Definitions

  • the invention relates to an assembly comprising a ratchet clamping device and a band, as used on clothing or sports articles.
  • Such assemblies serve to reversibly tension elements such as shoe flaps, pieces of fabric, or the like.
  • Some snowboard bindings include one or more links for removably retaining a boot on a base of the binding.
  • a link generally comprises a strip, a cover, and a ratchet clamping device secured to the cover.
  • the length of the link is adjusted by moving the band relative to the hood using the device.
  • a lever of the device can shorten the link, the ratchet preventing elongation when the lever does not act.
  • the lengthening of the link, or its opening by separation of the band and the cover is obtained by acting on the pawl with a release button. This operation is an act desired by a user of the device, that is to say by a person who practices snowboarding and who wants to either reduce the tension of the link, or release a boot of a binding.
  • the band is provided with a toothing.
  • a drive end of the lever has one or more teeth provided to cooperate with the toothing of the band, in order to urge the latter in a direction of tightening or shortening of the link.
  • the pawl also cooperates with the toothing to oppose the elongation or the opening of the link.
  • one particular object of the invention is to reduce or even eliminate the wear of the toothing.
  • the invention also seeks to optimize the engagement of the drive end of the lever with the toothing of the band.
  • the invention also seeks to improve the progressive tightening of the link.
  • the invention wishes to improve the efficiency of the clamping.
  • the invention proposes an assembly comprising a clamping device and a band, the band extending in a longitudinal direction from an attachment end to a free end, the band comprising a toothing, the device comprising a base, a driving lever, and a pawl, the lever being articulated on the base, the lever comprising firstly a drive end of the strip in a first direction, and secondly a handling end , the pawl being hinged to the base, the pawl having a retention zone provided to oppose the displacement of the strip in a second direction opposite to the first direction, an elastic means permanently urging the retaining zone of the pawl towards the base.
  • the assembly according to the invention is characterized in that for at least one tooth of the toothing of the strip at least one straight line, tangent to the engagement face of the tooth and parallel to the strip, forms with the longitudinal direction of the band an angle less than 90 degrees, in that the driving end of the lever is shaped to cooperate with the toothing of the band, and in that the retaining area of the pawl is shaped to cooperate with the toothing Of the band.
  • the teeth of the toothing according to the invention for a band of width equal to that of a band according to the prior art, respectively have a longer active portion. In other words, this means that the active length of a tooth is greater than the width of the band. Consequently, the active surface of the tooth, which is that of the contact with the driving end of the lever, is larger than for a tooth of a band according to the prior art.
  • Another advantage is related to the shape of the teeth. Indeed, following longitudinally the band, it is observed that at least a portion of a given tooth is at the height, transversely, of a portion of a subsequent tooth. This brings a gradual transition from one tooth to the other of the clamping force exerted by the lever on the band. In other words the tightening is more progressive, and requires less effort on the part of the user.
  • the clamping device comprises a release button
  • the base has a first flange and a second flange connected by a bridge
  • the lever is articulated on the base between the flanges
  • the first direction of drive is substantially parallel to the flanges and the bridge
  • the pawl is articulated on the base between the flanges
  • the resilient means biases the retaining zone of the pawl towards the bridge
  • the release button is provided to remove the retaining zone of the ratchet relative to the bridge against the action of the elastic means.
  • the release button is provided to urge the retaining zone of the pawl against the action of the elastic means.
  • This arrangement corresponds to a widespread handling standard.
  • an assembly includes a snowboard binding 1 provided for holding a boot, not shown, on a board 3.
  • the attachment 1 has a plate 4, as well as a lateral edge 5 and a medial edge 6 connected to each other by a bow 7.
  • the plate 4 extends in a longitudinal direction L1 of the attachment between a front end 8 and a rear end 9.
  • a first link 11 and a second link 12 are provided to releasably retain the boot on the attachment 1. For convenience, only the first link 11 is described below.
  • the first link 11 comprises for example a cover 13, a strip 14, and a clamping device 15 of the strip.
  • the cover 13 which comprises for example one or more layers of flexible material, extends from an attachment end 20 to a free end 21. Naturally, the attachment end 20 is secured to the medial edge 6, for example by a joint.
  • the cover 3 may comprise several sections, structured to adjust the length.
  • the band 14 extends in a longitudinal direction L14, from an attachment end 25 to a free end 26.
