Definitions
- the present invention relates to a fluid dispenser member generally intended to be associated with a fluid reservoir to form together a fluid dispenser. It is a dispensing member whose actuation is usually performed manually using a finger of the user.
- the fluid product is distributed in the form of a jet of fine sprayed droplets, a continuous net or a dab of fluid, particularly in the case of viscous product, such as cosmetic creams.
- Such a fluid dispenser member may in particular be used in the fields of perfumery, cosmetics or even pharmacy to dispense more or less viscous products.
- the present invention is more particularly, but not exclusively, concerned with a type of dispensing member which is commonly referred to as a "push-pump".
- a type of dispensing member which is commonly referred to as a "push-pump".
- the dispensing member comprises a pusher forming not only a dispensing orifice but also defining a portion of a fluid product chamber in which fluid is selectively pressurized.
- a pump it is a pump chamber.
- a peculiarity of this pusher pump lies in the fact that an inner surface of the pusher, of generally cylindrical general shape, serves as a sealed sliding shaft for a piston which moves in sealed contact in this barrel to thereby open and close a valve Release.
- This piston is generally a piston of the differential type that moves in response to a pressure variation of the fluid within the chamber.
- Such a fluid dispenser member of the push-pump type is in particular known from WO 2005/084820.
- This dispensing member is especially adapted to low-viscosity fluid products such as perfumes for which a distribution in spray form is desired.
- the dispenser of this document is not at all suitable for the distribution of viscous products such as creams or gels which are generally distributed in the form of fillets or hazelnuts.
- the piston, of the differential type comprises a first valve lip sealingly slid into a barrel formed by the pusher and a second lip engaged in another said main barrel formed by the body of the dispensing member.
- the lip in sliding contact in the pusher may be referred to as a differential lip or outlet valve, while the lip slidably sealed in the main body barrel may be referred to as the main lip.
- the pusher comprises a dispensing orifice upstream of which is formed a swirl system made in the form of tangential channels connecting to a central swirl chamber centered on the dispensing orifice.
- the outlet valve is not formed directly by the valve lip, but by a small ring formed in the extension of the valve lip and which is intended to come into sealing contact against an outlet valve seat. frustoconical shape.
- the aforementioned document is particularly suitable for perfume distribution.
- viscous products such as creams, pastes or gels
- the fluid product downstream of the outlet valve communicates with the outside through the dispensing orifice. This is particularly the case of the fluid product stored at the swirl system, namely in the tangential channels and in the central chamber. This is not acceptable for a fluid dispenser member such as creams, pastes or gels.
- the present invention aims to overcome the aforementioned drawbacks of the prior art by defining a fluid dispensing member paste (creams, pastes, gels) having the same overall architecture (differential piston) without suffering deterioration problems fluid product at the dispensing orifice.
- the present invention proposes a fluid dispenser member comprising a distribution wall defining an outer surface and an inner surface, said wall being traversed by a dispensing orifice connecting the inner surface to the outer surface, the surface internal forming a sealed sliding shaft for a piston adapted to move along an axis X in sealed contact in said barrel, from a rest position, to open an outlet valve, said piston forming part of a chamber of fluid product in which fluid is selectively pressurized, and discharged through this outlet valve open to the dispensing orifice, characterized in that the piston forms a closure wall adapted to close the dispensing orifice in the rest position.
- the closure wall is positioned, in the rest position, in front of the dispensing orifice on the side of the inner surface.
- the closure wall comes into sealing contact with the inner surface in the rest position.
- the piston comes directly into sealing contact with the peripheral edge of the dispensing orifice at the inner surface.
- the internal surface, at the level of the dispensing orifice is inclined relative to the axis of displacement X of the piston.
- the closing wall of the piston can be inclined substantially corresponding to the inner surface so as to create a cone cone contact.
- the closure wall can come into perfectly tight contact with the internal surface where the orifice of distribution without any risk of jamming.
- the sealing contact is not made cylinder against cylinder, but cone on cone.
- the external surface, at the level of the dispensing orifice is inclined with respect to the axis X. This makes it possible to slightly orient the dispensing orifice upwards by conferring a overall aesthetic appearance at the pusher.
- this reduces the wall thickness of the distribution wall at the dispensing orifice.
- this wall reduction can be achieved by other means. By thus reducing the wall thickness, it also reduces the depth of the dispensing orifice, and thus the amount of fluid stored at the orifice.
- the piston forms a movable outlet valve member for sealing engagement with an outlet valve seat.
- a fluid product passage is defined between the open outlet valve and the dispensing orifice, this passage being substantially filled by the piston in the rest position, so as to reduce the dead volume.
- the piston is a differential piston that moves in response to a pressure change in the fluid chamber.
- the distribution wall is formed by a pusher so that the piston slides in the pusher, the outlet valve comprising a seat formed by the pusher.
- the pusher may comprise a bearing wall and a substantially cylindrical peripheral skirt, the distribution wall being formed by the skirt, the skirt comprising a lower end engaged in an axial guide sleeve, which advantageously serves support for a protective cover.
- An interesting principle of the invention is to use the piston of a pusher pump as internal sealing member of the dispensing orifice to prevent any risk of deterioration of the fluid.
- the piston thus fulfills several functions, namely the main piston, the valve piston, the movable valve member and the shutter member of the dispensing orifice.
- FIG. 1 is a vertical cross-sectional view through a fluid dispenser member according to the invention mounted on a reservoir, and
- FIGS. 2a and 2b are greatly enlarged views of a detail of Figure 1, respectively in the rest position and distribution position.
- FIG. 1 to explain in detail the general structure of a fluid dispenser member of the invention associated with a reservoir 6 so as to together form a fluid dispenser.
- the dispensing member illustrated and described is more particularly suitable for dispensing pasty products such as cosmetic creams or gels.
