Definitions
- the invention relates to a device for transferring printed sheets, having a first and a second collecting chain, both of which have a common transfer area for the printed sheets and laterally offset at least in this transfer area and are arranged parallel to each other, wherein the first collecting chain a ridge and a number of drivers which convey the printed sheets astride the ridge in a transporting direction and deliver them to the second collecting chain in the transfer area, and wherein the second collecting chain has at least one conveyor chain with a driver arranged at a predefined distance from each other. Furthermore, the invention relates to a method which can be carried out by means of the device according to the invention and to a saddle stitcher which comprises the device according to the invention.
- Prints are transported in post-press, among other things by means of so-called gathering chains, which typically occur in saddle stitchers.
- Saddle stitchers are machines in which finished printed, folded and stored in investors printed sheets are collected, aligned and then provided in a stapler, for example with a saddle stitch.
- the printed sheets are first conveyed by a first, simple collecting chain in the direction of the stapler. Even before reaching the stitching machine, the printed sheets are passed from the first gathering chain to a second, double collecting chain, which finally feeds the printed sheets to the stapling machine. Solutions are also known in which the second gathering chain is also designed as a simple gathering chain.
- An essential The aspect of this type of print finishing is to process the printed sheets as gently as possible or to transfer them from one station to the next.
- a number of devices and methods have been developed to make the transfer of the signatures from a first to a second gathering chain as gentle as possible.
- EP 0881180 A1 discloses a conveyor system for collating and processing printed sheets.
- the conveyor system comprises a first, a simple and a second, double gathering chain, as well as a transition area, in which the simple enters the double collector chain.
- drivers are arranged, which are responsible for the transport of the printed sheets.
- Each sheet lies astride a ridge of the simple saddle chain.
- a driver is arranged behind each signature, so that it is conveyed in the transport direction.
- the drivers are fixed standing on the simple gathering chain and dive in the transition area, while the double collector chain takes over the respective signature. Due to their standing arrangement, the carriers of the simple gathering chain tilt when diving in the transport direction and give the sheet thereby an additional boost. This can have the effect that the printed sheets get a mark in the back of their fold.
- the EP 1424211 A1 discloses a device for producing bound printed products.
- the collecting chain comprises laterally arranged drivers.
- the printed sheets are transported via a support disk into an intermediate conveying area, from where they are delivered by means of an intermediate conveyor via a sword to a stitching section.
- the stitching section corresponds to the above-mentioned double stitching chain.
- the disadvantage of this solution is the use of additional elements of the intermediate conveying region, such as the support disk, which leads to an increase in the cost of the system.
- the object of the invention is to provide a device and a method with which the transfer of the printed sheets from the first to the second collecting chain can be carried out both gently and inexpensively.
- the second gathering chain has a recess in the region of its driver, which is designed such that a driver of the first collector chain associated with each driver of the second collector chain can be lowered through the respective recess.
- Each driver of the first gathering chain dives in the transfer area and each driver of the second gathering chain.
- the first gathering chain transported astride a first lying printed sheet by means of their driver into the common transfer area of the two collecting chains and passes the sheets in this area to the respective associated driver of the second gathering chain.
- the second collecting chain on a side facing away from the first collecting chain side and fixed to the at least one conveyor chain support elements, wherein the recess is arranged in the transport direction before or after the drivers of the second gathering chain in the support elements or by at least one before or after the Mit vide the second accumulation chain omitted support element of the second accumulation chain is formed.
- Each driver of the first gathering chain is associated with a driver of the second gathering chain such that the drivers of the first collector chain can be lowered through the corresponding recesses of the support elements of the second collector chain.
- each driver of the first collector chain emerges in the transfer region and each driver of the second collector chain emerges.
- the takers of the first gathering chain are the ones in each of them associated carrier of the second collecting chain in the support elements arranged recess passed.
- the inventive device is used in particular in a saddle stitcher.
- the method and the device for carrying out the method make it possible to deliver the printed sheets gently from the first to the second collector chain.
- the inventive device also allows to save some elements. For example, the support wheel and the intermediate conveyor from the EP 1424211 A1 not necessary anymore. This reduces the cost of manufacturing and maintaining the device.
- Fig. 1 shows a side view of an inventive device 1, which is part of a non-illustrated, equipped with a number of investors and a stapler saddle stitcher.
- the device 1 is equipped with a first, a simple and a second, double collecting chain 2, 3.
- the sake of clarity only schematically illustrated first gathering chain 2 transported astride on their ridge 4 lying sheet 5 in a transport direction T by means of a number of drivers 6.
- the drivers 6 are distributed along the first gathering chain 2 at a distance a1 to each other.
- the first gathering chain 2 moves into a transfer area 7 shown in vertical dashed lines in the second gathering chain 3. In this transfer area 7, the printed sheets 5 are delivered from the first gathering chain 2 to the second gathering chain 3.
- the second gathering chain 3 comprises a first and a second conveyor chain 8, 9, with chain links 8 ', 9', on each of which support elements 10, 10 'are arranged for the printed sheets 5 ( Fig. 2 ).
- support elements 10, 10 'are drivers 11, 11' of the second gathering chain 3 is fixed, to which these support elements 11, 11 'may be configured accordingly.
- the support elements 10, 10 ' also be designed as a driver 11, 11'.
- the drivers 11, 11 'are arranged in pairs opposite to the first and the second conveyor chain 8, 9 of the second gathering chain 3 and distributed along the conveyor chains 8, 9 at a predefined distance a2 to each other.
- the support elements 10, 10 'of the second gathering chain 3 have in the region of each pair of drivers 11, 11' and in the transport direction T before or after this pair of carriers 11, 11 'a recess 12, through which in each case a driver during operation of the device 1 6 of the first gathering chain 2 descends.
- the recess 12 by at least one before or after this pair of drivers 11, 11 'omitted support element 10, 10' of the second gathering chain 3 are formed.
- the immersion describes a movement of a driver 6 as soon as it leaves the transport direction T of the printed sheet 5 and a rotatably mounted on a machine frame, not shown, the device 1 first deflecting element 13a of the first gathering chain 2 follows.
- a driver 6 of the first gathering chain 2 emerges a pair of carriers 11, 11 'of the second gathering chain 3.

