Abstract

There is disclosed a water collecting vessel (5) for a centre pivot window (2), which is provided with connecting means (6) for securing the collecting vessel (5) to the underside (4) of the swung-around window (2). The connecting means are configured as support means (6) which engage behind said underside (4) of the centre pivot window (2). The window is in particular provided with ventilation openings (8) which can be closed by means of ventilation valves (10), and the support means (6), being supported on the underside of the ventilation openings (8), engage behind said at least one ventilation valve (10) in a stable manner. In this way the swung-around window (2) can be properly washed, and excess water will run into the vessel (5).

Description

  • The present invention relates to a water collecting vessel for a centre pivot window, comprising connecting means for connecting the collecting vessel to the underside of the swung-around window.
  • The present invention also relates to a centre pivot window provided with a water collecting vessel.
  • Such a water collecting vessel is known from NL 1013092 . The known collecting vessel is provided with hook means, which may be configured in various ways, to be connected to the window or the frame. By connecting the collecting vessel to the underside - in the swung-around position - of the centre pivot window, usually a roof window, the glass pane can be cleaned and the dirty washing water will fall into the collecting vessel rather than on the floor or on furniture in the house. After said cleaning, the vessel is unhooked, the washing water is disposed of and the window, which now has a clean outer side, is swung back again.
  • A drawback of the known collecting vessel is that in practice aids or accessories need to be used and possibly attached to the centre pivot window for connecting the hook means thereto.
  • The object of the present invention is to provide an improved collecting vessel, which is of simpler design and which does not require any additional means, for use in cleaning the outer surface, inter alia of the glass pane, of the centre pivot window.
  • In order to accomplish that object, the collecting vessel according to the invention is characterised in that the connecting means are configured as support means which engage behind said underside of the centre pivot window.
  • The collecting vessel according to the invention has the advantage that the support means, which may be configured as separate support means, but which are preferably permanently integrated with the collecting vessel, engage around the aforesaid underside (i.e. the upper side in the swung-back position of the window) and can be connected thereto and be disconnected therefrom in a simple manner, without any additional means or auxiliary means being required.
  • One embodiment of the collecting vessel according to the invention is characterised in that said underside of the centre pivot window is provided with one or more openings, and that the support means comprise projections which, being passed through said at least one opening, engage the centre pivot window.
  • The advantage of this is that the collecting vessel can be readily used with this type of pivot windows, with the support means being firmly supported in the openings in the connected condition of the collecting vessel.
  • Another embodiment, which effects a stable and secure locking engagement between the collecting vessel and the window in the swung-around position thereof, is characterised in that the openings are ventilation openings which can be closed by means of one or more ventilation valves, and that the support means, being supported on the underside of the ventilation openings, engage behind said at least one ventilation valve.
  • Further detailed embodiments, which are defined in the other claims, and their advantages are set forth in the description of the figures below.
  • The water collecting vessel according to the present invention will now be explained in more detail with reference to the figures below, in which like parts are indicated by the same numerals. In the drawing:
    • Figure 1 shows a possible embodiment of a water collecting vessel according to the invention; and
    • Figure 2 is a detail view showing the manner in which, in a preferred embodiment of the collecting vessel according to the invention, projections extending through openings in the window engage behind ventilation valves that close said openings.
  • Figure 1 shows a casing 1 (illustrated in dotted lines) of a centre pivot window 2 which is pivot-mounted therein. The window 2 is shown in a swung-around position, in which the top rail 3 of the window 2 forms the underside 4. A water collecting vessel 5 is provided with connecting means 6 (yet to be explained hereinafter) for connecting the collecting vessel 5 to the underside 4 of the swung-around window 2. The connecting means are configured as support means 6 engaging behind the underside 4 of the centre pivot window 2. The support means are provided with projections 7, which, in one possible embodiment, engage around the frame strip 3.
  • With known windows, type or make Velux®, one or more openings 8, such as ventilation openings, are provided in the aforesaid underside 4, which is located at the upper frame strip 3 of the window 2, through which openings the projections 7 extend, which projections for example engage the top rail 3 of the centre pivot window 2 in that position. The underside 9 of the projections 7 is supported in the opening 8, thereby holding the collecting vessel in the correct position, in which position excess washing water from the glass pane in the window 2 and the top rail 3 can run into the water collecting vessel 5.
  • In an embodiment of the collecting vessel 5 that is shown in figure 2, the ventilation valves 10, which are capable of closing the ventilation openings 8, are shown to be open. The projections 7 of the support means 6, which extend through the ventilation openings 8, engage behind the ventilation valve 10 in a stable manner in this embodiment, and the collecting vessel 5 will securely remain in its position under the influence of its own weight.
  • Generally, two or more support means 6 are fixed under and/or to the upright edge 11 of the collecting vessel 5. The support means 6 and the projections are preferably formed on the window upon being injection-moulded in one piece therewith.
  • The collecting vessel 5 may have a structure or be configured such that the width of the vessel 5 is adjustable. An example of this is a harmonica structure, which makes it possible not only to adjust the width of the collecting vessel 5 but also to store it in folded condition as a low-volume unit which takes up little space. The collecting vessel 5 may in that case be made of pressed paper, for example, provided with a suitable water-resistant protective layer or coating.
  • The vessel 5 may be made of a light metal, such as aluminium, if desired.
  • As figure 1 furthermore shows, the centre pivot window 2 is provided with a key 12 to be placed between the window casing 1 and the pivot window 2. Said key is an instrument which prevents the window 2 from pivoting away after it has been swung around, thus making it possible to wash the window properly without the window swinging away. The key 12 may have several connecting means 13 in the form of openings or hooks for bridging the desired adjustable distance, in order that the pivoted adjustable window 2 can be locked in the desired angular position while it is being washed.
