Description

Hintergrund der ErfindungBackground of the invention

The present invention relates to methods for producing a system, in particular a floor covering for outdoor applications, in which a plurality of strand-shaped, made by extrusion WPC material profile bodies, which are preferably formed as a profile hollow body, are arranged side by side.

In the so-called known WPC material (WPC is an abbreviation for " Wood Plastic Composites ") is a polymer material with wood fibers or a polymer material filled with wood fibers, the polymer material is usually based on polyolefins and PVC formed polymer material. WPC material is currently produced in large quantities, in many cases by extrusion from WPC material made of profile bodies, which are provided in particular as components for floor coverings, wherein for the production of a floor covering a plurality of these profile body to the floor covering be assembled.

Despite the advantageous properties of these profiles, particularly as components for floor coverings, WPC material has the disadvantage that it has a limited service life in a long-term use in humid environments, such that the WPC material of the profile softens and optionally decomposed due to decay processes.

It is known in profile hollow bodies specially prefabricated caps whose form is matched to the profile geometry to use for closing the open profile end faces. In addition to the penetration of moisture into the hollow chamber with concomitant formation of molds or biofilms, the covering caps should also largely avoid insect infestation which further intensifies the formation of molds or biofilms. However, these covers are not moisture-proof and therefore can not completely prevent the formation of mold or biofilms.

Furthermore, the caps must be specially adapted to the particular geometry of the profile hollow body or hollow chamber profiles. In particular, the caps can usually only be used if the corresponding cut surfaces of the profiles are straight or planar.

The US 2007/148429 A1 discloses WPC profiles provided with a coating. From the US 2003/154662 A1 is in connection with the laying of WPC profiles, the frontal connection of two adjacent profiles by an additional element known, which can be welded, for example, with the two profile bodies.

Zugrundeliegende AufgabeUnderlying task

The present invention is therefore based on the object of specifying a system having a plurality of strand-shaped profile bodies produced by extrusion from WPC material, which can also be used in a moist environment without causing the WPC material to soften or decompose.

According to the invention the object is achieved by a method for producing a system, in particular a floor covering for outdoor applications,
in which a plurality of strand-shaped profile bodies produced by extrusion from WPC material, which are preferably designed as profile hollow bodies, are arranged next to one another, and then
a band-shaped material, which is converted by heating at least partially in a molten state and is adapted to prevent penetration of moisture into the WPC material, at least partially flat and is connected by heating cohesively with the end faces of the adjacent profile body, so that several profile end faces, in particular open profile end faces, at least partially covered together with a single band, the band here completes a longitudinal side of the edge of the system and thereby - similar to an edge band which is applied to a furniture panel - a visually appealing system edge forms.

The surface of the strand-shaped profile body made of WPC material may in this case be provided, at least in regions, with at least one coating which prevents penetration of moisture into the WPC material.

The coating avoids the penetration of moisture into the WPC material, so that the profile body can be used in particular as a component of a floor covering for outdoor applications, such as a patio floor. (WPC is an abbreviation for " Wood Plastic Composites" and WPC material is a polymer material with wood fibers or a polymer material filled with wood fibers, the polymer material being mostly a polymer material formed on the basis of polyolefins and PVC.)

The coating is preferably made of a polymeric material, which polymeric material may preferably consist of PP (polypropylene) or SEBS. The polymeric material according to the invention may also consist at least partially of PP or SEBS. The PP may in particular be a soft PP, such as e.g. Hifax CA10 from Basell or a SEBS (styrene copolymer) from the company Multibase. The polymeric material may preferably have sufficient elasticity to compensate, if necessary, for stresses due to different coefficients of expansion.

The coating may be, e.g. by coextrusion, be applied to the outer surface of the profile body. In particular, the coating may differ in color from the profile body or be optically matched to the profile body.

In one embodiment, the profile body is designed as a profile hollow body having at least one inner surface, wherein the coating is applied to the inner and / or the outer surface. With a profile hollow body is compared to a solid profile or a solid profile body, a significant material and weight savings possible. By means of the coating provided according to the invention, which is applied to at least one inner surface of the profile hollow body, the profile hollow body can be effectively protected from moisture within at least one hollow chamber of the profile hollow body, which is bounded by the at least one inner surface. This is special therefore advantageous because it has been found by experiments that occurs in profile hollow bodies made of WPC material about 40% of the water absorption through the inner surfaces. Furthermore, the coating also makes it possible in particular to effectively protect the WPC material from bacteria and / or insects and / or algae and / or pests that are located within the hollow chamber. The risk of fungal attack can also be significantly reduced by the reduced moisture absorption or by the sealing of the inner surfaces.

