Description

US 2003/0234196 A1 ).The present invention relates to a case for a series of tools, consisting of open-end wrenches or wrenches, each tool comprising at least one working head and a flat-shaped handle, the case being of the type described in the preamble of claim 1 ( US 2003/0234196 A1 ).

Hand tools are generally marketed as a series of tools arranged on a rack, which rack is used later, in maintenance shops, to store the series of tools and to check the presence of all the tools of the series on the rack. .

It is known from the patent US 2003/0234196 A1 , making such a key rack from two separate rack members, each member comprising a base from which slots extend to hold the tool handles flat. The rack elements are hinged together so that the elements are superimposed in the storage position and transport. It is also known from the patent US-B2-6,896,136 , making such a key rack from two separate rack members, each member comprising a base from which slots extend to hold the tool handles flat. The rack elements are hinged together so that the elements are superimposed in the storage position and transport. However, such a design does not allow compact storage of the series of tools in a user's pocket, does not give easy access to tools, and does not benefit from a low manufacturing cost.

The invention aims to optimize the compactness of a case for a series of tools while improving accessibility to the tool set and benefiting from a low cost.

For this purpose, the subject of the invention is a case for a series of tools of the aforementioned type, characterized by the characterizing part of claim 1.

Thus, the invention ensures a minimum size of the tool series and allows easy access to the tools.

Other embodiments are described in claims 2 to 11.

The invention also relates to a tooling composition comprising a series of tools arranged in a case as defined above.

The Figures 1 to 8 illustrate a support 10 for a series of tools 12 ( Figure 3 ), in particular for open-end wrenches, each tool comprising at least one working head 13 and 14 and a handle 16, the head 13 comprising a female internal cavity 15 of open-fork profile type and the head 14 being of the type with a closed profile in the eye in the example shown in FIG. Figure 3 .

The support 10 comprises a first support 17 and a second support 18. The first support 17 is a large support adapted to receive a series of large tools. The second support 18 is a small support adapted to receive a series of small tools. A hinge 19 articulates the supports 17 and 18 to each other between a first storage and transport position and a second access position to the tools ( Figures 2 , 3 , and 6 to 8 ).

Each of the two supports 17 and 18 is a separate piece molded in one piece by thermoplastic injection of a thermoplastic elastomer material, which is for example a thermoplastic elastomer with a hardness of between 50 shore D and 90 shore D.

The first support 17 comprises a base 20 of substantially flat overall shape and trapezoidal shape.

A plurality of housings 22, in the example shown in number of four, extend parallel to each other from the base 20, each housing being intended to receive and retain the handle 16 of a corresponding tool of the series in position. determined in the support 10.

A plurality of means for receiving and retaining 32 tool head 13 extends substantially perpendicularly to the housing 22, each receiving and retaining means 32 being associated with a housing 22 and for receiving and retaining the working head 13 of the corresponding tool 12 in a determined position in the support 10.

The housings 22 and the reception and retention means 32 are integral with the base 20.

The intermediate seats 22 comprise solid partitions 24 substantially parallel to each other, delimiting a channel 22. The outer walls of the two end housings respectively form an outer side wall 26, 28.

La paroi 28 est ainsi de dimension longitudinale inférieure à celle de la paroi 26.The side walls 26 and 28 connect the base 20 to the receiving and retaining means 32 and are arranged at the bases of the trapezoidal shape. The wall 28 is thus of longitudinal dimension smaller than that of the wall 26.

The partitions 24 and the two side walls 26 and 28 are integral with the base 20, project substantially perpendicular to this base, on the same face thereof, and each comprise a positioning means 30 of the handle 16 This means 30 is formed by a boss 30, integral with the partition 24 and / or the side wall 26 or 28 which carries it, and arranged in transverse projection in the channel 22.

Chaque tronçon 34 est espacé de la base 20 et retient transversalement la fourche 13 par rapport au barreau 32.The receiving and retaining means 32 of the tool heads are also integrally formed with the base 20 and comprise a hollow, generally conical, pitch bar 32 extending substantially perpendicularly to the longitudinal direction of the channels 22. A section 34, of dimension complementary to that of the female internal cavity 15 of a tool head 13 of the series of tools, defines a stage of the bar 32. Each section 34 is spaced from the base 20 and retains transversely the fork 13 with respect to the bar 32.

