Description

The invention relates to a packaging for welding rods comprising an articulated lid connected to the packaging body via a hinge constituted by a fold of the rear wall of the packaging, and a label serving as an information carrier, positioned on the hinge fold.

To meet the needs of certain welding processes where the supply of molten metal is discontinuous, welding consumables are manufactured in the form of solder rods and are usually packaged in elongated boxes and easily transportable, based on square, rectangle or circular.

Thus, the document DE-U-93 16 489 discloses a suitable package for elongated articles comprising an oblong body having a bottom at its distal end and a closure lid at its proximal end, said body, bottom and lid being made of cardboard material, the lid being hinged and connected to the body via a hinge located at the intersection of the lid and said body, which hinge is formed by folding the card stock.

However, the performance of welding consumables, which are generally made of metallic and mineral materials, are sensitive to the ambient atmosphere and in particular to moisture. The packaging packaging of these consumables must be designed to isolate welding consumables from atmospheric variations and keep them in the best conditions before, during and after their use, so as to prevent their contamination by ambient humidity.

However, the packaging containing said consumables must also be easy to use since the welding operators must be able to open and close them quickly and easily, that is to say without removing their protective gloves.

It is also necessary that these packagings are ergonomic and vectors of information. In many cases, on construction sites for example, operators often have short lead times to achieve the desired welding and therefore the identification and access to consumables should not be a problem. obstacle to the speed of execution.

Moreover, since the welding processes do not always require the total use of the quantity of consumables contained in a package, the packaging must be able to be effectively closed so as to be able to store and / or transport the rods between two operations. successive welding, on the same place or in different places, and this, as easily as possible and in the best conditions of conservation, including when the packaging is simply formed of a cardboard material.

In this context, the existing solutions are not optimal and do not solve all the problems that arise.

Thus, to prevent moisture recovery by packaged products, which would degrade their appearance and the quality of the results obtained in welding, packaging generally consists of several paper or cardboard type materials associated with one or more plastics. However, the recycling of waste from such packaging is complicated because the various packaging materials must be separated and recycled separately.

Similarly, with existing packaging, access to consumables is often impractical or difficult, which slows down the speed of execution, or even generates potential accident risks.

In particular, the superposition of packaging materials does not facilitate the use of welding consumables and can be a barrier to easy, quick and safe opening, because the user is tempted to use a blunt or sharp object to extract the baguettes from their packaging.

In addition, to be able to easily identify consumables during their transportation, storage and use, packaged goods must be easily identifiable before, during and after their use.

To do this, a label serving as information carrier is usually affixed to one of the outer faces of the package. However, the positioning of the labels is not always wise and their reading is not always easy or possible, especially when the packages are stacked.

In an attempt to overcome these problems, it has been proposed cardboard packaging formed of a body surmounted by an opening / closing lid permanently connected to said body by a hinge constituted by a fold made in the rear wall of the body.

However, it has been found in use that these packages were not completely satisfactory because the successive openings and closures of the lid, by operators with welding gloves, lead to a more or less rapid rupture of the closure lid , which is a real problem because once the cover detached, it is no longer possible to properly close the packaging, so the sticks it contains are no longer effectively protected and may become quickly unusable due to unavoidable entries humidity.

The problem then is to propose an improved packaging that can be used repeatedly, that is to say open and closed often, without causing the aforementioned problems and can be easily identified by the operator.

The solution of the invention is a pack for welding rod according to claim 1.

To facilitate access to welding rods 6 stored in the body 1 of the packaging or box illustrated in FIG. Figure 1 , pre-cut 9 are made in the sheet of cardboard material forming the body 1 of box. More specifically, these pre-cuts 9 are made at the proximal end 1a of the body and constitute a lid or cap 2 articulated which is also connected to the body 1 by a hinge 8 obtained by folding the cardboard material at the level of the joining line of the portion of the body 1 forming the cover 2 and the remainder of the body 1, said connecting line being located in the rear wall 12 of the body 1.

In fact, as we see on the Figure 1 , the cuts or pre-cuts extend on 3 of the 4 sides or walls of the box, namely that they are made in the front wall 11 and in the two side walls 13 which face each other and which connect the front wall 11 to the rear wall 12.

