Abstract

The method involves examining characteristics of a set of circular calendar bands (8) with respect to feasibility of break, cracks, thickness, surface structure, surface condition and surface defects of the calendar bands during operation of a band calendar device (1). An alarm is issued during exceeding of predetermined threshold values. The device is stopped during exceeding of the values. The characteristics of the calendar bands are checked by path measurement and acceleration measurement in region of cylinder (2) and acceleration measuring sensor (14) of the bands.