- the first and second gathering chains 2, 3 are each moved by a drive of their own, not shown.
- the first and the second gathering chain 2, 3 are designed as endless chains and comprise, after the manner of a typical endless belt, in each case at its two ends arranged further deflecting elements 13c, 14c.
- further deflection elements 13c, 14c arranged in the transfer area 7 are shown, i. a deflecting element 13c at the downstream end of the first gathering chain 2 and a deflecting element 14c at the upstream end of the second gathering chain 3.
- both the deflecting elements 13a, 13b, 13c of the first gathering chain 2 and the deflecting elements 14a, 14b, 14c of the second gathering chain 3 as Sprocket, pulley or the like may be formed.
- fixed deflection elements such as deflection curves can be used.
- both gathering chains 2, 3 have the same chain pitches in the transport direction T and are operated at the same speeds.
- the gathering chains 2, 3 each have a different chain pitch of, for example, 14 or 15 inches and are operated at correspondingly adapted speeds.
- the two alternative embodiments allow an adaptation of the inventive device 1 to various standards of print finishing machines.
- the first and the second gathering chain 2, 3 are each operated in the transport direction T with such a chain speed that the Abtauch- or Auftauchfrequenzen the driver 6, 11, 11 'are the same. This results from the necessity that the driver 6 of the first gathering chain 2 can only submerge when the recess 12 of the support elements 10, 10 'in the corresponding pair of carriers 11, 11' of the second gathering chain 3 is in a corresponding position ,

- Another, already submerged driver 6a of the first gathering chain 2 is the driver 6 upstream in the transport direction T.
- the descending driver 6a initially follows the curvature of the deflecting element 13a. Then it moves in a straight line and becomes on in Fig.
- the first gathering chain 2 is deflected obliquely downwards by the deflecting element 13a, before it is deflected by the further deflecting element 13c substantially opposite to the transporting direction T.
- the deflection of the first gathering chain 2 helps to improve the gentle transfer of the printed sheets 5. The reasons for this are related below Fig. 4 by explaining the chain speed. Subsequently, the first gathering chain 2 including the driver 6 attached to it by means of the also in Fig.
- the first deflecting element 13a and the further deflecting element 13c arranged at the downstream end of the first gathering chain 2 are identical.
- the first gathering chain 2 emerges between the first and the second conveyor chain 8, 9 of the second gathering chain 3.
- a distance a3 between the first and the second conveyor chain 8, 9 by a predefined safety distance greater than a transversely to the transport direction T extending width B of the driver 6 of the first gathering chain 2, wherein the width B in each case by the distance between the two-sided outer Completion of the driver 6 is defined.
- the device 1 according to the invention depending on the arrangement of the recess 12, there are two possibilities of dipping the carrier 6, either in the transport direction T behind or in front of the pair of carriers 11, 11 '.
- Fig. 2 is the first possibility presented.
- Fig. 3 and Fig. 4 They present snapshots before and during descent of one of the driver 6 of the first gathering chain 2, wherein also the first possibility of the order of descent, ie a descent upstream of the pair of associated with him driver 11, 11 'of the second gathering chain 3 is shown.

Prints are transported in post-press, among other things by means of so-called gathering chains, which typically occur in saddle stitchers. Saddle stitchers are machines in which finished printed, folded and stored in investors printed sheets are collected, aligned and then provided in a stapler, for example with a saddle stitch. As a rule, the printed sheets are first conveyed by a first, simple collecting chain in the direction of the stapler. Even before reaching the stitching machine, the printed sheets are passed from the first gathering chain to a second, double collecting chain, which finally feeds the printed sheets to the stapling machine. Solutions are also known in which the second gathering chain is also designed as a simple gathering chain. An essential The aspect of this type of print finishing is to process the printed sheets as gently as possible or to transfer them from one station to the next. A number of devices and methods have been developed to make the transfer of the signatures from a first to a second gathering chain as gentle as possible.

In the illustrated embodiment, both gathering
The first and the
In another, not shown embodiment of the
In

The consideration of the sufficient length L of the

In a first snapshot A1, the
In a second snapshot A2, the
In a third snapshot A3, the
In a fourth snapshot A4, the
In a fifth snapshot A5, the
In a sixth snapshot A6, the
In order to ensure synchronization both during the first and during the second passage of the