  • the attachment end 25 is secured to the side edge 5, for example by an articulation.
  • the strip 14 here comprises a toothing 27, disposed on a core 28.
  • the toothing 27 and the core form a single piece, preferably made from a plastic material.
  • the toothing 27 comprises a series of teeth 29, arranged in a regular pitch.
  • Each tooth 29 has a gripping face 30 and an engagement face 31 provided to cooperate with the clamping device 15, as will be seen later.
  • the junction of the faces 30, 31 forms a summit ridge of the tooth 29.
  • the engagement face 30 is oriented perpendicular to the strip 14, to obtain a stable grip with other components of the clamping device 15.
  • the clamping device 15 is seen from the side on the figure 2 . It comprises a U-shaped base 33 designed to guide the strip 14.
  • the base 33 comprises a first flange 34 and a second flange 35 connected by a bridge 36.
  • the base 33 is secured to the cover 13 for example by means of an axle rivet 37, so that the device 15 is at the free end 21.
  • the clamping device 15 comprises a pawl 40 articulated along an axis 41 between the flanges 31, 32.
  • An elastic means not shown, such as a spring, constantly urges the pawl 40 so that a retaining zone 42 of the pawl is pushed towards the bridge 36.
  • the retaining zone 42 is represented in the form of a tooth.
  • a drive lever 43 comprises on the one hand a handling end 44, and on the other hand a drive end 45 provided with at least one tooth 46.
  • the drive lever 43 is articulated along an axis 47, between the flanges 34, 35.
  • An elastic means not shown, such as a spring, constantly urges the lever 43 so that the handling end 44 is pushed towards the bridge 36.
  • a release button 50 has a cam surface 51 provided to press a cam surface 52 of the pawl 40, and a handling end 53 provided to be operated by hand.
  • the release button 50 is articulated along an axis 54, between the flanges 34, 35. Note that the drive lever 43 and the release button 50 are articulated respectively along different axes 47, 54.
  • the respective axes 41, 47 and 54 of the pawl 40, the lever 43 and the button 50 are parallel to each other.
  • These axes 41, 47, 54 are oriented in a transverse direction W15 of the clamping device 15.
  • This direction W15 is parallel to the bridge 36, and merges with the transverse direction W14 of the strip 14, when the latter is introduced into the clamping device 15.
  • the transverse direction W 14 of the strip 14 is parallel to the strip, and perpendicular to the longitudinal direction L14.
  • the pawl 40 opposes an elongation of the link 11. This means that the end free 26 of the band 14 can move in a direction that goes from an inner edge 56 to an outer edge 57 of the base 30.
  • the drive lever 43 is actuated, using the end 44, so that the teeth 46 drive the band 14.
  • the free end 26 of the band 14 moves in a direction that goes from the outer edge 57 to the inner edge 56. This means that the link 11 becomes shorter. The tightening of the boot becomes stronger.
  • the drive lever 43 is not loaded, its handling end 44 occupying the position closest to the bridge 36.
  • the user acts, for example with a finger, on the handling end 53 of the button release 50.
  • the cam surface 51 of the button 50 presses on the cam surface 52 of the pawl 40, so that the retaining zone 42 of the pawl 40 moves away from the bridge 36 and the web 14.
  • the link 11 can lengthen, because the pawl 40 no longer retains the band 14.
  • One advantage, induced by the structure of the clamping device 15, is that the manual action on the release button 50 tends to lengthen and open the link 11.
  • the drive end 45 of the lever 43 is shaped to cooperate with the toothing 27 of the band 14, and the retaining area 42 of the pawl 40 is shaped to cooperate with the toothing 27 of Band 14.
  • At least one tooth 29 at least a portion of the engagement face 30 is not perpendicular to the longitudinal direction L14.
  • the clamping device 15 and the band 14 of the invention provide an increased gripping surface between the driving lever 43 and the band, or between the pawl 40 and the strip.
  • the comparison is of course with similar size, that is to say for clamping devices and for bands of similar sizes. As a result, the contact pressure exerted on each tooth is reduced, whether on the belt, on the drive lever, or on the pawl.
  • the resulting benefits include reduced or insignificant tooth wear. By corollary the tops of teeth, especially when tightening the link, are rare or even nonexistent.
  • the arrangement according to the invention increases the progressivity of clamping. Again, it will be appreciated later, the friction between the band and the clamping device are reduced. This improves the clamping performance.