More specifically, the body 1 comprises a cut or precut front, that is to say, located on its front face 11, which is substantially perpendicular to the length of the body 1, so parallel to the upper edge of the lid located at the end proximal 1a of the body, as well as oblique cuts or pre-cutouts that are operated in the side walls 13 of the box. The oblique cutouts or pre-cutouts join the cut-out or precut to the hinge-forming fold 8 on the back face 12.

During the first use, the lid 2 can be detached from the remainder of the body 1, then opened, by breaking the cardboard material along the pre-cut lines 9 located on the front faces 11 and side 13 of the body 1, as illustrated. on the Figure 2 .

The cover 2, however, remains attached to the fourth side of the body 1 of the box, that is to say to the face or rear wall 12. The fold of the rear wall 12 forming this fourth side, at the location of the s the junction of the cover 2 to this fourth side 12, creates a hinge 8 around which the lid 2 can be articulated, that is to say pivoting so as to move away or, conversely, to approach the front face 11 of the box which is located vis-à-vis the rear face 12, for the case, or give access (opening action) to the welding rods 6 located inside of the box, either to close close the box (closing action).

The lid 2 is thus integral with the body 1 being retained attached to the rear wall 12 of said body 1 via the hinge 8.

As seen in the Figures, the cover 2 is formed of a portion of the front walls 11, rear 12 and side 13, and an upper surface 14 closing the end of the body 1 of the box.

To reinforce this hinge 8 which has a tendency to deteriorate as the openings / closures of the package and therefore prevent unwanted detachment of the lid 2 or closure cap, is affixed a label 4 on the face rear of the body 1 of the package, which covers the hinge 8. The label 4 thus acts as mechanical reinforcement of the fold forming the hinge 8.

The label 4 can be glued by means of a suitable adhesive on the rear face of the box. Preferably, the label 4 is a self-adhesive label.

The role of the label 2 is therefore to strengthen the hinge 8 and prevent it from tearing too quickly after several successive opening / closing operations. The label 4 is affixed to the back of said box 1, that is to say on the outer surface of the rear wall 12 of the box, and covers all or part of the hinge 8 and the lid 2.

In fact, the label 4 extends over all or part of the rear face 12 of the body 1, in particular it covers at least a portion of the hinge 8 and the rear face portions 12 located on either side of the hinge 8, that is to say on the side of the lid 2, on the one hand, and on the side of the rest of the body 1 of the box, on the other hand, as shown on the FIGS. The label 4 may even extend to the upper surface 14 of the cap 2.

Usually, the information recorded on the label 4 is, for example, the commercial name of the product, the consumable standard, its dimensions, its recommendations for use, the net weight of the product, the name of the manufacturer, its coordinates, the brand, the lot number, a barcode or any other marking, so as to allow easy identification of the contents of the packaging.

According to the invention, a flange 3 is arranged inside the body 1, on the side of the opening 7, as illustrated in FIG. Figure 4 , that is to say that the collar 3 is fixed to the inner wall of the face or front wall of the body 1 and extends internally on the lateral faces 13 of the body 1. The collar 3 is therefore positioned on the inner side of the body 1 and in slight radial withdrawal from the front walls 11 and side 13 so that the cap 2 comes to cover said flange 3 when said cap 2 is folded closed.

The flange 3 is preferably made of cardboard material. It serves to ensure a better sealing of the box after re-closing thereof, particularly after one or more welding rods have been extracted.

The flap lid 2 is fixedly secured to the side facing the flange 3, that is to say to the rear wall. It is articulated by pivoting around the axis formed by the fold forming the hinge 8.

Thanks to the specific positioning of the label 4 at the lid 2 and the hinge 8, said hinge 8 is reinforced, thus limiting the risk of tearing at this location, despite repeated openings / closings performed by the welding operators, including when wearing gloves.

The box 1 is designed so that the lid 2 opens completely up to 180 ° with respect to its closed position, as shown schematically on the Figures 2 and 3 . The lid 2 thus opened and the label 4 placed on the hinge 8 then become a support for the box 1 filled with welding rods 6. This position gives the box a function called "display" and thus improves the conditions of access and use of packaged products.

The position of the label 4 on the box also improves the identification of said box and the products it contains, when the box is in the closed position, and in particular when several packages are stored in a superimposed manner, as on the Figure 4 .

