Description

Transportation device
The invention relates to a transportation device particularly for handling of cassettes, trestles, containers and/or like, which device has movement means enabling movement on the ground, a pulling device, equipped with a cabin and an essentially built-in load rear part, and power transmission means at least for power transmission for driving.
In the purpose described above e.g. in ports or industrial environments it is nowadays known to use pulling devices, either being equipped with a built-in lifting transportation rear part, the devices being steerable manually or automatically like so called AGV (Automatic Guided Vehicle) -devices , or devices to be coupled with separate lifting transportation carriages by a so called fifth wheel arrangement. This kind of lifting transportation devices have typically hydrostatically operated actuators for the lifting of load existing on the lifting transportation rear part or carriage. The actuators being used typically comprise actuator organs in connection with wheel assemblies of the lifting transportation rear part or carriage and/or in connection with an articulation assembly in the fifth wheel arrangement of a separate pulling device, such as hydraulic cylinder arrangements in order to change a ground clearance of the lifting transportation rear part or carriage.
The load platforms being used usually in this context for their part have so called lower tunnels, in which the lifting transportation rear part or carriage can be driven when being lowered. The height of the tunnel in the load platform depends on the type of the cassette being used at any given time, whereby the tunnel height of cassettes being used particularly in maritime operations, is minimized. In figure 3 is shown a typical load platform, the dimensions of which vary depending of its operational purpose typically within the following limits :
- Ll: 2133 mm - 2700 mm,
- L2 : 2359 mm - 3000 mm,
- a: 50° - 60° and,
- h: 703 mm - 1000 mm.
It is also possible to use as load platforms, instead of structures of so called cassette-type being described above, separate or fixed trestle assemblies of the type shown in figure 3.
With pulling devices to be coupled with a separate lifting transportation carriage, nowadays a risk of so called tipping back of the pulling device is always involved, e.g. when a load is being moved onto a ramp. This kind of a risk for tipping is due to the fifth wheel arrangement coupling the pulling device with the lifting transportation carriage, whereby the arrangement causes a high moment to the pulling device. Use of a separate pulling device requires furthermore coupling arrangements between the same and the lifting transportation carriage in order to couple the same with each other in addition to a mechanically demanding coupling as such, also electrically and/or hydraulically, which can be carried out significantly easier when a pulling device is being used that is equipped with a built-in lifting transportation rear part. Operating with a built-in lifting transportation device is instead very much easier from the operators point of view, when compared to a device combination that bends sidewardly. For the part of the functioning of this kind of an integrated lifting transportation device, however, a need for development has also been found particularly for the part of its movement means. It is an aim of the transportation device according to the present invention to achieve a decisive improvement in the problems described above and thus to raise essentially the level of prior art. In order to carry out this aim, the transportation device according to the invention is mainly characterized by what has been defined in the characterizing part of the independent claim related thereto.
As the most important advantages of the transportation device according to the invention may be mentioned simplicity and efficiency of the constructions enabled by the same as well as of its use, in addition to which by virtue thereof also safety at work can be significantly improved e.g. in load handling in port or terminal use etc. Thanks to the fact that the invention makes it possible particularly to carry out the movement means of the transportation device unrotatively with respect to the longitudinal axis of the transportation device, a significant improvement in safety at work is resulted due to the fact that the load rear part or transportation device as a whole may not get tilted e.g. when the same is being loaded or discharged. On the other hand by arranging the movement means turnable, it is possible to ease significantly control and steering of the transportation device e.g. in port or terminal environments being usually very narrow .
Other advantageous embodiments of the transportation device according to the invention have been presented in the dependent claims related thereto.
In the following description the invention is illustrated in detail with reference to the appended drawings , in which in figure 1 is shown an advantageous transportation device according to the invention as a side view,
in figures 2a and 2b is shown an advantageous wheel solution being used in the transportation device according to the invention as a longitudinal cross section and as a view seen from above,
in figure 3 are shown a typical load platform to be used in connection with the transportation device according to the invention and a frame assembly, being an alternative to the above, and
in figure 4 are shown advantageous steering principles of the transportation device according to the invention.
The invention relates to a transportation device particularly for handling of cassettes, trestles, containers and/or like, which device has movement means 3 enabling movement on the ground, a pulling device 2, equipped with a cabin 2b and an essentially built-in load rear part 2a, and power transmission means at least for power transmission for driving. The movement means 3, existing in the transportation device at least partly underneath the load rear part 2a, are arranged turnable w in order to enable steering of the transportation device at least partly by influence thereof and unrotatable in respect with a longitudinal axis s of the transportation device at least in order to prevent tilting of the load rear part 2a in a crosswise direction p. As an advantageous embodiment of the transportation device according to the invention, the movement means
3 are coupled with a frame R' of the transportation device by a suspension arrangement 4, which enables a simultaneous twisting movement of the movement means 3 existing at opposite sides of the transportation device and being coupled with each other mechanically, the twisting taking place around an essentially vertical axis z. On the other hand the suspension arrangement 4 is arranged by an essentially mechanical coupling to enable an essentially simultaneous symmetrical movement of the movement means 4, existing at opposite sides of the transportation device, in a direction h of height.
Furthermore as an advantageous embodiment, the frame of the transportation device is arranged as a stiff unrotative structure in relation to its longitudinal axis s .
Particularly with reference to figures 2a and 2b, the suspension arrangement 4 comprises an auxiliary frame 4a that is coupled with the frame R of the transportation device and that is turnable w in a horizontal plane around a vertical axis z. The suspension arrangement 4 comprises furthermore an intermediate frame 4b, being coupled in an around an essentially horizontal axis x winding manner o, such as jointedly, with the axiliary frame 4a, whereby the movement means 3, such as wheel assemblies 3a are coupled with the intermediate frame by a swaged link
4c, being mounted therein on bearing, by influence of which the wheels 3a remain automatically in a correct position despite winding of the intermediate frame 4b.
Furthermore as an advantageous embodiment particularly with reference to figure 2a, the suspension arrangement
4 comprises a bogie structure 4b' , with which at least two successive wheels or groups of wheels 3a' in a longitudinal direction s are coupled on both sides of the transportation device.
As an advantageous embodiment of the transportation device particularly with reference to figures 2a and
2b, it comprises auxiliary powered, such as hydraulic and/or electric actuators 5; 5a and/or 5b for enabling the turning movement w of the suspension arrangement 4, such as the auxiliary frame 4a, and/or a spring and/or lifting movement in a direction h of height of the transportation device, achieved by the winding o of the intermediate frame 4b.
Particularly with reference to figure 4, the wheel assemblies 3, existing successively in the longitudinal direction s of the transportation device, are arranged as a further advantageous embodiment independently controllable particularly in order to enable cornering steered by all wheels or so called parallel steering.
It is clear that the invention is not limited to the embodiments shown or described above, but instead it can be modified within the limits of the ground idea of the invention according to the operating purposes and embodiments at any given time within the scope of protection of the enclosed claims. So, it is first of all clear that the transportation device according to the invention can be exploited in environments concerning e.g. steel, paper or concrete industry for intermediate storing and further processing of products, whereby the transportation device to be used may have e.g. a bigger or smaller amount of wheel assemblies than in the solutions presented in the appended drawings, because depending on the nature of the operation, the load to be handled varies typically from about 30 tons up to 150 tons. Naturally it is clear that the operating principles and structures of the movement means, existing beneath the load rear part, can be exploited also in the movement means below the pulling device. On the other hand, e.g. depending on the circumstances, there may be a need to carry out a part of the movement means of the transportation device operative e.g. by caterpillar drive.
