The device as defined in claim 2, characterized in that said bearing (111) is, in the region of a flat end face (103) or a lateral surface (104) of said container (101), flush with the top edges of the parallel side walls (112, 113) and extends in a curved form in the region of an edge (105) of a container (101) between the parallel side walls (112, 113) of a retaining structure (110).
  4. The device as defined in any one of the previous claims, characterized in that a retaining structure (110) is, in the region of its container-side undersurface, formed following the contour of a surface of said container (101).
  5. The device as defined in any one of the previous claims, characterized in that said retaining structure (110) has, in the region of its container-side undersurface, a plurality of lugs (114) directed toward a container surface and following the contour of said surface.
  6. The device as defined in claim 5, characterized in that said lug (114) is provided with at least one recess (107) adapted to accommodate a projection (106) for the purpose of affixing a retaining structure (110) to a container (101), said projection (106) being formed in the region of the surface of said container (101).
  7. The device as defined in any one of the previous claims, characterized in that the cooperation of said auxiliary retainer (130) with said retaining structure (110) fixes the starting point of said strapping band (120) in the region of an edge (105) of said container (101).
  8. The device as defined in any one of the previous claims, characterized in that a plurality of containers (101) is combined to form a block by means of one or more strapping bands (120).
  9. The device as defined in any one of the previous claims, characterized in that said retaining structure (110) contains two side walls (112, 113) made of corrugated board (115), wherein between said side walls (112; 113) there is provided a honeycomb layer (116) made of corrugated cardboard (115).
  10. The device as defined in claim 9, characterized in that said honeycomb layer (116) is made of single-mode corrugated cardboard (115).
  11. The device as defined in claim 9, characterized in that said honeycomb layer (116) is made of multi-mode corrugated cardboard (115).
  12. The device as defined in any one of claims 9 to 11, characterized in that the longitudinal direction of the wave troughs of said corrugated cardboard (115) of the honeycomb layer (116) is at right angles to the longitudinal direction of the wave troughs of said corrugated cardboard (115) pertaining to said side walls (112; 113).
  13. The device as defined in any one of claims 9 to 12, characterized in that said side wall (112; 113) is made of single-layer corrugated cardboard (115).
  14. The device as defined in any one of claims 9 to 12, characterized in that said side wall (112; 113) is made of double-ply corrugated cardboard (115).
  15. The device as defined in any one of claims 9 to 12, characterized in that said side wall (112; 113) is made of three-ply corrugated cardboard (115).
  16. The device as defined in any one of claims 9 to 15, characterized in that the external surfaces of said side walls (112; 113) are each provided with a water-proof coating.
