Da in diesen Hochseilgärten üblicherweise ausschließlich Laien klettern bzw. trainieren, sind spezielle Sicherungssysteme erforderlich, welche einerseits einfach zu bedienen, bzw. Handzuhaben sind und andererseits eine ausreichende Sicherheit für die zu sichernden Personen bieten. Die vom normalen Bergsteigen her bekannten Sicherungseinrichtungen sind dabei üblicherweise aufgrund ihrer funktional anderen Konzeption (keine Selbstsicherungsfunktion) und ihrer für Hochseilgärten unzureichenden Zeitstandsfestigkeit nicht auf derartige Hochseilgärten übertragbar, wogegen die im gewerblichen Bereich eingesetzten Sicherungseinrichtungen üblicherweise zu groß dimensioniert und dadurch zu schwer sind. Wichtig ist eine derartige Halteöffnung, welche beispielsweise als Öse ausgebildet sein kann, auch für einen Rettungsfall, bei dem eine, beispielsweise bewusstlose, Person am Seil hängt und von Rettungskräften geborgen werden muss. Hierbei können die Rettungskräfte entlang des Seils zur verunglückten Person gelangen und in der Halteöffnung der Sicherungseinrichtung der verunglückten Person, ein Ende eines Zugseiles befestigen, so dass die verunglückte Person anschließend mit diesem Zugseil an einen leichter zugänglichen Bergungsort gezogen werden kann.
