Es werden allerdings nicht nur solche Netzschutzrelais getestet, sondern generell auch Generatorschutzeinrichtungen oder auch Zähler. Derartige Mess-, Schutz- und Zähleinrichtungen, im Folgenden auch elektrische Einrichtungen genannt, sind mit der Hochspannungsleitung durch sogenannte Wandler oder auch Transformatoren verbunden.
