Description

DESCRIPTION "CONDITIONING STATION FOR NAVAL APPLICATION AND ASSEMBLY
METHOD THEREOF"
[0001] The present invention relates to a conditioning station for naval application comprising an air conditioning unit, known as ACS (air conditioning station) .
[0002] As is known in the naval sector, the attainment of a conditioning station takes place when the section has already been taken aboard; therefore assembly is entirely performed onboard.
[0003] The assembly of the conditioning station must therefore be coordinated with the assembly times and methods of the other parts of the vessel, such as the creation of all other systems for example.
[0004] Therefore the assembly of the conditioning station of the prior art are often slow, costly and complicated. [0005] The problem of the present invention is to solve the disadvantages mentioned above with reference to the prior art.
[0006] Such disadvantages and limits are solved by a conditioning station in accordance with claim 1 and by an assembly method in accordance with claim 14.
[0007] Other embodiments of the conditioning station according to the invention are described in the subsequent claims .
[0008] Further features and the advantages of the present invention will appear more clearly from the following description of preferred non-limiting embodiments thereof, wherein:
[0009] figure 1 shows a perspective view of a conditioning station according to an embodiment of the present invention; [0010] figure 2 shows a side view of the station of figure 1, from the side of arrow II of figure 1;
[0011] figure 3 shows a perspective view of a component of the conditioning station of figure 1;
[0012] figure 4 shows an orthogonal view of a detail of the conditioning station of figure 1, in an assembly configuration on a vessel.
[0013] With reference to the above figures, reference 4 generically denotes a conditioning unit 8 suitable to generate a flow of conditioned air inside an associable vessel 12. The conditioning unit 8, commonly known as "AC station" preferably comprises all devices, with related accessories, for the generation of the conditioned air flow.
[0014] Advantageously, the conditioning station 4 comprises at least one supporting frame 16 for the conditioning unit 8 and related accessories. [0015] The supporting frame 16 is load bearing for the conditioning unit 8 and is mechanically separate from the frame of the hull 20 of the vessel 12. In other words, the supporting frame 16 is build on shore, separately from the frame of the hull 20 of the vessel 12; therefore the supporting frame 16 is capable of supporting the conditioning unit 8, including its related accessories. [0016] According to an embodiment, the supporting frame 16 comprises a plurality of supporting beams 24 positioned according to a reticular structure that distinguishes housing areas for one or more conditioning units 8. [0017] Preferably, the said supporting beams 24 are welded to one another.
[0018] Preferably, the supporting frame distinguishes a plurality of decks 32 that support the conditioning unit 8 and that, in an introduction configuration of the conditioning station 4 in a vessel, integrate and connect with the decks of the vessel 36.
[0019] Preferably, the supporting frame 16 comprises reinforcing elements 40 suitable to allow the assembly of the conditioning station 4 outside the vessel 12 and the subsequent embarkation of the conditioning station 4 inside the vessel . [0020] In particular, the said reinforcing elements 40 allow the handing, subject to lifting by means of crane and relative eyebolt, of the entire conditioning station 4 without it being damaged. [0021] According to an embodiment, the said reinforcing elements 40 comprise oblique beams 44 in relation to the reticulation of the supporting frame 16, so as to create a bracing function for the frame itself. [0022] Preferably, the said reinforcing elements 40, as oblique beams 44 for example, are removable so that they can be extracted from the supporting frame 16 after the embarkation of the conditioning station 4 has been performed. In this way the weight of the conditioning station 4 can be reduced. [0023] According to a preferred embodiment, the reinforcing elements 40 are connected to the supporting frame 16 by means of threaded connection means. [0024] Advantageously, the supporting frame 16 comprises structural elements 48 suitable to be mechanically constrained to structural beams 52 of the hull frame 20, so as to establish combined and integrated parts of the hull frame 20.
[0025] According to an embodiment, the structural elements 48 comprise protruding extremities 56, in comparison to the supporting frame 16, so as to ease the mechanical connection with the hull frame 20. [0026] Preferably, the protruding extremities 56 comprise connection jigs 60.
[0027] The structural elements 48 are welded to the hull frame 20. In embodiments that foresee connection jigs
60, the said jigs 60 are welded on site both to the structural elements 48 of the supporting frame 16 as well as to the hull frame 20.