One stage of the bar 32 is respectively disposed substantially in the same plane as the associated housing 22 of the corresponding tool handle 12, and the bar 32 has progressively increasing sections from one section 34 to the next.

Chaque marquage 37 indique la dimension d'ouverture du profil intérieur femelle 15 de la tête 13 de l'outil 12.A tongue 36 projecting extends the stepped bar 32 in the longitudinal direction of the channels 22. A marking 37, integral with the tongue 36, is arranged vis-à-vis each section 34 of the stepped bar 32. Each marking 37 indicates the opening dimension of the female inner profile 15 of the head 13 of the tool 12.

The base 20 further comprises a tapered end 38 ( Figure 2 ) turned towards the bar 32 and spaced therefrom by a receiving space 39 of the tool head 13, as will be described later.

Le barreau creux 32 débouche respectivement dans chacune des parois latérales 26 et 28 au niveau d'orifices respectifs 40 et 42 (Figures 4 et 8).The hollow bar 32 opens respectively into each of the side walls 26 and 28 at respective orifices 40 and 42 ( Figures 4 and 8 ).

A metal clip 44 ( Figure 4 ), positioned on the rear face of the base 20 is reported and fixed by a fastener (not shown), itself screwed into a blind hole (not shown). The clip 44 allows to hang the case on the belt of a user.

A light 48 is provided in the extension of one of the partitions 24, and is dimensioned such that a pin of a sales display can pass right through the base 20. Thus, the case 10 participates in the packaging of the series of tools.

As shown more particularly on Figures 2 , 4 and 5 , lights 50 made in the base 20 opposite the positioning bosses 30 projecting transversely in the channels 22, allow, during the thermoplastic injection, the passage of pins for molding a portion of each boss 30.

The Figure 5 illustrates an enlarged scale section relative to the area of the bosses 30. It represents an end channel 22 in which is inserted a tool handle 16. A first boss 30 projects transversely in the channel 22 from the side wall 26. A second boss 30 projects into the channel 22 from the partition 24. Two surfaces 52 and 54 laterally delimit the channel 22, the base 20 delimiting the bottom surface 56 of the channel 22. The surfaces 52 and 54 are lightly stripped to allow demolding during thermoplastic injection.

In the extension of the light 50, two surfaces 58 and 60 which are substantially planar and in the form of flanks inverted with respect to the surfaces 52 and 54 extend respectively beyond half the height of the lateral wall 26 and the partition 24. in the direction of the free end of these same side wall and partition. An inclined surface 62 extends respectively each of the surfaces 58 and 60, the surfaces 62 converging towards the center of the channel. Two flat and parallel surfaces 64 extend in the longitudinal axis of the channel 22 respectively each of the inclined surfaces 62 towards the free end of the wall 26 and the partition 24. Still towards the free end of the side wall 26 and the partition 24, an inclined surface 66 respectively extends each of the flat surfaces 64, the surfaces 66 diverging from the center of the channel in the direction of the free end of the side wall 26 and the partition 24.

The surfaces 62, 64 and 66 respectively form retaining surfaces, connection and entry bosses 30. The distance between the connecting surfaces 64 is smaller than the smallest dimension of the section of the handle 16, so that the retaining surfaces 62 are adapted to retain the handle of the tool.

With reference to the Figure 4 , the positioning of a wrench 12 will now be described. In this figure is represented, in phantom, a first step of positioning a wrench 12 on the tool support 10. The fork 13 of the tool 12 is shown on the section 34 corresponding to the dimension of opening of the female internal profile 15 of the tool 12, so that the fork 13 overlaps the associated section 34.

Un des mors de la fourche 13 est introduit dans l'espace de réception 39 séparant la base 20 du barreau 32, le profil intérieur 15 s'adaptant sur le tronçon 34 de dimension complémentaire du barreau 32.One of the jaws of the fork 13 is introduced into the receiving space 39 separating the base 20 of the bar 32, the inner profile 15 fitting on the section 34 of complementary dimension of the bar 32.

