Description

The invention relates to a fuel delivery device for a motor vehicle with a delivery unit for drawing fuel from a fuel tank, with a suction line for sucking fuel from a bottom region of the fuel tank, with a fuel filter connected to the suction line, with a box arranged at the bottom of the fuel tank Fuel filter and with a connecting piece for connecting the fuel filter to the suction line, wherein the box is designed like a sieve.

Such fuel delivery devices are widely used in today's motor vehicles and are known in practice. The fuel filter connected to the suction line serves as a coarse filter for prefiltering the fuel sucked in via the suction line and is preferably arranged at the lowest point of the fuel tank.

The known from practice fuel filter has a closed with a bottom plate cup-shaped member as a box. The bottom plate is held by a provided with projections edge of the cup-shaped member at a distance from the bottom of the fuel tank. In addition, the bottom plate and the cup-shaped member are provided with a plurality of openings for the production of the coarse filter. This allows filtered through the openings filtered fuel.

However, a disadvantage of the known fuel delivery device is that the assembly of the fuel filter is very complicated. In addition, the bottom and the cup-shaped component require close tolerances because they must be without gaps. A flow of unfiltered fuel between the bottom and the cup-shaped component must be avoided become. As a result, the production of the fuel filter designed very complex.

The invention is based on the problem of further developing a fuel delivery device of the type mentioned above so that it is particularly simple in construction and inexpensive to manufacture.

This problem is inventively solved in that the box is designed to be open on one side and connected to the connecting piece channel that the box rests with its open side on the bottom of the fuel tank and that a first sieve to the box and a second sieve to the Channel is arranged and that the first sieve and the second sieve are made in one piece from plastic.

With this design, the fuel filter can be particularly easy to manufacture in a single step of plastic injection molding. A rework or assembly before installation in the fuel tank is avoided thanks to the invention. As a result, only one tool is required for the manufacture of the fuel filter, resulting in a particularly simple production of the fuel filter. Preferably, the connection of the duct to the spigot is made straight, so that the shape of the duct and the spigot is created by a cylindrical core inserted into a mold.

According to an advantageous development of the invention, the fuel filter has a high filtering effect if the box has a plurality of first openings for producing the first screen, the channel has a plurality of second openings for producing the second screen and if the screens are arranged one behind the other in the flow direction of the fuel.

A particularly large filter surface on the second sieve can be according to another advantageous embodiment of the invention simply generate when the channel is disposed in a wall of a longitudinal side of the box and is closed at its end facing away from the connecting piece end.

The second openings could, for example, be incorporated into the channel after the fuel filter has been manufactured. However, to simplify the manufacture of the fuel filter, it contributes, according to another advantageous embodiment of the invention, when the channel on its inside facing the inside of the box has a plurality of transverse to its longest extent transverse ribs for limiting the second openings. These transverse ribs can be easily manufactured in the manufacture of the fuel filter by means of a correspondingly shaped mold.

To simplify the production of the second screen of the fuel filter, it contributes according to another advantageous embodiment of the invention, when the channel has on its inside a plurality of parallel to its longest extension extending longitudinal ribs for limiting the second openings. By this design, the longitudinal ribs can be easily generated by means of a run through the connecting piece core in the manufacture of the fuel filter. A rework after production is thereby avoided.

According to another advantageous development of the invention, the second openings of the second screen are particularly numerous and very small in design, when the transverse ribs and the longitudinal ribs are connected to one another at crossing points.

The fuel filter is particularly compact according to another advantageous embodiment of the invention, when projecting from the channel receiving wall of the box a peripheral edge and when in the assembled state of the fuel filter, the peripheral edge rests on the bottom of the fuel tank. As a result, the edge holds the channel at a distance to the bottom of the fuel tank. This forms below the channel a collecting space for the prefiltered from the first filter fuel. Clogging of the second, arranged on the channel sieve is thanks to the invention kept particularly low.

According to another advantageous development of the invention, the fuel filter can be produced in a particularly cost-effective manner from injection-molded plastic, if opposing regions of the peripheral edge are designed to be parallel or slightly pointing away from one another.

To further simplify the manufacture of the fuel filter, it contributes according to another advantageous embodiment of the invention, when the connecting piece is made in one piece with the first wire and the second wire and has a Christmas tree profile for attaching the suction line.
