Claims (7)

  1. An apparatus for grinding rails (2) of a track (3), comprising a base frame (4), supportable on a rail, and a copying frame (5) which is articulatedly connected to the base frame for pivoting about a pivot axis (6) extending in the longitudinal direction of the rails and on which are arranged a rotatable grinding member (11), having an axis of rotation (13) extending perpendicularly to the longitudinal direction of the rails, as well as a combustion engine (16) connected as a work drive (15) to said grinding member, characterized in that the combustion engine (16) is mounted for rotation about an axis of rotation (19) and mechanically coupled to the base frame (4) for rotation by means of a drive device (20).
  2. An apparatus according to claim 1, characterized in that the drive device (20) is configured for rotation of the combustion engine (16) about the axis of rotation (19) in such a way that, during the pivoting of the copying frame (5) about the pivot axis (6), a crankshaft (33) of the combustion engine (16) always comes to lie lower - with regard to a vertical - than a cylinder head (34) of the combustion engine (16).
  3. An apparatus according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the drive device (20) is designed as an angle transmission (22) for directly proportional transformation of the pivoting motion of the copying frame (5) about the pivot axis (6) into a rotating motion of the combustion engine (16) about the axis of rotation (19).
  4. An apparatus according to claims 1 to 3, characterized in that the combustion engine (16) is designed for rotation about the axis of rotation (19) over a range of ±90° from the base position intended for grinding a horizontal rail running surface (14).
  5. An apparatus according to claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the combustion engine (16) is mounted on the copying frame (5) at a distance from the grinding member (11), with regard to the longitudinal direction of the rails.
  6. An apparatus according to claim 1, characterized in that the drive device (20) is designed as a kinematic multiple joint.
  7. An apparatus according to claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the combustion engine (16) is arranged on the copying frame (5) in such a way that its axis of rotation (19) extends coaxially to the axis of rotation (13) of the grinding member (11).