The handle 16 then forms an angle with the longitudinal direction of the channel 22 of the support 10. The section of the section 34 being substantially circular, the key 12 is then able to rotate about a center of rotation defined by the center of the section of the portion 34 overlapped by the fork 13. In a rotational movement tending to bring the handle 16 of the channel 22 (arrow F of the Figure 4 ), the operator engages the handle 16 in the latter and comes into contact with the handle 16 with the inclined input surfaces 66 of the boss 30. Under the effect of the advance of the handle 16 and by elasticity effect of the partition 24 and / or the wall 26, the input surfaces 66 move away from each other, driving with them the connecting surfaces 64, on which the handle 16 slides. Indeed, the partitions 24 and the side walls 26 and 28 are adapted to flex elastically and transversely to allow the handle 16 to cross the positioning bosses 30 of the handle.

After crossing the connecting surfaces 64 of the bosses 30, the handle 16 abuts the bottom 56 of the channel 22 and the retaining surfaces 62 hold with a game the handle 16 in the housing 22 associated.

As a result, the partition 24 and the side wall 26 flex resiliently from their unstressed initial position and return, once the positioning bosses 30 have been passed through the handle 16, to their initial position, even if the adjacent dwellings are occupied. by other tools. Thus, the partition 24 and the side wall 26 are subjected to bending stresses only when crossing the positioning boss 30 by the handle 16, which improves the resistance over time of the plastic material. As a result, the handle 16 is retained in its housing with a slight clearance in both directions of its section

Thus, the head 13 is held transversely by the bar 32 and longitudinally by the stop 38, the latter effectively opposing the movement in longitudinal translation of the tool 12 relative to the channel 22.

La paroi latérale extérieure 28 du premier support 17, située du côté du plus petit des grands outils, est prolongée, perpendiculairement à la base 20 et latéralement vers l'extérieur, par un charnon supérieur 70 et un charnon inférieur 71 traversés par des alésages verticaux coaxiaux 72 (Figure 8).The outer side wall 28 of the first support 17, situated on the side of the smallest of the large tools, is extended, perpendicular to the base 20 and laterally outwards, by an upper knuckle 70 and a lower knuckle 71 traversed by vertical bores. coaxial 72 ( Figure 8 ).

The second support 18 is structured similarly to the first support 17. In the following description, the elements of the structure of the second support 18 which have the same function as those described above for the structure of the first support 17 retain the reference numerals increased by 100.

The second support 18 nevertheless differs from the first support 17 in that the number of housings is, in the example shown, equal to five. It also differs in that the outer lateral wall 128 of the second support 18, situated on the side of the larger of the small tools, is extended, perpendicularly to the base 120 and laterally outwards, by an upper knuckle 170 and a lower knuckle. 171, the upper knuckle 170 of the second support 18 having a blind bore (not shown) open downwardly.

To assemble the case, as seen on the Figures 2 and 8 , the two supports 17 and 18 are presented approximately in alignment with one another, they are brought together to fit the knuckles 70, 71, 170 and 171, and a metal insert pin 74 is inserted through the bores and, in force, in the blind bore of the upper knuckle 170 of the second support 18.

  1. (1) une première position, dite de rangement et de transport (Figures 1, 6, 8 et 9), dans laquelle l'étui est replié autour du tourillon 74, les bases 20 et 120 étant disposées extérieurement et en opposition l'une de l'autre, et les canaux respectifs 24 et 124 des logements 22 et 122 des premier et deuxième supports 17 et 18 étant superposés en regard les uns des autres ;
The supports of the case 10 can then open and close in the manner of a wallet, to take two main positions:
  1. (1) a first position, said storage and transport (Figures 1, 6, 8 and 9), wherein the case is folded around the pin 74, the bases 20 and 120 being arranged externally and in opposition one of on the other, and the respective channels 24 and 124 of the housings 22 and 122 of the first and second supports 17 and 18 being superimposed opposite one another;
  2. (2) a second position, called access to the tools ( Figures 2 , 3 and 7 ), wherein the first and second supports are open flat portfolio, the bases 20 and 120 being disposed substantially in the same plane and the respective channels 24 and 124 of the housing 22 and 122 of the first and second supports 17 and 18 being side side by side all parallel to each other.

In the first position, the tools of the series are arranged, the sleeves being arranged substantially vertically in their respective channels, in two half series of tools of four and five tools, superimposed in two substantially parallel planes, which increases the compactness of the case according to the invention compared to a conventional rack.

