Abstract

The method involves moving a material web (1) in a web longitudinal direction, and moving out constantly spaced fold regions of the material web in two opposing directions from a web layer. Each fold region is provided with a fold line running transverse to the material web longitudinal direction. The fold regions are brought into a gap of a clamping device (19) for producing the fold lines. The fold lines are then formed by closing motion of the clamping device, and a material web run is controlled based on repeated punching or marking of the material web. An independent claim is also included for a device for pre-folding a web.

Description

The invention relates to a method for pre-folding a material web, wherein the material web is moved in the web longitudinal direction and uniformly spaced fold regions of the material web moved out in a first and an opposite second direction from the web plane mutually and are each provided with a transverse to the web longitudinal fold line. The material web is made of a stiff, difficult to fold material, so that a pre-folding is required. Such a web may comprise, for example, substantially flat packaging pieces which are arranged protected between a carrier layer and a cover layer, wherein the cover layer and the carrier layer are connected to one another in the regions between the packaging pieces. In order to save space for a large number of packaging pieces arranged between the carrier layer and the cover layer for a user, the material web should frequently be laid in a zigzag shape. Since the described web of material is stiff in the sealed areas between the packages, direct folding without damage to the carrier or topsheet is not readily possible.

A device for pre-folding a material web is known from the document DE 2 311 495 A1 known, wherein a multilayer material web is passed through a folding station. At uniformly spaced fold areas, the web is alternately moved out in a first and an opposite second direction of a sword from the web plane and inserted to form a loop in an associated clip. By inserting the fold areas in the clamp a fold line is formed, wherein the material web can be heavily stressed and destroyed due to the shear forces acting. The described device is only suitable for material webs which have a high strength.

In US 2,815,205 discloses a machine for folding paper, wherein above and below the paper web is formed in each case by two rigid blocks each a gap in which the paper web is pushed for introducing a kink or a fold. Out DE 196 03 076 are embossing dies known with which a material web alterierend upper side and underside is applied to form a fold. In addition, concerns DE 32 40 627 A1 a device for folding formation in a material web, wherein above and below the material web in each case a gap forming pair of rollers is arranged. The material web is then alternately pushed into the above and below arranged gap for seaming.

Against this background, the invention has the object to provide a method which allows for a rigid material web, a prefolding with a low load. In particular, damage to the individual layers should be reliably avoided in the case of a multilayer material web.

Starting from a method with the features described in the introduction, the object is achieved by a method for pre-folding a material web, which has a carrier layer, applied to the carrier layer packing pieces and the packaging pieces around associated with the carrier layer cover layer, wherein the web moves in the web longitudinal direction is, with evenly spaced Falzbereiche the web moved alternately in a first and an opposite second direction of the web plane and are brought to produce a transverse to the web longitudinal direction fold line each in a gap of a clamping device, wherein the fold lines without severing the carrier layer and the cover layer between the packaging pieces are formed by a closing movement of the clamping device acting essentially along the direction of advance of the material web. By moving the fold areas out of the plane of the material web, a loop is formed, in which case the clamping device acts laterally on this loop. Both shear stresses and excessive tensile stresses can be avoided in the pre-folding by the generation of the fold line. Conveniently, the web of material rests during the formation of a fold line and is then cyclically advanced after opening of the clamping device.

In order to enable an accurate and verifiable movement of the web, the web run can be controlled by means of repeat marks or repeat punches of the web.

In a preferred embodiment of the invention it is provided that the material web has weakening lines or perforations, so that individual sections can be separated off. The weakening lines or perforations are expediently formed prior to the generation of the fold lines in the fold regions of the material web, as a result of which the prefolding is also facilitated.

In the embodiment of the method according to the invention, it is provided that the material web has a carrier layer, packaging pieces laid on the carrier layer, for example filter papers, and a cover layer which is connected to the carrier layer around the packaging pieces, the fold lines being formed between the packaging pieces. The mutual folding of the material web should be carried out so that neither the cover layer nor the carrier layer are severed, otherwise an optimal protection of the packaging pieces is no longer guaranteed.

The invention also relates to a device for pre-folding a material web with a folding station, which has a carrier plate, a web guide running in the web longitudinal direction and two oppositely acting, arranged transversely to the web guide folding units, said folding units each having a clamping device with at least one jaw and a sword, with the fold region in the material web into a gap of the clamping device can be introduced, and wherein the clamping jaw is movable to produce fold lines of the material web, wherein the clamping jaw along the advancing direction of the material web is movable, wherein the fold line can be formed by a closing movement of the clamping device , wherein the folding unit are arranged offset in the web longitudinal direction to each other and wherein in the running direction of the web before the folding station designed as a register roller arrangement web memory is arranged. The embodiment of the clamping device is not limited within the scope of the invention, wherein the clamping movement to produce a fold line is such that is laterally acted on a loop formed by a feed movement of the sword, so that no strong shear or tensile forces occur on the web. In a direction perpendicular to the material web or substantially vertical direction of movement of the sword is then the Advancing movement of the at least one jaw approximately along the direction of advance of the web. The clamping device can be formed without restriction from two movably guided jaws, a movable and a fixed jaw or a movable jaw and an associated stop surface of the support plate.

