Definitions

  • logs containing a predetermined quantity of a wound web material are produced in rapid sequence by rewinding machines. These logs usually have a much greater axial length than the length of the finished products, typically rolls of toilet paper or kitchen towels. The logs thus produced must therefore be handled further to be cut into rolls of smaller length and then packaged in packs of plastic film, paper, cardboard or the like. These handling operations require the tail end of the log to be stably fastened to the log, to prevent accidental unwinding of the web material, both during the steps to cut it into rolls and during the subsequent packaging steps.
  • GB-A-1,009,697 discloses a method and a device that fastens the tail end of a log of web material without glue.
  • This system provides for application of a liquid, for example water, to the wound log and embossing with a punch that acts orthogonally to the log, at the tail end on the area in which the liquid was applied.
  • the combination of the embossing pressure and of the liquid causes ply-bonding between the tail end and a plurality of underlying layers, i.e. turns, of web material.

Claims (24)

  1. Un procédé de fermeture de l'extrémité finale (L) d'un rouleau (R) de matériau en bande, comprenant les étapes suivantes :
    - la fourniture d'un dispositif de pliage (55 ; 205 ; 223), pour former un pli transversal (F) dans une partie du matériau en bande déroulé du rouleau ;
    - la fourniture d'un organe de jonction mécanique (91 ; 215), disposé et contrôlé pour joindre mécaniquement l'extrémité finale (L) à une partie du matériau en bande dudit rouleau (R) ;
    - le déroulement d'une longueur de matériau en bande du rouleau ;
    - la formation d'un pli dans le matériau en bande à une distance depuis l'extrémité finale approximativement égale à l'étendue circonférentielle dudit rouleau, au moyen dudit dispositif de pliage (55 ; 205, 223), ledit pli (F) faisant saillie depuis la surface du rouleau ;
    - la fixation de ladite extrémité finale audit pli au moyen dudit organe de jonction mécanique (91 ; 215).
  2. Procédé selon la revendication 1, caractérisé par la fixation de l'extrémité finale dudit rouleau audit pli en appliquant une pression sur le matériau en bande ou par perforation.
  3. Procédé selon la revendication 1 ou 2, caractérisé en ce que ledit pli (F) est formé et stabilisé en joignant mécaniquement deux parties transversales adjacentes de matériau en bande avant de joindre ladite extrémité finale (L) audit pli.
  4. Procédé selon la revendication 3, caractérisé en ce que lesdites deux parties transversales sont jointes par l'application d'une pression auxdites parties.
  5. Procédé selon une ou plusieurs des revendications précédentes, caractérisé par les étapes consistant à :
    a) dérouler ladite longueur de matériau en bande le long d'une surface de déroulement (207, 208) ;
    b) former, sous ladite surface de déroulement, ledit pli (F) de matériau en bande dans ladite longueur de matériau en bande déroulé ;
    c) faire rouler ledit rouleau le long de la surface de déroulement pour enrouler à nouveau ladite longueur de matériau en bande autour dudit rouleau, avec le pli faisant saillie depuis le rouleau ;
    d) positionner l'extrémité finale du matériau en bande et ledit pli côte-à-côte ;
    e) joindre l'extrémité finale au pli.
  6. Procédé selon la revendication 5, caractérisé en ce que ladite longueur de matériau en bande déroulé du rouleau est retenue sur la surface de déroulement par aspiration.
  7. Procédé selon la revendication 5 ou 6, caractérisé en ce que ledit pli est formé pneumatiquement.
  8. Procédé selon une ou plusieurs des revendications 5 à 7, caractérisé par l'insertion pneumatique dudit pli (F) et de ladite extrémité finale (L) dans une cavité transversale (211) sous ladite surface de déroulement (207, 208), après que ladite longueur de matériau en bande a été enroulée à nouveau autour du rouleau (R).
  9. Procédé selon une ou plusieurs des revendications précédentes, caractérisé par les étapes consistant à :
    a) dérouler ladite longueur de matériau en bande le long d'une surface de déroulement (207, 208) ;
    b) former ledit pli (F) de matériau en bande faisant saillie depuis la surface du rouleau et positionner ledit pli sous ladite surface de déroulement adjacente à ladite extrémité finale (L) ;
    c) joindre l'extrémité finale au pli par jonction mécanique.
