    - an elongate element (11) for fixing the sanitary fitting (12) to the support bracket (13), the elongate element (11) in its in-use configuration being positioned in an insertion hole (14) which passes substantially vertically through an upper part (15) of the toilet pan (12), the elongate element (11) having, on its first end portion, first means for connection to a seat mounting means (16) of the seat, the elongate element (11) having, on its second end portion, second means for connection to the support bracket (13), the elongate element (11) also having an outer shoulder (17) which rests against an inner shoulder (18) provided in the insertion hole (14), and
    - means for opposing contact between the elongate element (11) and the toilet pan (12) such that the means, at least in a portion of the insertion hole (14) that contains the inner shoulder (18), are interposed between the toilet pan (12) and the elongate element (11).
  2. Combination according to claim 1, characterised in that the second connection means of the elongate element (11) comprise a threaded shank (19) arranged to be screwed onto the support bracket (13).
  3. Combination according to claim 2, characterised in that the elongate element (11) has on its first end portion a polygonal head (20) which, at its end facing the second end portion, defines the outer shoulder (17), the polygonal head (20) being suitable for being brought into engagement with a socket of matching shape in order to tighten the threaded shank (19) on the support bracket (13).
  4. Combination according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterised in that the means opposing contact between the elongate element (11) and the toilet pan (12) include a sleeve (21) which surrounds at least a portion of the elongate element (11) and is provided with an annular flange (22) for arrangement between the outer shoulder (17) and the inner shoulder (18) so as to oppose direct contact between them.
  5.   8. Combination according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterised in that the first connection means of the elongate element (11) comprise a nut (28) for receiving a fixing screw (29) of the seat mounting means (16).
  9. Combination according to one or more of claims 1 to 8, characterised in that the first connection means of the elongate element (11) comprise a threaded extension (128) onto which the seat mounting means (16) can be screwed.