In order to be able to compensate for the loop formed during the folding of the fold region of the material web without a large tensile load of the material web, a web store, for example a register roll arrangement, is arranged directly in front of and behind the folding station. In order to prevent damage to the material web by snagging in the clamping device even in the further transport of the web after opening one of the clamping device after generating a fold line, an ejection element can be provided, which pushes the rabbet areas of the clamping device.

For the cyclic propulsion of the material web, a propulsion unit is provided in front of and / or behind the folding station in a preferred embodiment of the invention. The moving parts of the folding station can preferably be driven hydraulically or pneumatically, wherein in the context of such a configuration particularly fast and precise movements are possible. In the context of the present invention, the cycle rate for producing the fold lines is preferably greater than 25 cycles per minute, particularly preferably greater than or equal to 40 cycles per minute. The invention will be explained in the following with reference to a drawing showing only one exemplary embodiment. They show schematically:

Fig. 1 shows a device for pre-folding a material web 1. The apparatus comprises a station 2 for generating lines of weakness, a folding station 3 for pre-folding of the material web 1, formed as a register roller assembly web memory 4 and a roller feed 5 for propelling the material web 1.

The unfolded material web 1 is in the Fig. 2a and consists of a carrier layer 11, placed on the carrier layer 11 filter papers 12 and a cover layer 13 of a polyethylene film, which is connected to the filter papers 12 around with the carrier layer 11 made of paper. The material web 1 is to be folded between the individual filter papers 12, so that sections 7 can be separated, each with a filter paper 12. In the illustrated embodiment, the carrier layer 11 has a thickness of about 80 microns and the polyethylene film of the cover layer 13 has a thickness of about 50 microns. The width of the material web 1 is 80 mm and the length of the sections to be folded 7 75 mm. Since the cover layer 13 is sealed to the carrier layer 11 between the filter papers 12, the material web 1 is comparatively stiff in these areas and thus difficult to fold, so that a prefolding is required. The filter papers 12 may be determined, for example, for laboratory analytical purposes, which is why the carrier layer 11 and the cover layer 13 must not be damaged in the pre-folding and the subsequent folding process, since otherwise contamination may occur and a sterility of the filter papers 12 is no longer guaranteed. To control the web run to be folded sections 7 are each provided with repeat punching 14, which are optically detected. Fig. 2b shows a package 9 of several zig-zag folded sections 7 of the web 1, which can be supplied, for example in a dispenser to a user.

The material web 1 first passes through the station 2 to produce a line of weakness. The weakening line can be formed, for example, in the manner of a perforation, but the carrier layer 11 and / or the cover layer 13 are only partially scored or scored and not cut, as is usual in a perforation. The material web 1 is then guided via a roller feed 5 and a web storage 4 for pre-folding in a folding station 3. The folding station 3 has a carrier plate 16, a running in the web longitudinal direction web guide 17 and two oppositely acting, arranged transversely to the web guide 17 folding units 18. The staggered in the web longitudinal direction folding units 18 each comprise a clamping device 19 with a jaw 20 and a sword 21, with a folding portion 22 of the web 1 to form a loop in a formed between the jaw 20 and a stop surface 24 of the support plate 16 gap 25 inserted are, wherein the clamping jaw 20 is then delivered to produce fold lines of the material web 1 by a closing action of the clamping device 19 in the direction of the loop formed. The propulsion of the material web 1 and the mutual generation of fold lines in the fold areas 22 takes place cyclically with a clock rate of up to 40 cycles per minute or more. Since the fold regions 22 are moved out of the web plane to produce the fold lines to form a loop, a length compensation is required which is made possible by the upstream web store 4. The swords 21 and the column 25 are arranged perpendicular to the running direction of the material web 1. Since in the folding, the clamping jaw 20 of the clamping device 19 acts laterally on the inserted from the blade 21 web 1, only relatively low loads on the material web 1, so that the carrier layer 11 and the cover layer 13 are not severed in the formation of the fold line. In order to avoid a large tensile load in the further transport of the material web 1, an ejector blade as ejection element 26th provided, which pushes out the folding area 22 of the material web 1 from the opening gap 25 after opening the clamping device.

According to the invention, the material web 1 can be precisely prefolded at the stiff regions between the individual filter papers 12. After pre-folding, the material web 1 can be folded in different ways. Depending on the design and stiffness of the material web 1, it may be sufficient if this is simply pushed together. Furthermore, after pre-folding, various folding devices known in practice can also be used without restriction.