  10. Procédé selon un ou plusieurs des revendications précédentes, caractérisé en ce que ledit matériau en bande est du papier et en particulier du papier mousseline.
  11. Un dispositif pour fermer l'extrémité finale (L) d'un rouleau (R) de matériau en bande enroulé, comprenant :
    - un dispositif de déroulement (13, 49 ; 201, 205) pour dérouler une longueur de matériau en bande dudit rouleau (R) ;
    - un dispositif de pliage (55 ; 205 ; 223) pour former un pli transversal (F) dans une partie du matériau en bande déroulé du rouleau (R) ;
    - un organe de jonction mécanique (91 ; 215) disposé et contrôlé pour joindre mécaniquement ladite extrémité finale (L) à une partie (F) de matériau en bande dudit rouleau ;
    dans lequel ledit dispositif de pliage (55 ; 205, 223) et ledit organe de jonction (91 ; 215) sont disposés pour joindre l'une à l'autre, au moyen d'une jonction mécanique, l'extrémité finale (L) et ledit pli transversal (F) de matériau en bande, ledit pli faisant saillie depuis la surface du rouleau.
  12. Dispositif selon la revendication 11, caractérisé en ce que ledit organe de jonction mécanique comprend au moins un élément de pression.
  13. Dispositif selon la revendication 11 ou 12, caractérisé en ce que ledit dispositif de pliage (205, 223) est disposé pour former ledit pli transversal (F) dans une partie du matériau en bande formant la spire la plus externe du rouleau.
  14. Dispositif selon une ou plusieurs des revendications 11 à 13, caractérisé par un organe pour stabiliser ledit pli.
  15. Dispositif selon une ou plusieurs des revendications 11 à 14, caractérisé en ce que ledit dispositif de pliage comprend un organe de couplage (57) pour coupler mécaniquement deux parties transversales adjacentes du matériau en bande formant ledit pli transversal.
  16. Dispositif selon la revendication 15, caractérisé en ce que ledit organe de couplage comprend un organe de pression (57A).
  17. Dispositif selon une ou plusieurs des revendications 11 à 16, caractérisé en ce qu'il comprend une cavité transversale à l'intérieur de laquelle ledit pli transversal est inséré.
  18. Dispositif selon une ou plusieurs des revendications 11 à 17, caractérisé en ce que ledit dispositif de pliage comprend un système pneumatique (223) pour former ledit pli transversal.
  19. Dispositif selon une ou plusieurs des revendications 11 à 18, caractérisé en ce qu'il comprend une cavité transversale (211) et des organes pour former un pli transversal de matériau en bande dans ladite cavité transversale ; et en ce que ledit organe de jonction (215) est associé avec ladite cavité pour joindre l'une à l'autre, par jonction mécanique, l'extrémité finale (L) et ledit pli transversal (F) du matériau en bande.
  20. Dispositif selon une ou plusieurs des revendications 11 à 19, caractérisé en ce qu'il comprend une surface de déroulement (27 ; 207) du matériau en bande disposée sous un chemin d'avancement des rouleaux (R) ; en ce qu'en amont de ladite surface de déroulement est position au moins un dispositif de rotation (49, 13 ; 205, 201, M) pour faire tourner ledit rouleau d'une manière contrôlée ; et en ce que ledit organe de jonction est placé en aval de ladite surface de déroulement (27 ; 207) par rapport à la direction d'avancement du roulement.
  21. Dispositif selon la revendication 20, caractérisé en ce que ladite surface de déroulement (27 ; 207) du matériau en bande est une surface d'aspiration.
  22. Dispositif selon la revendication 20 ou 21, caractérisé en ce que ledit dispositif de rotation comprend : un rouleau tournant (49 ; 205 ; 201) et/ou un mandrin tournant (M), apte à saisir axialement ledit rouleau et/ou deux mandrins tournants opposés et sensiblement coaxiaux pour saisir axialement ledit rouleau.
  23. Dispositif selon une ou plusieurs des revendications 20 à 22, caractérisé en ce qu'il comprend une pluralité de buses (223) disposées dans une pluralité de positions angulaires différentes autour d'une position de rotation du rouleau, orientées vers le rouleau se trouvant dans ladite position de rotation.
  24. Dispositif selon une ou plusieurs de revendications 11 à 23, caractérisé en ce que ledit organe de jonction mécanique comprend un organe oscillant (215) et un organe d'actionnement (221) qui commande une oscillation dudit organe oscillant et la compression de l'extrémité finale contre ladite partie du matériau en bande, ou une roue de pression (91), prévue avec un mouvement transversal, sensiblement parallèle à l'axe dudit rouleau.