Furthermore, to limit moisture recovery by the welding rods 6 and in order to promote the sorting and recycling of packages emptied of their contents, using a plasticized cardboard to form the body 1 packaging.

As a result, the storage conditions of the packaged products 6 are improved before, during and after the various uses of said box. The shapes of the box 1 are not limited to those shown in the figures. Thus, it may be of square, rectangular, polygonal or circular section insofar as the opening / closing function of the packaging is reinforced by the position of the label at the hinge 8.

The label 4 placed on the packaging 1 may be elongated, square, rectangle, round, oval or oblong. Furthermore, the label may be paper, cardboard, plastic cardboard, plastic or other, and may be repositionable or not.

As illustrated in Figure 3 when the package is in the closed position, placed on a horizontal plane 10, aligned in the user's gaze, with the lid 2 facing it, the label 4 allows rapid identification of the products This is all the more important when several packagings are superimposed on each other in the same direction, as illustrated in FIG. Figure 4 .

For example, a package according to the invention may have a length of 20 cm to 120 cm, and a square or rectangular section of 2 to 7 cm side.

The packages according to the invention are particularly well suited to the packaging of welding rods and having a length typically between 20 cm and 100 cm.

Claims (14)

1. Packaging for a welding rod, comprising an oblong-shaped body (1) comprising a fixed base located at the distal end (1 b) of the body and a closure lid (2) located at the proximal end (1 a) of the body, said body (1), base and lid (2) being made of a cardboard material, the lid (2) being articulated and connected to the body (1) via a hinge (8) located at the intersection of the lid (2) and said body (1), the body (1) comprising a front wall (11) and a rear wall (12) which are separated from each other by two mutually opposing side walls (13), the hinge (8) being formed of a fold in the rear wall (12), and said body (1) further comprising a label (4) glued over at least part of the outer surface of said body (1), the label (4) covering at least part of the fold forming the hinge (8) and at least part of the outer surface of the lid (2), characterised in that a flange (3) is fixed to the inner wall of the front wall or face of the body (1) and extends inwards over the side faces (13) of the body (1), the flange (3) being positioned on the inside of the body (1) and slightly set back radially from the front wall (11) and side walls (13) such that the lid (2) covers said flange (3) when said lid (2) is shut in the closed position.
2. Packaging according to the preceding claim, characterised in that the flange (3) is made of cardboard material.
3. Packaging according to either of the preceding claims, characterised in that the lid (2) is rigidly fixed to the side opposite the flange (3), that is to say to the rear wall (12).
4. Packaging according to any of the preceding claims, characterised in that the lid (2) is pivotally articulated about the axis formed by the fold forming the hinge (8).
5. Packaging according to any of the preceding claims, characterised in that the lid (2) opens completely up to 180° in relation to its closed position.
6. Packaging according to claim 1, characterised in that the body (1) has a polygonal cross-section.
7. Packaging according to any of the preceding claims, characterised in that the body (1) has a square, rectangular or circular cross-section.
8. Packaging according to any of the preceding claims, characterised in that at least the body (1) and the lid (2) are formed of one sheet of cardboard material in which cutouts or pre-cutouts (9) are made.
9. Packaging according to any of the preceding claims, characterised in that the body comprises 4 sides, the lid (2) being formed of cutouts or pre-cutouts (9) made in 3 sides of the body (1).
10. Packaging according to any of the preceding claims, characterised in that the body has a total length of between 20 cm and 120 cm.
11. Packaging according to any of the preceding claims, characterised in that the label (4) covers at least part of the outer surface of the articulated lid (2) and at least part of the outer surface of the rear wall (12) and of the hinge (8).
12. Packaging according to any of the preceding claims, characterised in that the label (4) outwardly covers at least part of the upper surface (14) of the lid (2), of the surface of the rear wall (12) and of the hinge (8).
13. Packaging according to any of the preceding claims, characterised in that the body contains one or more welding rods (6).
14. Method for extracting welding rods from packaging according to any of the preceding claims, characterised in that it comprises a step of opening the lid (2) through 180° in relation to its closed position, the lid (2) then forming a support for the packaging, giving the body (1) a display unit function.