- the reservoir 6 which is only partially represented, comprises an opening formed here by a neck 61.
- the reservoir 6 may be of constant capacity, but preferably it is of variable capacity so that its useful volume decreases as the product fluid is extracted by the fluid dispenser member of the invention.
- the reservoir 6 may comprise a follower or scraper piston which moves in the reservoir in response to a depression. In other words, the follower piston rises during the suction phases of the dispenser member.
- the dispensing member in this non-limiting embodiment of the invention comprises four constituent elements, namely a base body 1, a pusher 2, a piston 3 and a return spring and precompression 4.
- the dispenser member may be provided with a protective cover 5 which caps the pusher to protect it and prevent its inadvertent or inadvertent operation.
- the dispenser shown in the figures is a pump and this term will be used to describe it in the following description.
- the base body 1 is a part of revolution that can be made by injection of appropriate plastic material.
- the body 1 has a substantially cylindrical and concentric overall structure. From the outside, the body 1 forms a fixing ring 11 which engages around the neck 61 of the reservoir 6. In the extension of this ring 11 extends upwardly a sleeve 12 which serves to guide the 2. Inside the ring 11 concentrically extends a self-sealing lip 13 which comes into sealing contact inside the neck 61 of the reservoir 6. Inside the lip 13 is formed a crown 15 comprising a plurality of radial ribs arranged in the form of a star.
- the ring forms a frustoconical hollow interior which advantageously corresponds to the shape of the upper part of the follower piston (not shown).
- the ring 15 forms an inlet which makes the interior of the tank 6 communicate with the interior of the pump.
- the inlet is defined in particular by an inlet pipe 17 which extends upwards from the ring 15.
- This inlet pipe 17 also serves as an inlet valve seat in cooperation with the piston 3.
- a outside and concentrically to the tubing 17 extends a main shaft 16 which also cooperates with the piston 3, as will be seen below.
- Around the barrel 16 also extends a sleeve
- a housing is thus defined between the shaft 16 and the sleeve 14 which will serve to receive the lower end of the return spring and precompression 4.
- a housing is defined between the sleeve 12 and the sleeve 14 in which is received the lower end 26 of the pusher 2 to guide axially.
- the upper end of the bushing 12 can also be formed with an internal groove for snap-in receiving of the protective cover 5.
- the pusher 2 comprises a bearing surface or plate 21 and a substantially cylindrical peripheral skirt 22 which extends downwards from the outer periphery of the plate 21.
- the plate 21 has a certain elasticity so that it is slightly deformable when sufficient pressure is exerted on it.
- the pusher 2 cooperates with the base body 1 by engagement of the lower end 26 of the skirt 22 inside the guide sleeve 12.
- the sleeve 12 and the lower end 26 form stop means. This rest position, shown in Figure 1, is reached under the action of the return spring 4 when no pressure is exerted on the support plate 21.
- the plate 21 forms a valve seat 25, which is here in the form of an annular flange which projects downwards from the lower wall of the plate 21.
- the skirt 22 forms a distribution wall 23 which is traversed by a dispensing orifice 24.
- the distribution wall 23 has an outer surface 231 which is slightly inclined relative to the axis of symmetry. We can even notice that the outer surface is slightly curved.
- the distribution wall 23 comprises an inner surface 232 defining an upper part 234 inclined with respect to the axis X and a lower part 233 which is substantially cylindrical and which serves as a sliding shaft for the piston 3.
- the dispensing orifice 24 is formed at a place where the distribution wall has a reduced thickness.
- the depth of the dispensing orifice from the inner surface to the outer surface is very small, thereby defining a very small inscribed volume.
- the seat 25 of the outlet valve is located in the direct proximity of the dispensing orifice 24: in fact, they are separated only by an annular space defined between the seat 25 and the inner surface 232.
- the piston 3 is a differential type piston which moves along an axis X in response to a pressure variation within the pump chamber, which is hereby generally designated by the numeral 20.
- the piston 3 comprises a central axial trunk 31 which is traversed by a connecting conduit 312. At its lower end, the trunk 31 comprises a main lip 36 engaged in leaktight sliding in the main shaft 16 of the body 1.
- the trunk 31 defines a movable inlet valve member 37 for coming into selective sealing contact within the inlet manifold 17.
- the movable member 37 is here in the form of a small tube axially movable out and in contact with the tubing 17.
- the trunk 31 defines a stud 311 which is located just below the support plate 21.
- the piston 2 comprises an annular radial flange 32 under which the return spring and precompression 4 is supported.
- the spring concentrically surrounds the trunk 31 of the piston 3.
- its lower end is housed between the barrel 16 and the sleeve 14 of the body 1.
- the annular flange 32 is connected on its outer periphery to a ring which fulfills here a triple function.
- the ring forms a valve lip or differential lip 33 in sliding contact in the barrel formed by the lower part 233 of the inner surface 232 of the distribution wall 23.
- the ring forms an organ mobile 35 for the outlet valve: this movable member 35, of annular shape, is intended to come into selective sealing contact with the seat 25 formed by the plate 21.
- the ring forms a closure wall 34 which is positioned in front of the dispensing orifice 24 on the side of the inner surface of the distribution wall 23. This is the case when the pump is in the rest position as shown in Figures 1 and 2a.
- the closure wall 34 comes into sealing contact with the inner surface 232 all around the dispensing orifice 24. As can be seen in FIG.
- the upper portion 234 of the inner surface 232 has an inclined or frustoconical configuration and the closure wall 34 has a similar inclined or frustoconical configuration so as to create an intimate sealing contact around the orifice. This feature avoids any jamming of the piston 3 inside the pusher 2 since the sealing contacts are cone on cone and not cylinder against cylinder.
