Abstract

A window frame has inside its wooden parts, especially its side parts, elements reinforcing wood across its grain, located transversely to the main plane of the window frame, the reinforcing elements being threaded fasteners, preferably screws (4) threaded on their whole length. The reinforcing elements are located mainly at the hinges (5) in the central zone of the side parts of the frame and close to its corners.

Description

Wooden window frame, especially for roof window
The subject of the invention is a wooden window frame of reinforced construction, comprising both the sash frame and the casement frame. The invention finds its application mostly in roof windows.
There is known a wooden window frame with a turning or tilting and turning sash, of which the side parts connected with the transverse parts are fitted at both sides with hinges located particularly in the central zone of the frame side parts, and the side and transverse parts of the frame are longitudinal wooden elements with a grain pattern generally agreeing with the lengths of the separate parts of the frame.
According to the invention inside the wooden parts of the frame, especially inside its side parts, the frame is provided with wood reinforcing elements across wood grain, located transversely against the plane of the main window frame, the reinforcing elements being advantageously metal ones. The elements reinforcing the wooden parts of the frame across their grain are threaded fasteners, preferably screws, threaded on their whole length.
The hinge is fixed to the side parts of the frame by threaded fasteners, advantageously being screws, and the threaded fasteners reinforcing the wood of the side part of the frame, advantageously being screws with thread on their whole length, are located on planes perpendicular to these fasteners. The wood reinforcing fasteners are located between the threaded fasteners fixing the hinge to the side parts of the frame.
The side part of the frame has at least one cavity into which enters the fastening ear of the hinge, and at least one threaded fastener reinforcing the wood of the side part of the frame passes through a hole in that ear. The fastening ear of the hinge is preferably pressure fitted by at least two of its opposite surfaces in a cavity in the side part of the frame, acting as a position setter of the hinge in the side part of the frame. The threaded fastener passing through the hole in the ear of the hinge has two threaded sections separated by a threadless section.
The wood reinforcing elements are located close to the corner joints of the side and transverse elements of the frame.
The frame for roof window, according to the present invention, is presented in embodiment examples on a drawing. Fig. 1 shows a frame in perspective view, fig. 2 - a hinge fastened to the side part of the frame, fig. 3 - view of the mentioned hinge with reinforcing screws, fig. 4 - presents A-A cross section of the frame showed on fig. 3, fig. 5 and 6 - a variant of the hinge with ears, fig. 7 - other variant of the hinge with ears, fig. 8 - a reinforcing screw situated in the sash frame corner.
Example 1 . The variant according to the first example of the invention is being applied in the sash frame 1 of a roof window, connected with the casement frame 2 by two hinges 3 located at the central part of the window. In each hinge, one of its subassemblies comprising the arched slide 31 is fixed by hinge fastening plate 32 to the side part 1 1 of the sash frame. The hinge subassembly is placed in the external recess 12, located at the external side of the sash frame, while at the opposite side of the side part 1 1 of the sash frame, i.e. at the inner side of the sash frame 1 , there is an internal recess 13, in which the window pane is being set. In the wall of the side part 1 1 of the sash frame, between the recesses 12 and 13, are placed the metal reinforcing screws 4 located across the wood grains of the side part 1 1 , the task of which is crosswise tying the grain fibres to protect the wooden side part 1 1 from delamination. The reinforcing screws 4 are placed perpendicularly to the plane of the main sash frame, which is identical with the surface of the glass pane when flat panes are used. The reinforcing screws 4 used in the zone of fitting the hinges are perpendicular also to the screws 6 fixing hinge fixing plate 32 to the side part 1 1 of the sash frame. The reinforcing screws 4 are located between the screws 6, which fix the hinge 3 to the side part 1 1 of the sash frame. The fixing plate 33 is provided also with locating dowels mating with the holes 15 in the side part 1 1 of the sash frame. Example 2. The variant according to the second example of the invention is being applied in the sash frame 1 of a roof window, connected with the casement frame 2 by two hinges 3 located in the central part of the window. In each hinge, one of its subassemblies comprising the arched slide 31 is fixed to the side surface of the recess by means of its fixing plate 33 provided with the ears 34, which are inserted into the cavities 14 in the side surface of the recess 12 of the side part 1 1 of the sash frame. The hinge subassembly is being placed in the external recess 125 located on the external side of the sash frame, while on the opposite side of the side part 1 1 of the sash frame, i.e. inside the sash frame 1 there is an internal recess 13, in which the window pane is being set. In the wall of the side part 1 1 of the sash frame, between the recesses 12 and 13, are driven the metal reinforcing screws 4 located across the wood grain of the side part 1 1 , to protect the wooden side part 1 1 from delamination. The reinforcing screws 4 are placed perpendicularly to the surface of the main frame of the sash, identical with the surface of the glass pane, and pass through holes in the ears 34, constituting an additional shape connection. The reinforcing screws 4 used in the zone of the hinge are perpendicular also to the screws 6, which fasten the fixing plate 32 of the hinge to the side part 1 1 of the sash frame. The reinforcing screws 4 are located between the screws 6, which fasten the hinge 3 to the side part 1 1 of the sash frame.
Example 3. The variant according to the third example of the invention is being applied in the casement frame 2 of a roof window connected with the sash frame 1 by two hinges 3 located in the central part of the window. In each hinge, one of its subassemblies comprising the arched slide 35 is fixed to the side surface 21 of the recess in the casement frame by its fixing plate 36 provided with ears 37, which are being inserted into cavities in the side surface of the recess 21. In the wall of the casement frame existing between the recess 21 and the opposite external surface of the casement frame are placed the metal reinforcing screws 5 placed across the wood grain fibres of the casement frame, the task of which is tying the grain crosswise to protect the wood of the casement frame from delamination. The reinforcing screws 5 are placed perpendicularly to the surface of the main casement frame, and pass through holes in the ears 37, constituting an additional shape connection. The screws 5 have a treaded section and a threadless section 51 mating with the ear 37 of the hinge.
Example 4. The variant according to the fourth example of the invention finds its application in the sash frame corner, on the joint of the side part 1 1 with the bottom part 16 of the sash.The reinforcing screw 4 is placed in the side part 1 1 of the sash, close to its corner, and is being driven perpendicularly to the main surface of the sash.
Example 5. The variant according to the fifth example of the invention finds its application in the sash frame corner, in its upper part 17, close to the latch furrow. The reinforcing screw 4 is placed identically as shown in Fig. 8, perpendicularly to the main surface of the sash.