In the second position, the tools of the series are arranged, the sleeves always being arranged substantially vertically in their respective channels, in a single series of tools of nine tools, aligned substantially in a single plane, in particular in descending order of size tool for each support, which improves access to all the tools of the case compared to a conventional rack.

As we see on the Figure 3 , the free ends 14 of the two sets of tools substantially define, for each support, an inclined line L1, L2. These two lines are offset relative to each other in the longitudinal direction of the tools. Given the storage in descending order of tool size in the second tool access position, the largest tool of one of the supports is, in the closed position of the case corresponding to the first position storage and transport ( Figure 6 ), facing the smaller tool on the other supports, their free ends 14 being offset in the longitudinal direction of the tools. This makes it possible to increase the compactness of the assembly in the closed position of the case.

As represented in Figure 6 , the case 10 further comprises a locking device 80 supports 17 and 18 on top of each other in their first storage position and transport. Locking is done by clipping.

Un bossage 82, venu de matière avec la paroi latérale extérieure 26 du premier support 17 opposée à l'articulation 19, est agencé en saillie intérieure sur la paroi latérale 26, c'est à dire du côté des canaux 24 des logements 22.A boss 82, integral with the outer side wall 26 of the first support 17 opposite the articulation 19, is arranged in internal projection on the side wall 26, that is to say on the side of the channels 24 of the housings 22.

The boss 82 and the recess 84 cooperate due to the elasticity of the injection material of the supports 17 and 18.

En effet, lorsque le deuxième support 18 passe de la deuxième position à plat à la première position repliée (Figure 7), la paroi latérale 126 du deuxième support 18 se positionne en décalage par rapport à la paroi latérale 26 du premier support 17 de telle manière que la face externe de la paroi latérale 126 soit positionnée du côté intérieur de la paroi latérale 26 du premier support 17.Indeed, when the second support 18 moves from the second flat position to the first folded position ( Figure 7 ), the side wall 126 of the second support 18 is positioned offset from the side wall 26 of the first support 17 so that the outer face of the side wall 126 is positioned on the inside of the side wall 26 of the first support 17.

The free end 190 of the side wall 126 comes into contact with the boss 82, and, by elasticity of the material, the side wall 26 of the first support 17 flexes slightly to allow the free end 190 to overcome the boss 82 and allow it is thus locked in the storage and transport position, the supports 17 and 18 being in position. abutment on one another by means of two flat portions 86 and 88 respectively arranged on the partitions 24 and 124 of the respective supports 17 and 18, the partitions 24 and 124 being those which are furthest from the articulation 19.

To open the case 10, the user has a local protuberance 90 in the form of tongue, arranged outwardly external projection from the outer side wall 126 of the second support 18 and substantially in the extension of the base 120 of the second support 18.

It should be noted that in the first storage position as shown on the Figures 6 and 8 , the respective outer lateral walls 28 and 128 of the first and second supports 17 and 18, arranged on the side of the articulation 19, overlap ( Figure 6 ) and interlock ( Figure 7 ) advantageously. Only the hinge 19 of rounded shape is in lateral projection in the middle part of the reconstituted outer wall of the hinge 19, which does not interfere with the ergonomics of grip of the holster.

The user, wishing to open the folded case, grasps the first support 17 in the palm of his first hand. This is facilitated by the width of the first support adapted to the palm of the user. The latter grasps the second support 18 between the thumb and the other fingers of his second hand. It then acts on the protuberance 90 in the form of tongue so as to apply a force tending to separate the second support 18 of the first support 17 by rotation about the pin 74. The handling of the case is easy both at the opening and at closing.

A second embodiment, shown at Figure 9 , differs from that shown in Figures 1 to 8 in that the case 210 comprises first and second supports 217 and 218 made of material by thermoplastic injection, and connected by a hinge 219 also integral. The holster 210 does not require assembly of the hinge as in the embodiment described above, and thus has a lower installation cost.

Made of thermoplastic material, the case according to the invention has rounded shapes and therefore not aggressive for an operator. Thus, the case according to the invention has an improved ergonomic feature.

In addition, the design of the holster in small dimensions that can open and close in the manner of a portfolio, improves compactness, while ensuring a low manufacturing cost.