The coating is preferably applied by way of coextrusion. With the coating formed by coextrusion during the production of the hollow profile body according to the invention, a profile hollow body is created whose inner surface or surfaces are already sufficiently protected from moisture, in particular, before the actual application, as for use as a floor covering component. In the context of the invention, it is of course also here, in addition to provide the outer surface of the profile body with a coating.

Compared with known systems composed of WPC profiles, the system according to the invention has the advantage that several profile end faces are at least partially covered together by a single band, which in particular closes open profile end faces. The band-shaped material is - after the individual profiles have been arranged in particular to form a floor covering next to each other - applied in a simple and practical manner on the end faces, similar to a known edge band which is applied to a furniture panel. In particular, by means of the tape according to the invention a cost in comparison to known solutions covering or closing the profile end faces possible, and further, a variety of decorative options can be easily implemented.

According to the invention, it is also provided in particular that the band-shaped material is used in systems with profiles which have a profile body which is designed as solid profile or solid profile body, wherein the band-shaped material is applied to the end faces of these profiles.

The band-shaped material is preferably at least partially made of a polymer material which can be converted by heating at least partially in a molten state, so that the band-shaped material can be connected surface and by heating cohesively with the end faces to a plurality of profile end sides together covered with a single tape and in particular to close open profile front sides moisture-tight by this band.

The band-shaped material can usually be tailored on site to the particular application and heated, for example, with hot air, so that a preferably complete cohesive connection or bonding of the tape or the band-shaped material with the end faces can be realized. The band-shaped material can also be punched out adapted to the particular application.

According to the invention, it is also provided, in particular, for a piece of a profile, which in particular can be a piece of two pieces, which are present after cutting or severing the profile in the longitudinal direction, to be a part or a component of the system according to the invention in the form of a closure profile , When cutting or cutting through a profile, which has a profile hollow body, then the cut side or longitudinal side of the end profile can have a recess which formed a part of a hollow chamber of the profile hollow body prior to cutting. According to the invention, it is provided in particular to cover this cut side or longitudinal side with the band-shaped material or the band according to the invention, in order in particular to close the cutout.

By the band or the band-shaped material also profiles with a profile hollow body can be imparted a full profile character, in particular also because an at least substantially seamless connection of the band-shaped material or the band to the profiles is possible.

The color and shape of the tape or the band-shaped material can be chosen arbitrarily and individually. The band or the band-shaped material may be adapted to the appearance of the profiles or the profile body and / or printed in color, thereby setting accents.

The band-shaped material has at least one side in the form of a visible side, which is visible after the application of the band-shaped material on the end faces, wherein the visible side can be optically adapted to the surface, in particular the outer surface of the profile body or the profiles. Alternatively, the visible side can also be colored, for example, be printed in color, to set accents and / or visually stand out from the outer surface of the profile body or the profile.

In the context of the invention, the individual coating forms can generally be combined with one another as desired, ie strip-shaped material and outer coating and / or inner coating.
In all practical embodiments of the system according to the invention, the inner coating and the outer coating preferably consist of a polymer material.

According to the invention, provision may also be made for the profiles according to the invention which are arranged next to one another to form, in particular, a façade together. Also, the profiles of the invention can be used as components of a window facade.

The heating of the band-shaped material or of the band, which preferably consists of a polymer material, can be carried out according to the invention, for example with hot air or laser radiation of a laser, so that the system according to the invention, which may be in particular a floor covering for outdoor applications, in each case on simple and practical Way can be completed. According to the invention it is provided in particular that the band-shaped material is melted by heating or partially transferred to a molten state and then applied in this molten state or partially molten state flat on the end faces to form the flat and cohesive connection.

