Claims (8)

  1. Kraftstoffinjektor, der aufweist einen Injektorkörper (10) mit einer Sprayöffnung (12); einen Zapfen (14), der sich in dem Injektorkörper erstreckt für eine axiale Bewegung zwischen einer geschlossenen Position, in der ein Kopf (16) des Zapfens mit einem sich verjüngenden Ventilsitz (20) der Sprayöffnung in Eingriff ist, wobei der sich verjüngende Ventilsitz (20) die Sprayöffnung (12) umgibt, um die Sprayöffnung abzudichten, und einer offenen Position, in der der Zapfenkopf von dem Ventilsitz beabstandet ist, um zu ermöglichen, dass Kraftstoff durch die Sprayöffnung fließen kann, wobei Betätigungsmittel vorgesehen sind zum selektiven Bewegen des Zapfens in seine offene Position; wobei der Zapfenkopf (16) einen sich verjüngenden Teil (18) aufweist, der in Eingriff gebracht werden kann mit dem entsprechenden sich verjüngenden Ventilsitz (20) der Sprayöffnung, und einen zylindrischen Teil (22) stromaufwärts von dem sich verjüngenden Teil, wobei ein Ringkanal (26) vorgesehen ist, der einen ersten Teil eines Strömungsdurchlasses stromaufwärts von der Sprayöffnung (12) definiert, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass eine Diskontinuität (30, 50), die zu einer Trennung des Stromes von einer Oberfläche des Ringkanals führt, stromabwärts des Ringkanals (26) und stromaufwärts der Sprayöffnung vorgesehen ist, um eine Kavitation zu erzeugen, wenn der Zapfenhub eine vorgegebene Grenze überschreitet, um dadurch einen virtuellen Kanal mit konstantem Querschnitt stromabwärts des Ringkanals (26) zu erzeugen, wodurch die Durchflussrate des Kraftstoffs, der durch die Sprayöffnung strömt, im Wesentlichen unabhängig ist von dem Hub des Zapfens, wenn der Zapfen in seiner offenen Position ist, wobei die relativen Dimensionen des Ringkanals (26), der Diskontinuität (30, 50) und des Abstands zwischen dem Ventilsitz (20) und dem sich verjüngenden Teil des Zapfenkopfs, wenn der Zapfen in seiner vollständig offenen Position ist, gewählt sind als eine Funktion einer oder mehrerer physikalischer Eigenschaften des zu injizierenden Kraftstoffs, um die Kavitation stromabwärts von dem Ringkanal zu erzeugen.
  2. Kraftstoffinjektor gemäß Anspruch 1, wobei der Ringkanal (26) zwischen einem im Wesentlichen zylindrischen Teil (22) des Zapfens und einem konzentrischen Teil (24) des Injektorkörpers definiert ist.
  3. Kraftstoffinjektor gemäß Anspruch 2, wobei die Diskontinuität an dem Zapfenkopf (16) zwischen dem zylindrischen Teil (22) und seinem sich verjüngenden Teil (18) vorgesehen ist.
  4. Kraftstoffinjektor gemäß Anspruch 2, wobei die Diskontinuität (30) an dem Injektorkörper zwischen seinem konzentrischen Teil (24) und dem Ventilsitz (20) vorgesehen ist.
  5. Kraftstoffinjektor gemäß einem vorhergehenden Anspruch, wobei die Diskontinuität (30) eine abgeschrägte Oberfläche aufweist.
  6. Kraftstoffinjektor gemäß einem vorhergehenden Anspruch, wobei die Diskontinuität (50) eine gestufte Oberfläche aufweist.
  7. Verfahren zur Herstellung eines Kraftstoffinjektors, wobei der Kraftstoffinjektor aufweist einen Injektorkörper (10) mit einer Sprayöffnung (12); einen Zapfen (14), der sich in dem Injektorkörper erstreckt für eine axiale Bewegung zwischen einer geschlossenen Position, in der ein Kopf (16) des Zapfens mit einem sich verjüngenden Ventilsitz (20) der Sprayöffnung in Eingriff ist, wobei der sich verjüngende Ventilsitz (20) die Sprayöffnung (12) umgibt, um die Sprayöffnung abzudichten, und einer offenen Position, in der der Zapfenkopf von dem Ventilsitz beabstandet ist, um zu ermöglichen, dass Kraftstoff durch die Sprayöffnung fließen kann, wobei der Zapfenkopf (16) einen sich verjüngenden Teil (18) aufweist, der in Eingriff gebracht werden kann mit dem entsprechenden sich verjüngenden Ventilsitz der Sprayöffnung, und einen zylindrischen Teil (22) stromaufwärts von dem sich verjüngenden Teil, wobei das Verfahren aufweist den Schritt eines Vorsehens eines Ringkanals (26), der einen ersten Teil eines Strömungsdurchlasses stromaufwärts von der Sprayöffnung (12) definiert, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das Verfahren weiter aufweist den Schritt eines Vorsehens einer Diskontinuität (30, 50) stromabwärts des Ringkanals (26) und stromaufwärts der Sprayöffnung, die zu einer Trennung des Stromes von einer Oberfläche des Ringkanals führt, um eine Kavitation zu erzeugen, wenn der Zapfenhub eine vorgegebene Grenze überschreitet, um dadurch einen virtuellen Kanal mit konstantem Querschnitt stromabwärts des Ringkanals (26) zu erzeugen, wodurch die Durchflussrate des Kraftstoffs, der durch die Sprayöffnung strömt, im Wesentlichen unabhängig ist von dem Hub des Zapfens, wenn der Zapfen in seiner offenen Position ist, wobei die relativen Dimensionen des Ringkanals (26), der Diskontinuität (30, 50) und des Abstands zwischen dem Ventilsitz und dem sich verjüngenden Teil des Zapfenkopfs, wenn der Zapfen in seiner vollständig offenen Position ist, gewählt sind als eine Funktion einer oder mehrerer physikalischer Eigenschaften des zu injizierenden Kraftstoffs, um die Kavitation stromabwärts von dem Ringkanal zu erzeugen.
  8. Verfahren gemäß Anspruch 7, wobei die eine oder mehrere physikalische Eigenschaft(en) des Kraftstoffs eines oder mehrere aus Kraftstoffdampfdruck, Dichte und Kraftstoffviskosität aufweist/aufweisen.
