Abstract

Inner lining according for mixers or tumblers, which comprises one or more plates (1, 2, 3) suitable for being applied to the inner walls of a vessel (4) of a mixer or a tumbler, wherein said plates (1, 2, 3) are made of an elastomeric material and their surface suitable for being applied to the vessel (4) is provided with one or more shaped grooves in which at least one bar (5, 6, 7) shaped with a profile complementary to the profile of the grooves can be snap-fitted. The present invention also relates to a mixed and a tumbler comprising said lining.

Description

  • The present invention relates to a lining for vessels of mixers and tumblers, and in particular to a lining which can be employed for protecting the inner walls of the vessel of a mixer or a tumbler from the impacts of the materials treated in them. The present invention also relates to a mixed and a tumbler comprising said lining.
  • The vessels of mixers and tumblers are generally lined by a layer of an elastomeric material which is applied in a melted form on the inner walls of the vessels, so that this material has to be completely removed when one or more portions thereof are damaged, with consequent waste of material and high pollution. As an alternative, other vessels are lined by a plurality of steel plates which are bolted to the walls, so as to be substituted when they are damaged. However, such a substitution is not simple because of the bolts.
  • It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a lining which is free from said disadvantages. Said object is achieved with a lining, whose main features are disclosed in the first claim, while other features are disclosed in the remaining claims.
  • Thanks to the use of plates which can be snap-fitted on shaped bars welded to the inner walls of the vessels of mixers or tumblers, the lining according to the present invention can be easily applied and quickly substituted when a portion thereof is damaged, without waste of material.
  • Furthermore, the particular shape and arrangement of the bars, the plates and the relevant grooves make said application or substitution even simpler and quicker, thereby improving at the same time the joining of the plates to the vessel during the use.
  • Further advantages and features of the lining according to the present invention will become clear to those skilled in the art from the following detailed and non-limiting description of an embodiment thereof with reference to the attached drawings, wherein:
    • figure 1 shows a top view of a vessel comprising said lining;
    • figure 2 shows section II-II of figure 1;
    • figure 3 shows detail III of figure 1; and
    • figure 4 shows an enlarged view of the profile of a bar of the lining.
  • Referring to figures 1 and 2, it is seen that the lining according to the present invention comprises in a known way one or more plates 1, 2, 3 suitable for being applied to the inner walls of a vessel 4 of a mixer or a tumbler, which vessel 4 has generally a substantially cylindrical shape. Plates 1, 2, 3 are therefore applied to the inner bottom and/or to the inner cylindrical wall of vessel 4.
  • According to the invention, the surface of plates 1, 2, 3 suitable for being applied to vessel 4 is provided with one or more shaped grooves in which at least one bar 5, 6, 7 can be snap-fitted. Bars 6 and 7 are illustrated with broken lines in figure 1. Bars 5, 6, 7 can be fastened, in particular welded, to an inner wall of vessel 4 and are shaped with a profile suitable for the fitting into a groove of plates 1, 2, 3. In the present embodiment, a plurality of first rectilinear bars 5 are fastened to the inner cylindrical wall of vessel 4 along generatrices of the latter, a plurality of second rectilinear bars 6 are fastened to the bottom of vessel 4 along radial axes, while at least one curved bar 7 is fastened to the bottom of vessel 4 in the middle of the latter along a coaxial circle. First plates 1 have a substantially rectangular shape, which is curved when they are applied to vessel 4, and a plurality of grooves parallel to each other, second plates 2 have a substantially circular sector or annular shape with a plurality of radial grooves, while a third plate 3 has a substantially circular shape with at least one circular groove, in particular coaxial. Plates 1, 2, 3 are suitably made of an elastomeric material, in particular polyurethane.
  • Referring to figures 3 and 4, it is seen that the profile of one or more bars 5, 6, 7, for example of first rectilinear bars 5, is substantially rectangular with a pair of protrusions 5a, 5b which project from two opposite sides near the upper side. Protrusions 5a, 5b are inclined downwards with an angle A comprised between 30° and 60°. The free end of protrusions 5a, 5b is rounded with a curvature radius r comprised between 0,5 and 1,5 mm. Width L1 of bars 5, including protrusions 5a, 5b, is shorter than its height H but greater than width L2 of their lower portion arranged under protrusions 5a, 5b. Width L1 is comprised between 10 and 12 mm, width L2 is comprised between 4 and 6 mm, while height H is comprised between 10 and 14 mm. The thickness of plates 1, 2, 3 is preferably greater than the double of height H of bars 5, 6, 7, that is than their grooves, which have a profile substantially complementary to the profile of bars 5, 6, 7 but have the outer edges 3a bevelled to facilitate the insertion of bars 5, 6, 7 in them and to house welding material 8 employed for fastening bars 5, 6, 7 to vessel 4.
  • Possible modifications and/or additions may be made by those skilled in the art to the hereinabove disclosed and illustrated embodiment while remaining within the scope of the following claims.
