Description

The invention relates to a method for printing on printing paper according to the preamble of claim 1. Furthermore, the invention relates to a digital printing device according to the preamble of claim 8.

From the EP 1 149 703 A is already a method according to the preamble of claim 1 and a device according to the preamble of claim 8 for printing on printing paper with a decor having at least one decorative image for use in sheet-like components forth. The printing paper is printed by a digital printing method by a digital printing method. On the edge of the printing paper, a continuous edge strip marking extending parallel to the decor is printed with at least one longitudinal color strip. The print quality is monitored as a function of the marginal strip mark. In addition to the aforementioned method, a corresponding digital printing device is known from this publication.

Verfahren der vorgenannten Art gehen auch bereits aus der JP 2007 021735 A und der US 2004/264773 A1 hervor.Procedures of the aforementioned type are already out of the JP 2007 021735 A and the US 2004/264773 A1 out.

From the WO 01/14928 A2 For example, a test system for printed products is known, whereby a cut mark is printed for each product and a product is provided with an exclusion marker if a quality defect is detected.

In digital printing, it sometimes happens that the printing process is interrupted. This is the case, for example, when there is no more ink in the ink tank or maintenance is required. When the printing is then continued, the decorative image just printed has usually quality deterioration. The same applies if, for example, during a power failure, the pressure is briefly interrupted. As a rule, prints produced in this way can not continue to be used in production. Since manufacturing processes are usually automated, such an error is often difficult to determine.

The object of the present invention is therefore to provide a method according to claim 1 and a device according to claim 8, wherein prints of poor quality can be detected in a simple manner.

To achieve the above object is now provided according to the invention that the edge of the printing paper is a continuous, parallel to the decor edge trim with at least one longitudinal color strip is printed, which is ultimately printed parallel to the decor, and that the print quality is monitored in dependence on the edge strip marking. Thus, according to the invention, the print quality of the decoration is derived as a whole from the print quality of the marginal strip. If the edge strip has a poor print quality, this means that the decor does not have sufficient quality. The invention thus ultimately provides a method which makes it possible in a simple manner to check by means of an outer edge strip whether the print quality of the decoration overall corresponds to a predetermined print quality. It should be pointed out in this context that the present invention not only extends to printing paper in sheet form, but also in particular for printing paper webs, that is to say on printing paper which is printed on the roll and subsequently rolled up in the printed state. In the latter case, the edge strip marking then extends over the entire length of the printing paper web.

In connection with the present invention, it is additionally provided to provide cut markings in the edge region of the printing paper in addition to the marginal strip marking. Of course, this refers to embodiments in which the printing paper is peeled from a roll and printed. Cut marks are used to indicate those locations where the print paper is subsequently cut into individual sheets. Furthermore, alignment marks can be provided, which ultimately serve for alignment in the further processing of the cut sheets. In connection with the method according to the invention, it is now the case that, depending on the print quality of the decoration, a cut mark is variably arranged after an interruption of the printing process and subsequent continuation. The variable arrangement of the cut mark depends on the print quality of the decor. Ultimately, in the invention so automatically monitors the print quality of the decor. If, for example, the print quality is poor when the digital printing device resumes or the printing process continues, no cut mark is initially set. Only when the print quality of the decor meets the necessary requirements, a corresponding cut mark is set. Printing a cut mark entails simultaneously or subsequently starting printing a new decor image.

It is particularly preferred in this context that the color of the color strip corresponds to the color of the print head. In this case, the color of the edge strip of the edge strip marking is then monitored. Such color comparison is usually easier to do than a color comparison within an entire decor image. Again, there is ultimately an actual-target comparison of the color of the edge strip with the predetermined color of the printhead in question.

It is particularly favorable in this context that the number of color stripes of the edge strip marking corresponds to the number of active print heads of the printing device. In this way, it can then be determined whether all active printheads work and deliver ink of the desired quality. If a quality restriction is detected in the marginal strip monitoring, this means that the decorative image also has quality restrictions.

In principle, it is possible that the pressure of a cut mark can be initiated manually and / or automatically. For example, the print quality can be manually monitored after resuming the printing process. If the print quality of the decor is considered adequate, initiate an appropriate command to start printing the cut mark. At the same time, a new decorative image is then printed on the next paper section. It is preferable, of course, that the pressure of the cut mark be automatically initiated. In this case, it is expedient if the print quality of the decor is automatically monitored. As a result, the digital printing device can ultimately be operated completely automatically.

It is particularly advantageous in this context if the print quality of the decoration can be monitored by means of an optical monitoring device which is associated with the digital printing device. It should preferably be provided that the optical monitoring device compares the current print result after an interruption and subsequent continuation of the printing process with a predetermined print quality and automatically initiates the pressure of a cut mark at a predetermined match of the current print result with the predetermined print quality. At the same time a new paper section is defined and started with the printing of the decorative image on this paper section.

