Definitions

  • the invention relates in particular to a brushed device for a rotating electrical machine, in particular a starter or an alternator of a motor vehicle.
  • the patent KR 430 503 also describes a brushed device for a rotating electric machine.
  • US4114061A discloses a motor vehicle starter according to the preamble of claim 1.
  • the wear of the brushes is linked to the phenomenon of electro-erosion and the speed of the electro-erosion is a function of the intensity of the electric current passing through the brush. It is possible to reduce this electric current by increasing the number of brushes aligned in contact with the rotor collector, which extends the life of the brushes.
  • the invention aims to propose a new brush device.
  • the subject of the invention is therefore a motor vehicle starter according to claim 1.
  • the two brushes of the brush holder assembly are arranged substantially aligned on a straight line parallel to an axis of rotation of the collector.
  • the brush holder assembly is made from a single part.
  • the brush holder assembly is produced by molding or, alternatively, preferably by cutting and folding a sheet metal.
  • the brush holder assembly is made from at least two assembled parts, for example by welding or gluing, each part forming in particular one of the cages of the brush holder assembly.
  • the brush holder assembly is arranged to be mounted on the support by snap-fastening or crimping.
  • the brush holder assembly can be arranged so that, after mounting on the support, the two cages are arranged substantially on either side of the support.
  • the two cages of the brush holder assembly are connected together by a hinge.
  • the two cages of the brush holder assembly form a common housing to receive the two brushes and, after mounting the brush holder assembly on the support, the two brushes of this brush holder assembly are separated from each other by the support.
  • the brushes are arranged in contact with each other and substantially aligned on a straight line parallel to an axis of rotation of the collector.
  • the brushes arranged in a contiguous manner can have a reduced size, which can make it possible to have a relatively compact machine.
  • the brush holder assembly is for example made from a single piece.
  • the brush holder assembly is made from two assembled parts, for example by welding or gluing, each part forming in particular one of the cages of the brush holder assembly.
  • the support comprises an electrically conductive layer interposed between two electrically insulating layers.
  • each cage receives a spring on which the brush placed in this cage applies.
  • This starter 1 comprises, on the one hand, a rotor 2, also called an armature, which can rotate around an axis X, and on the other hand, a stator 3, also called an inductor, around the rotor 2.
  • This stator 3 comprises a yoke on which one or more pole pieces 4 are fixed for the installation of an inductor winding 5.
  • the rotor 2 comprises a rotor body 7, and an armature winding 8 wound in notches of the rotor body 7.
  • This armature winding 8 forms, on either side of the rotor body 7, a front bun 9 and a rear bun 10.
  • the rotor 2 is provided, at the rear, with a collector 12 comprising a plurality of contact parts electrically connected to the conductive elements, formed in the example considered by wires of the armature winding 8.
  • a group of brushes 13 of a brush device 50 is provided for the electrical supply of the armature winding 8, at least one of the brushes 13 being connected to the ground of the starter 1 and at least another of the brushes 13 being connected to a contactor 17.
  • the brushes 13 rub on the collector 12 when the rotor 2 is rotating.
  • the brushes 13 are made for example from carbon.
  • the brush device 50 will be described in more detail below.
  • the starter 1 further comprises a launcher 19 slidably mounted on a drive shaft 18 and capable of being rotated around the axis X by the rotor 2.
  • a speed reducer assembly 20 can be interposed between the rotor 2 and the drive shaft 18, in a manner known per se.
  • the launcher 19 comprises a drive element formed by a pinion 21 and intended to engage on a drive member 33 of the combustion engine.
  • This drive member is for example a toothed crown.
  • the launcher 19 further comprises a free wheel 22 and a pulley washer 23 defining between them a groove 24 to receive the end 25 of a fork 27.
  • This fork 27 is made for example by molding a plastic material.
  • the fork 27 is actuated by the contactor 17 to move the launcher 19 relative to the drive shaft 18, along the axis pinion 21, and a second position in which the launcher 19 is disengaged from the toothed ring 33.
  • the contactor 17 comprises a terminal 29 connected via an electrical connection element, in particular a wire 30, to a vehicle power supply such as a battery 26.
  • the device 50 comprises a support 51 provided with an electrically conductive plate 52, for example made of steel, and having an annular shape perpendicular to the axis X.
  • the plate 52 comprises, on one side 53, two diametrically opposed recesses 54.
  • Each recess 54 receives an insulating insert 55, made for example of thermoset plastic material.
  • This insert 55 includes two holes 57 allowing it to be fixed on the plate 52 using rivets.
  • the thickness of the insert 55 is substantially equal to the depth of the recess 54.
  • the insert 55 is used to mount a brush holder assembly 60 on the support 51.
  • This brush holder assembly 60 comprises two cages 61 and 62 each arranged to receive a brush 13.
  • the brush device 50 comprises four brush holder assemblies 60 each carrying a pair of brushes 13.
  • Two of the assemblies 60 are mounted on the support 51 using insulating inserts 55, the brushes 13 of these assemblies then being connected to a power supply.
  • the two other assemblies 60 are fixed directly to the conductive plate 52, the brushes of these assemblies 60 then being, in this example, grounded.
  • each brush holder assembly 60 is made in one piece, in particular by cutting and folding a steel sheet.
  • cages 61 and 62 are integral with each other, which makes it easier to mount the assembly 60 either on the insulating insert 55 or on the plate 52.
  • the two cages 61 and 62 are connected together by a front hinge 65.
  • the cages 61 and 62 are slightly pushed away from each other by the action of the hinge 62.
  • the hinge 62 is arranged to engage on a radially inner edge 58 of the support 51.
  • Each cage 61; 62 comprises a substantially cylindrical wall 67 with a radial axis Y perpendicular to the axis X and having a substantially rectangular section.
  • the section of the wall 67 is chosen to substantially match the shape of the corresponding brush 13.
  • the wall 67 is split on one side and has a bulge 69 on an opposite side for the passage of a spring.
  • the cages 61 and 62 are open at both radial ends.
  • Each brush holder assembly 60 comprises on a side opposite the hinge 65 two crimping lugs 70, each connecting to a cage 61; 62 (see in particular figure 5 ).
  • the tabs 70 are folded onto an outer edge 59 of the insert 55 (see figures 3 and 4 notably).
  • the brush holder assembly 60 is thus fixed on the insert 55.
  • This assembly obtained is then placed and fixed on the plate 52, in a recess 54, by riveting.
  • the recess 54 of the plate 52 is provided with a recess 72 to allow the cage 62 to pass (see in particular figure 2 ).
  • Another of the brush holder assemblies 60 is fixed directly on the plate 52 in a manner substantially similar to the case of fixing on the insert 55.
  • the plate 52 includes a slot 73 for the passage of the crimping lugs 70 (see figures 2 and 3 notably).
  • the brush holder assemblies 60 can be easily fixed on the support 51.
  • the cages 61 and 62 define separate compartments for the brushes.