Claims

- 1 -Patent claims
1 . Wooden window frame, especially for roof window, with a turning or tilting and turning sash, of which the side parts connected with the transverse parts are fitted at both sides with hinges located particularly in the central zone of the frame side parts, and the side and transverse parts of the frame are longitudinal wooden elements with a grain pattern generally agreeing with the lengths of the separate parts of the frame, characterized in that inside the wooden parts of the frame, especially inside its side parts, it is provided with wood reinforcing elements across wood grain, located transversely against the plane of the main window frame, the reinforcing elements being advantageously metal ones.
2. Wooden frame according claim 1 characterized in that the elements reinforcing the wooden parts of the frame across their grain are threaded fasteners, preferably screws, threaded on their whole length.

Wooden frame according claim 2 characterized in that the hinge is fixed to the side parts of the frame by threaded fasteners, advantageously being screws, and the threaded fasteners reinforcing the wood of the side part of the frame, advantageously being screws with thread on their whole length, are located on planes perpendicular to these fasteners.
4. Wooden frame according claim 3 characterized in that the wood reinforcing fasteners are located between the threaded fasteners fixing the hinge to the side parts of the frame.
5. Wooden frame according claim 3 or 4 characterized in that its side part has at least one cavity into which enters the fastening ear of the hinge, and at least one threaded fastener reinforcing the wood of the side part of the frame passes through a hole in that ear.
6. Wooden frame according claim 5 characterized in that the fastening ear of the hinge is preferably pressure fitted by at least two of its opposite surfaces in a cavity in the side part of the frame, acting as a position setter of the hinge in the side part of the frame.
7. Wooden frame according claim 5 or 6, characterized in that the threaded fastener passing through the hole in the ear of the hinge has two threaded sections separated by a threadless section. - 2 -
8. Wooden frame according claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the wood reinforcing elements are located close to the corner joints of the side and transverse elements of the frame.