[0028] The assembly method of a conditioning station 4 in accordance with the present invention shall now be described.
[0029] The assembly initially foresees the preparation phase of a supporting frame for an integrated conditioning unit 8. The frame, a's described, comprises supporting beams 24, structural elements 48 and reinforcing elements 40.
[0030] Proceed with the integration phase to the supporting frame 16 of a conditioning unit 8 for vessels equipped at least partially with the related accessories as well as ducts and pipes .
[0031] The conditioning station 4 is pre-assembled so as to create a conditioning station ashore; the conditioning station 4 is then moved, lifting for example by means of a crane and related eyebolts connected to the supporting frame 16. [0032] According to an embodiment, the conditioning station 4 is introduced from above between the stumps of the structural beams 52 of the hull frame 20. According to a further embodiment, a lateral introduction of the conditioning station 4 into the hull is possible.
[0033] Then the conditioning unit 8 is operatively connected to the systems of the vessel; possibly, in feasible embodiments that foresee the use of structural elements 48 of the supporting frame 16, the supporting frame 16 is then mechanically connected with the hull frame 20, so that at least one structural element 48 of the supporting frame 16 become an integral part of a structural beam 52 of the hull frame 20. [0034] Preferably, the mechanical connection phase between the supporting frame 16 and the hull frame 20 is made by means of welding between the free and mutually facing extremities of the related frames 16,20.
[0035] According to an embodiment, the mechanical connection phase between the supporting frame 16 and the hull frame 20 is made through the interposition of a connection jig 60 that is welded to the related frames 16,20.
[0036] Once the mechanical connection has been made between the conditioning station 4 and the hull frame 20, the removable reinforcing elements 40 are then removed from the supporting frame 16 in order to reduce the weight of the conditioning station 4. [0037] As can be understood from the description, the conditioning station of the present invention allows overcoming the disadvantages of the prior art .
[0038] In fact, the present invention allows increasing the assembly performance and improving the working conditions for the workers, radically modifying the realisation process of the conditioning station.
[0039] Thanks to the fact that the conditioning stations are made ashore, their assembly can be optimised and accelerated due to the fact that there are no structural obstacles caused by parts of the vessel.
[0040] In this manner the working conditions of the workers are improved and it is also possible to proceed at the same time with the assembly of the conditioning station and the other systems of the vessel without having to necessarily coordinate the two phases.
[0041] The supporting from constitutes a load bearing structure suitable to fully support the conditioning station; for example the air treatment unit, the fans and all equipment present on the station can be pre- assembled. In fact, advantageously, the supporting frame comprises a large part of the ducts and piping of the systems .
[0042] In this way the work ashore can be maximised so as to permit embarkation, by means of the supporting frame, of a conditioning station complete in all systems .
[0043] Subsequently, in order to render the station operative, only the connection operations are necessary
(electrical, mechanical and hydraulic) with the onboard systems that in the mean time can be made and completed at the same time as the assembly of the conditioning unit.
[0044] Advantageously, the supporting structure comprises the removable reinforcing elements that permit the handling of the station from land for embarkation on the vessel. In other words, the said reinforcing elements serve only to prevent deformation or breakage of the supporting frame during its handling. In fact, the said reinforcing elements essentially act as bracings.
[0045] Once embarkation has been completed, the said removable reinforcing elements are advantageously removed so as to reduce the overall weight of the conditioning station. In fact, the said removable elements are required for the handling and embarkation of the station, but once assembly is complete, they constitute a superfluous weight increase for the vessel . [0046] According to possible embodiments, the supporting frame can comprise structural elements that, following the embarkation of the station, participate at least partially to the structural resistance of the vessel .
[0047] In fact, the structural hull beams or girders of the vessel are advantageously interrupted so as to allow the housing of the conditioning station.
[0048] According to possible embodiments, with the interruption of the beams of the vessel, the entire pre- assembled conditioning station can be lowered onboard the vessel from above and subsequently the mechanical connection can be performed between the stubs of the vessel's beams and the structural elements of the supporting frame.
[0049] The mechanical connection between the structural elements of the vessel and the structural elements of the supporting frame of the conditioning station can be easily made on site by means of welding, bolting or similar for example.
[0050] A man skilled in the art may make several changes and adjustments to the conditioning station described above, all falling within the scope of the invention defined in the following claims.
