Offenend-Spinnmaschinen weisen bekanntlich eine Vielzahl identischer, nebeneinander angeordneter Arbeitsstellen auf, die jeweils über eine Spinnvorrichtung zur Fertigung eines Fadens sowie über eine Spulvorrichtung zur Herstellung einer Kreuzspule verfügen.
Die Arbeitsstellen derartiger Offenend-Spinnmaschinen werden in der Regel durch selbsttätig arbeitende Serviceaggregate versorgt, die eingreifen, wenn an einer der Arbeitsstellen ein Bedienfall auftritt.
Ein solcher Bedienfall liegt beispielsweise vor bei einem Fadenbruch oder wenn an einer der Arbeitsstellen die Kreuzspule ihren vorgeschriebenen Durchmesser erreicht hat und gegen eine neue Leerhülse ausgetauscht werden muss.
Das heißt, derartige, beispielsweise in der DE 44 43 818 A1 beschriebene Serviceaggregate können nicht nur "normale" Fadenbrüche beheben, sondern führen auch selbsttätig Kreuzspulen-/Leerhülsenwechsel durch.
Im Falle eines Kreuzspulen-/Leerhülsenwechsels wird die volle Kreuzspule aus dem Spulenrahmen der betreffenden Arbeitsstelle genommen und auf eine spinnmaschineneigene Transporteinrichtung überführt.
Anschließend wird eine neue Leerhülse in den Spulenrahmen der Arbeitsstelle eingelegt, die Offenend-Spinnvorrichtung mittels eines sogenannten Hilfsfadens neu angesponnen und der neue Faden an der vorher in den Spulenrahmen eingewechselten Leerhülse festgelegt.