In principle, it is possible that the monitoring device directly monitors the print quality of the decor and thus the decor image with regard to its print quality. In this case, a corresponding sensor is arranged above the decor and then compares the print quality of the decorative image with the specified print quality. Thus, there is an actual target comparison of the decorative image as such or its colors.

Hereinafter, an embodiment of the present invention will be explained with reference to the drawings. In the drawing, a printing paper 1 is shown in the form of an elongated web of a roll. The printing paper 1 may be conventional resinated, partially resinated or doctored paper which may or may not have an ink receiving layer on the printing side. Printed on the printing paper is a printed decor 2. The decor 2 can be any image. The decor 2 has at least one decorative image 3. In the present case, a plurality of decorative images 3 are provided, which are arranged one behind the other in the longitudinal direction L.

In addition to the decor 2, a plurality of markings are respectively provided on the edge, namely in the edge region 4, 5 of both longitudinal edges of the printing paper 1. On the one hand, the markings are so-called cut marks 6, 7, 8 as well as alignment marks 9. The cut marks 6, 7, 8 and alignment markings 9 face one another in each case. The opposite cut marks 6 and the opposite Cut marks 7 define a paper section 10 on which a decorative image 13 is located.

The cut marks 6, 7 serve in the present case as a display for dividing the printing paper web into individual sheets. The alignment marks are used in this context for the corresponding orientation of the printing paper web. When dividing / cutting the printing paper web into individual sheets and the respective paper section can then be further tailored. In the illustrated embodiment, it is such that the decorative image 13 has five identical decor sections 14, which are pressed in the further processing with plate-shaped bodies to flat components, such as panels or panels for floor, wall, ceiling or furniture applications. Incidentally, it is understood that the number of the decorative portions is not limited to five, as shown. It can also be a larger or smaller number of decor sections per decorative image 13 may be provided.

In the illustrated embodiment, it is now so that the individual cut marks 6, 7, 8 are arranged at different distances from each other. The usual distance between two cut marks and thus the usual amount of the paper section defined by the cut marks is determined by the spacing of adjacent cut marks 6, 7 at an edge area. The distance of the cut marks 7 and 8 is considerably smaller than the distance of the cut markers 6, 7. The distance of the cut mark 8 to not shown but in the longitudinal direction following cut mark ultimately corresponds again to the distance of the cut marks 6, 7.

The method for printing on the printing paper 1 is carried out in such a manner that the printing paper 1 is fed from a teaching paper roll to a digital printing device. This can be an ink-jet printer, over which the decor 2 is printed. Before the start of printing, the printing paper 1 is passed from the blank paper roll through a corresponding paper feed of the digital printing apparatus to a paper discharge on which the printing paper 1 is wound into a printed printing paper roll. Then you can start printing. For example, to print the decorative image 13, the cut mark 6 is first printed on both sides. At the same time, via the printheads, which are located on the printer carriage which can be moved on a printer guide, the decorative image 13 is printed. After the registration marks 9 have been printed in the meantime, the cut marks 7 are printed at the end of the decorative image 13. The cut marks 7 on the one hand form the end of the paper section 10 and the beginning of the paper section 11 with a corresponding decorative image 13.

In the present case, the individual decorative images 13 on the paper sections 10, 11, 12 are identical. However, this does not have to be the case. In principle, different decorative images 13 on the individual paper sections 10, 11, 12 may be provided.

During the printing of the decorative image 13 on the paper section 11, the printing process is now interrupted. This may be necessary, for example, for maintenance reasons or to replace an ink tank. Then the printing process continues. During the entire printing process, the print quality of the decor 2 or the respective decorative image 13 is monitored. This is an automatic monitoring by means of a monitoring device, not shown in detail. If it is determined in the optical monitoring after the resumption of printing activity that the print quality of the decorative image 13 corresponds to the predetermined requirements, the cut marks 8 are printed. The cut marks 8 delimit the paper section 11 and represent the beginning of the paper section 12 with a new decorative image 13.

For monitoring the print quality, the optical monitoring device has at least one optical sensor 15, 16. In the illustrated embodiment, the optical sensor 15 is directed directly to the decorative image 13, while the optical sensor 16 is directed to a marginal strip 17, which extends parallel to the decor 2 edge and parallel to the decorative images 13 is printed. The edge strip marking 17 in the present case has a plurality of edge strips 18. The individual marginal strips 18 are colored and correspond in color and number to the color and number of active printheads of the printing device.

The two sensors 15, 16, which are arranged immediately following the printer carriage or the print heads, may alternatively or also be provided jointly. In any case, the two sensors 15, 16 are ultimately coupled to a control device 19 of the printing device 1, which in turn has a comparator, not shown, in which the actual pressure result is compared with the predetermined desired pressure result in an actual target comparison ,