  • At least one line d3, d4 tangent to the engagement face 60 of the tooth 46 of the lever and parallel to the band 14, forms with the longitudinal direction L14 of the band an angle ⁇ 3, ⁇ 4 less than 90 degrees.
  • At least one line d5, d6, tangent to the engagement face 70 of the tooth 42 of the pawl and parallel to the blade 14 forms with the longitudinal direction L14 of the band an angle ⁇ 5, ⁇ 6 less than 90 degrees.
  • Diagrams according to Figures 7 and 8 gather references relating to the band 14, the pawl 40 and the lever 43. It appears that the teeth 29, 42, 46, respectively of the band 14, the pawl 40 and the lever 43 are, for their shapes, identical or similar . It is in particular provided that the teeth 42, 46 of the pawl 40 and the lever 43 each have a shape similar to that of a tooth 29 of the strip. This allows a reliable engagement of the pawl and / or the lever with the band.
  • each tooth 29, 42, 46 of the band 14, the pawl 40 or the lever 43 has the general shape of a Vee.
  • the general shape of a tooth is that of a chevron. Thanks to this shape, the band 14 scrapes little, if any, the flanges 34, 35 of the device 15 during the tightening of the link 11. This means that the V-shape allows a centering of the strip 14 between the flanges 34 It advantageously follows that the clamping efficiency is better.
  • tooth 29 of the band 14 which is described in more detail below. It is understood, however, that what is explained for the tooth 29 of the band 14 applies to a tooth 42 of the pawl 40 or to a tooth 46 of the lever 43.
  • the engagement face 30 of the tooth 29 comprises a first facet 81 and a second facet 82.
  • Each facet 81, 83 is a straight portion of the engagement face 30.
  • the junction of the facets 81, 82 forms the tip of the vee.
  • the gripping face 30 is perpendicular to the strip 14
  • the facets 81, 82 are perpendicular to the strip. This improves the transmission of the clamping forces from the lever 43, as well as the retention of the band 14 by the catch 40.
  • the engagement face 31 is inclined, in the sense that, in the longitudinal direction L14, it 31 forms with the soul 28 an angle whose value is between 10 and 70 degrees. This is the engagement face of each tooth 29 which pushes the pawl 40 during the tightening of the link 11.
  • each tooth 29 is symmetrical transversely. This is why each tooth 29 is symmetrical transversely with respect to a central longitudinal axis, designated by the reference L14, of the strip 14.
  • L14 central longitudinal axis
  • the junction of the facets 81, 82 is halfway between a first transverse edge 83 and a second transverse edge 84 of the strip 14. This improves the clamping performance, as has been seen, but also provides greater uniformity of tightening. In fact the band 14 runs more regularly in the clamping device 15 during the action of the drive lever 43.
  • the tightening of the link 11 is therefore summarized by the regular succession of teeth taken from the band and the lever.
  • each tooth 29 of the strip 14 extends over the entire width thereof, that is to say from the first transverse edge 83 to the second 84.
  • the angle of the Vee of a tooth 29 of the band 14 is between 60 and 170 °.
  • angle values in the range of 120 to 140 ° are very suitable.
  • the angles ⁇ 1, ⁇ 2 are between 30 and 85 °.
  • the toothing 27 is symmetrical transversely, the angles ⁇ 1, ⁇ 2 have the same value.
  • each tooth 42, 46 of the pawl 40 or the lever 43 is between 60 and 170 °.
  • each tooth 42, 46 of the pawl or lever extends over the entire width respectively of the pawl or the lever.
  • each tooth 42, 46 of the pawl or the lever is symmetrical transversely, that is to say respectively with respect to a central axis perpendicular to its hinge axis 41, 47.
  • a link 11 including a cover 13, a strip 14 and a clamping device 15.
  • the latter also comprises a pawl 40, a lever 43, and a release button 50.
  • the third form is distinguished from others by the shape of the teeth 29 of the band 14.
  • the shape of the teeth of the pawl and the lever is similar to that of the band.
  • each tooth 29, 42, 46 of the band 14, the pawl 40 or the lever 43 has, in particular at the engagement face 30, the general shape of a curve.
  • it is a portion of a circle, a parabola portion, or other.
  • a curved shape gives continuity to each tooth, especially to the gripping face 30.
