Erfindungsgemäß wird diese Aufgabe dadurch gelöst, dass das Schneidrad in der Schneidposition in radialer Richtung bis in die Wandung des oberen Randes des Dosenrumpfes ohne durchzutrennen eingreifend vorgeschoben ist, wobei am Schneidrad in Richtung zur Randkante der Dose an die Schneidkante anschliessend eine Verdrängungsschulter vorgesehen ist. Dadurch wird erzielt, dass der Deckel in dem in die Bördelung tragenden Bereich abgeschnitten wird, wodurch vermieden wird, dass Restbereiche oder Reststege des Deckels verbleiben, die dann in die Dosenöffnung hineinragen und einerseits Verletzungen verursachen können und andererseits im Behälter befindliches Gut zurückhalten.
