Claims (12)

  1. Knife, with a blade-carrier (14) for holding a blade (15) with at least one primary knife part (11) and a secondary knife part (12) which is constructed so as to be movable relative to the primary knife part (11), wherein there are associated with said primary knife part (11) first coupling means (20, 36) which can be brought into engagement, in a releasable manner, with second coupling means (18, 38) associated with the secondary knife part (12) in order to move the blade-carrier (14), by a relative movement of the primary knife part (11) in relation to the secondary knife part (12), between a safety position, in which the blade (15) is retracted, in a manner inaccessible to the user, into a knife casing (11) formed by the primary knife part (11) and/or the secondary knife part (12), and an intermediate position in which the blade (15) protrudes from the knife casing (11), wherein the blade-carrier (14) is loaded into the safety position by a restoring force (21),
    characterised in that
    the blade-carrier (14) is mounted so as to be pivotable about a fixedly arranged pivot (a2) between the safety position, the intermediate position and a cutting position; that the blade-carrier (14) can be pivoted out of the intermediate position and into the cutting position by the action of a cutting force (F) upon the blade (15); and that, in the cutting position, the first coupling means (20, 36) and the second coupling means (18, 38) are released from one another, so that the blade-carrier (14) can be pivoted into the safety position.
  2. Knife according to claim 1, characterised in that the first coupling means (20, 36) or the second coupling means are associated with the blade-carrier (14).
  3. Knife according to claim 1 or 2, characterised in that the first coupling means (36) or the second coupling means are formed by a structure (36) which is fixedly connected to one of the knife parts (11).
  4. Knife according to one of claims 1 to 3, characterised in that the first coupling means or the second coupling means (18, 38) are associated with actuating means (17, 35) for actuating the blade-carrier (14).
  5. Knife according to claim 4, characterised in that the actuating means (17, 35) are associated with a lever (12) with a fixed pivot (a1) with respect to the primary actuating means (11) or the secondary actuating means.
  6. Knife according to claim 4 or 5, characterised in that the actuating means (12, 35) form, at least in part, a linkage.
  7. Knife according to claim 6, characterised in that the linkage is formed by a guide bar linkage with at least one guide bar (11, 12, 14, 35, 38).
  8. Knife according to claim 7, characterised in that the first coupling means or the second coupling means (38) are associated with a guide bar (35).
  9. Knife according to claim 7 or 8, characterised in that the first coupling means or the second coupling means (38) are formed by a rigid element which is connected to a guide bar by means of a joint (a4).
  10. Knife according to one of claims 7 to 9, characterised in that the blade-carrier (14) is part of the guide bar linkage (11, 12, 14, 35, 38).
  11. Knife according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the first coupling means (20) and/or the second coupling means (18) are associated with at least one spring element (19).
  12. Knife according to claim 11, characterised in that the spring element (19) is elastically deformable against a restoring force when the movement from the safety position into the intermediate position occurs, and can be moved back into its starting position by the elastic restoring force after the release of the first coupling means (20) from the second coupling means (18).
