An Tragkonstruktionen befestigte Glasplatten finden sich häufig in öffentlichen Gebäuden wie U-Bahnschächten, Geländern von Einkaufszentren, an Brücken usw. Insbesondere im Freien können z.B. durch Windlasten vergleichsweise hohe Kräfte quer zur Plattenebene auf die Glasscheibe wirken.
