserted into the storage area. In addition, the extreme transverse edges of the folded flexible foam sheet are disposed at the access opening of said storage area. This facilitates the positioning of the object between the two parts of the foam sheet. Other design variants are possible including the use of two separate sheets of flexible foam, said sheets of flexible foam being inserted into the storage area, the upper transverse edges of these two sheets being arranged at the opening of access of said storage area.

According to the invention, a fold line is arranged on the second face, outside the fastening zone, in particular by welding, with the first face, to facilitate the folding of the flap against the outer side of this first face.

  • Les figures 1 à 3 illustrent en perspective une enveloppe avec protection respectivement à l'état fermé et comprimé avant utilisation, à l'état ouvert avant fermeture du rabat et à l'état fermé selon lequel, l'enveloppe enferme un objet à protéger ;
The following description illustrates a preferred mode of design of the envelope with protection object of the present invention, which relies on figures among which:
  • The Figures 1 to 3 illustrate in perspective an envelope with protection respectively in the closed state and compressed before use, in the open state before closing the flap and in the closed state according to which, the envelope encloses an object to be protected;
  • The Figures 4 to 6 illustrate three sectional views of the envelope with protection, respectively according to Figures 1 to 3 .

As illustrated on figures 1 and 4 , the envelope with protection 1 comprises a first face 2 and a second face 3. As illustrated on the Figures 1 to 6 , the casing 1 is preferably constituted by a single hermetic sheet which is folded at its lower edge 4 into two parts constituting a first face 2 and a second face 3. It can be seen that the first part constituting the first face 2 is shorter in length than the second portion constituting the second face 3. In addition, these two parts are assembled together by means of a weld 5 made between the side edges 6, 7 of the two faces 2 and 3, this weld 5 being also implemented between the extreme transverse edge 8 of the first face 2 and the upper part of the second face 3. Thus, this weld 5 between the first face 2 and the second face 3 makes it possible to form a hermetic storage area 9 between the two faces 2 and 3, and a flap 10 in the upper part of the second face 3.

According to a variant of the design, it is possible to provide for the use of two separate hermetic sheets for constituting said faces 2 and 3 and the flap 10, in a manner identical to that illustrated in FIGS. Figures 1 to 6 . In this case two sheets are used which have the same width and a different length, the sheet of the smallest length constituting the first face 2 and the sheet of greater length constituting the second face 3. In this case, provision will also be made for on the four edges of the sheet of smaller length, this weld is similar to that illustrated on the Figures 1 to 3 for the aforementioned preferential mode, said welding being furthermore also performed at the lower edge 4 between the two sheets.

We see on Figures 4 to 6 that the envelope comprises a cushioning material 11 preferably consisting of a polyurethane foam sheet according to the preferred embodiment illustrated in FIGS. Figures 1 to 6 . Such Padding material 11 has the particularity of being compressible. This sheet of foam is folded in two so as to constitute two parts 12 and 13 between which may be positioned objects 14 to protect as illustrated on the figure 6 . Of course we can use two separate foam sheets without departing from the scope of the present invention. The use of a single sheet of foam folded in two, however, has the advantage of providing adequate protection also in the bottom of the casing 1, that is to say at the folded edge 4 between the two faces 2 and 3.

We see on Figures 1 to 6 the presence of a slot 15 which extends transversely over the entire width of the first face of the envelope. Before the use of the envelope, this slot 15 is completely coated with an adhesive tape 16 ensuring a hermeticity of the storage area 9. It can be seen on the figure 4 that the padding material 11 is in a compressed state before using the envelope 1 object of the invention. Similarly, the storage area 9 is in a compressed state. This compressed state is preserved as long as the hermeticity of the storage zone 9 is preserved, that is to say as long as the adhesive tape 16 ensuring the hermeticity at the slit 15 is maintained attached to the outer side 2a of the first face 2. Once this adhesive strip 16 detached as illustrated on the figures 2 and 5 , the air can enter through the slot 15 inside the storage area 9, which allows the padding material 11 to resume its initial volume and to recover these properties of damping material to ensure a protection of the object disposed between the two parts 12 and 13 of said cushioning material 11. In addition, Figures 4 to 6 that the extreme transverse edges 12a and 13a of the foam sheet are arranged slightly below the slot 15, which facilitates the spacing of the two parts 12 and 13 of the foam sheet during the introduction of the object 14 through the slot 15, between said parts 12 and 13.

It can be seen on the Figures 1, 2 , 4 and 5 that the inner side 10a of the flap 10 comprises an adhesive layer 17 coated with a protective strip 18 for protecting said adhesive layer 17 before the use of the envelope 1. When the object 14 is disposed in the envelope 1 , the protective strip 18 is removed and the flap 10 is folded on the outer side 2a of the first face 2, which allows the adhesion of the adhesive layer 17 on the outer side 2a and ensures the attachment between the flap 10 and the first face 2, allowing the closure of the slot 15, which prevents access to the object 14 disposed in the storage area 9 of the casing 1.

Of course, obtaining a hermetic storage zone 9 before the use of the envelope 1 requires the use of a sheet or even two sheets for the constitution of the first face 2 and the second face 3 in a hermetic material. A polyethylene sheet will preferably be used.

Cette ligne de pliage 19 assure un rabattement convenable du rabat 10 sur ladite première face 2.We see on Figures 1 to 6 the presence of a fold line 19 arranged transversely over the entire width of the casing 1, preferably the inner side 10a of the flap 10, above the extreme transverse edge 8 of the first face 2. This fold line 19 ensures a proper folding of the flap 10 on said first face 2.

Other design variants are conceivable without departing from the scope of the present invention, particularly as regards the materials used for the cushioning material 11 and the hermetic sheet or sheets for the constitution of the envelope, as to the shape of the envelope 1, slot 15 or access opening and flap. Similarly variants are possible as to the opening system on the first face and the fastening system between the flap 10 and the first face 2.