In a preferred embodiment of the method according to the invention, a strip-shaped material is used, which has a carrier layer and a melt layer, wherein the melt layer can be converted by heating at least partially into a molten state. By using a band-shaped material having a carrier layer which is not melting or has a melting temperature which is greater, preferably significantly greater than the melting temperature of the melt layer, the compound can also be such that the melt layer of the strip-shaped material initially at least partially surface is brought into contact with the end faces and only then a heating of the band-shaped material takes place in order to form at least at least partial melting of the melt layer, the flat and cohesive connection. The melt layer may be an optionally coextruded adhesive layer, e.g. in the form of a hot glue, act. In the context of the invention, however, it is in particular also to provide an adhesive-free connection between band-shaped material and profile body by a connection to the profile body is made solely by the melting of the melt layer.

(hieran schließen die ursprünglichen Beschreibungsseiten 7 bis 9 unverändert an)(this is followed by the original description pages 7 to 9 unchanged)

In the context of the invention, it is further the case that the band-shaped material consists only of a single layer (preferably of an adhesive-free material), which is melted on its surface facing the profile body in order to establish a connection to the profile body.

Fig. 1
Fig. 2
Embodiments of the invention will be explained in more detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. It shows:
Fig. 1
a schematic sectional view of a profile according to the invention with a profile body in the form of a profile hollow body, and
Fig. 2
a schematic three-dimensional representation of a system according to the invention without the open profile end faces occlusive band, and further schematic representations of a band-shaped material.

Fig. 1 shows a schematic sectional view of a profile 10 according to the invention with a profile body 14 in the form of a profile hollow body 14 made of WPC material 12, which has three hollow chambers 16. The surface 18 of the profile hollow body 14 is composed of three inner surfaces 20, which bound each of the hollow chambers 16, and an outer surface 22 together. Each of the inner surfaces 20 is provided with a coherent coating 24 of polymeric material according to the present invention which prevents moisture from entering the WPC material 12. The outer surface 22 is also provided with a coherent coating 24 of polymer material according to the invention. All coatings 24 have been applied by coextrusion in the extrusion production of the profile 10.

Fig. 2 shows above a schematic three-dimensional representation of a system 26 according to the invention without the open profile end faces 28 occlusive band, wherein the system 26 present three juxtaposed profiles 10 each having a profile body 14 in the form of a profile hollow body 14 and wherein the three profiles 10 together a Floor covering for outdoor applications, for example in the form of a terrace floor form. In the Fig.2 shown profiles correspond in their construction to the in Fig. 1 shown profile.

The provision of only three profiles 10 is merely an example, wherein according to the invention in particular a significantly larger number of profiles 10 together can form the floor covering.

Shown is the situation before a coating according to the invention in the form of a band-shaped material 30 - after having, as schematically illustrated, e.g. unwound from a roll 32 and cut to a suitable length - melted by heating (eg with a hot air dryer or a hand laser device) or partially transferred to a molten state and then flat with the open profile end faces 28 of the adjacent profiles 10 in Contact is brought so that several open profile end faces 28 are closed together by a single band. In particular, the band-shaped material 30 can also be connected to the longitudinal sides 34 of the system 26 at least partially in a materially bonded and planar manner in order to optically close the longitudinal sides 34, in this case in such a way that the grooves 36 of the longitudinal sides 34 are of a substantially flat surface of band-shaped material 30 are covered.

Of course it can be at the in Fig. 2 Alternatively illustrated embodiment may also be completely sufficient to provide only the band-shaped material 30 to protect the inner surfaces 20 and make no coating 24 of the inner surfaces 20. Because generally, the individual coating methods (band-shaped material 30 and outer and inner coatings 24) can be combined with each other within the scope of the invention.

The Fig. 2 also shows a schematic sectional view of a band-shaped material 30 having a two-layer structure, comprising a carrier layer 40 and a melt layer 38, wherein the melt layer 38 can be at least partially converted into a molten state by heating. The carrier layer 40 is not melting or has a melting temperature that is greater, preferably significantly greater than the melting temperature of the melt layer 38. By using this strip-shaped material 30, the connection can also be such that the melt layer 38 of the strip-shaped material 30 at least in areas with the open profile end faces 28 and the longitudinal sides 34 is brought into contact and only then a heating of the band-shaped material 30 is carried out to form at least partially melting the melt layer 38, the flat and cohesive connection.
