Divers aménagements optionnels et variantes du wagon 1 sont par ailleurs envisageables. A titre d'exemples :

  • les deux dispositifs de chargement et déchargement peuvent être synchronisés en ce qui concerne le déplacement de leur chariot 44, en particulier lorsque les rails à manutentionner 2 présentent une longueur supérieure à la moitié de celle de la plate-forme 10 ;
  • de même, si les rails à manutentionner 2 sont plus longs que la plate-forme 10, deux voire davantage de wagons 1 sont associés "en série" et asservis conjointement ;
  • en cas de disfonctionnement du moteur 86 et des moteurs d'entraînement analogues ou, plus généralement, en cas de coincement des panneaux mobiles 741, 742, 761 et 762, les moteurs précités intègrent un système de débrayage manuel que l'utilisateur sollicite pour, le cas échéant, entraîner manuellement un ou plusieurs des panneaux mobiles entre leurs positions escamotée et déployée ;
  • à des fins de sécurité, le wagon 1 est équipé de plusieurs boutons d'arrêt d'urgence ;
  • l'alimentation électrique des différents moteurs embarqués sur le wagon 1 est assurée soit par une source extérieure si celle-ci est disponible, soit par un groupe électrogène également embarqué sur le wagon 1, notamment agencé dans le châssis 12, un tel groupe électrogène étant par exemple visé par la référence 98 à la figure 1, et/ou
  • divers éléments d'équipement conventionnels du wagon 1 peuvent être rapportés sur celui-ci, du moment qu'ils ne gênent pas le déploiement des panneaux mobiles ; en particulier, des lampes d'éclairage, visées par les références 99, peuvent être agencées au niveau du châssis 12 ainsi que le long du côté inférieur de la poutre 68.
Various optional arrangements and variants of the car 1 are also possible. As examples:

  • the power supply of the various engines on board the car 1 is ensured either by an external source if it is available, or by a generator also embedded on the wagon 1, in particular arranged in the frame 12, such a generator being for example referred to by reference 98 to the figure 1 , and or
  • various conventional equipment items of car 1 may be reported on it, as long as they do not interfere with the deployment of movable panels; in particular, lighting lamps, referred to by the references 99, may be arranged at the frame 12 as well as along the lower side of the beam 68.

Claims (10)

  1. Car (1) for handling heavy loads such as rails (2), comprising, on the one hand, an elongate platform (10) for transporting loads on a railway track, said platform being equipped with at least one loading and unloading device (30) for handling the loads laterally to the platform, and, on the other hand, a roof (60) for covering the platform, which roof is situated above the loading and unloading device or devices,
    characterised in that the roof (60) comprises both at least one fixed roof element (721, 722), which is rigidly connected to the platform (10) and which covers a first longitudinal portion (10A, 10B) of the platform, and at least one movable roof element (741, 761, 742, 762) which is displaceable relative to the fixed roof element between an extended position, in which the movable roof element protrudes, at least substantially, from the fixed roof element in the longitudinal direction of the platform and thus covers a second longitudinal portion (10C, 10D, 10E, 10F) of the platform, adjacent to the first portion of the platform, and a retracted position, in which the movable roof element and the fixed roof element are, at least substantially, superposed in the vertical direction so that the second portion of the platform is uncovered at the top,
    and in that the car further comprises control means (92) which, when the or at least one of the movable roof elements (741, 761, 742, 762) is not in its extended position, deactivate the loading and unloading device or devices (30) and which, when the or all the movable roof elements are in the extended position, allow the loading and unloading device or devices (30) to be used for handling the loads laterally to the platform (10).
  2. Car according to claim 1, characterised in that it further comprises motorised means (86) for driving the or each movable roof element (741, 761, 742, 762) between its extended and retracted positions, said motorised means preferably including a manual clutch system.
  3. Car according to claim 2, characterised in that the control means (92) are adapted to control the motorised drive means (86).
  4. Car according to any one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the control means (92) are connected to end of travel detectors (90) which are adapted to detect the presence of the or each movable roof element (741, 761, 742, 762) at least when it is in its extended position.
  5. Car according to any one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the control means (92) are connected to at least one warning light (94) and/or audible warning device (96).
  6. Car according to any one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the or each fixed roof element (721, 722) is associated with two movable roof elements (741, 761, 742, 762) which, in their extended position, are situated on both sides of the fixed roof element, opposite one another in the longitudinal direction of the platform (10).
  7. Car according to claim 6, characterised by two fixed roof elements (721 and 722) which are arranged in the longitudinal direction of the platform (10) in such a manner that the movable roof elements (761 and 742) associated with the two fixed roof elements and situated between those two fixed roof elements are next to one another or overlap when they are both in their extended position.
  8. Car according to any one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the or one of the fixed roof elements (721, 722) is arranged in vertical alignment with the or each loading and unloading device (30).
  9. Car according to any one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the or each loading and unloading device (30) comprises an arm (40) for lifting the loads (2), which arm is carried by the platform (10) in such a manner that it is pivotable about a vertical axis (38) between a rest position, in which the arm extends lengthwise in the longitudinal direction of the platform and is wholly covered by the or one of the fixed roof elements (721, 722), and a working position, in which the arm extends lengthwise substantially perpendicularly to the longitudinal direction of the platform.
  10. Use of a car (1) according to any one of the preceding claims,
    wherein, when the car (1) is at a maintenance station which does not have a catenary system, heavy loads, such as rails (2), are handled laterally to the platform (10) of the car by means of an aerial installation which is partially introduced through at least one open zone (Z) in the roof (60) in vertical alignment with the second portion or portions (10C, 10D, 10E, 10F) of the platform when the or each of the movable roof elements (741, 761, 742, 762) is in its retracted position;
    and
