Claims (14)

  1. An automatic closing mechanism for a wing (C) of a door or window, comprising:
    - an adjusting device (1) which can be fixed in the region of the door- or window-frame;
    - a swivel lever (2) which can be fixed to the wing (C) and swivels by cooperating with the adjusting device (1), said swivel lever (2) being fixed to a shaft, which is vertically oriented in the assembled state, for co-rotation therewith;
    - an actuating device coupled with the shaft (5),
    - a spring element (6) which, when the wing (C) is opened, is loaded under the influence of the actuating device; and
    - a catch mechanism which secures the wing (C) in the open position against automatic closure under the influence of the preloaded spring element (6),
    characterized in that the spring power of the spring element (6) acts parallel to the shaft (5) and in such a way that the swivelling movement of the swivel lever (2) is converted into a linear movement of the actuating device, said linear movement being oriented parallel to the shaft (5).
  2. An automatic closing mechanism according to Claim 1, characterized in that the actuating device for converting the rotary movement into a linear movement comprises two lower and upper actuators (7, 8 or 10, 11) disposed in the region of the shaft (5) and parallel thereto and aligned with one another, said actuators (7, 8 or 10, 11) having, in the region of their opposed ends, sliding surfaces (7.1 and 8.1, 10.1, 10.3 and 11.1, 11.2, 11.3 respectively) which are inclined in radial and axial direction, one actuator being rotatably relative to the other actuator in such a way that, on swivelling of the swivel lever (2), one actuator (7 or 10) is displaced in axial direction.

An automatic closing mechanism according to Claim 2, characterized in that, in the assembled state, the lower end of the spring element (6) is supported on a thrust bearing (9), and in that the lower actuator (7 or 10), which is movable in axial direction, is supported on the upper side of the spring element (6).
  4. An automatic closing mechanism according to Claim 2 or 3, characterized in that the two actuators (7, 8 or 10, 11) take the form of cylindrical sleeves mounted on the shaft.
  5. An automatic closing mechanism according to one of Claims 2 to 4, characterized in that the upper actuator (8 or 11) can be fixed at the upper side of the wing (C), preferably by means of a cuff plate (3), in such a way as to be immobile, and in that the lower actuator (7 or 10) is coupled with the shaft (5) for co-rotation therewith and is mounted on said shaft so as to be displaceable relative to it in axial direction.
  6. An automatic closing mechanism according to Claim 5, characterized in that the lower actuator (7 or 10) has a guide slot (7.2) extending in axial direction, and a guide pin (5.1), attached to the shaft (5) and oriented in substantially radial direction, projects into said guide slot (7.2).
  7. An automatic closing mechanism according to Claim 6, characterized in that the lower actuator has two guide slots (7.2) located diametrically opposite one another, and guide pins (5.1) attached to the shaft (5) project into said guide slots.
  8. An automatic closing mechanism according to one of Claims 2 to 7, characterized in that, at their outer ends, the inclined surfaces (7.1; 8.1) have catching elements in the form of interlocking recesses (7.3) and projections (8.3).
  9. An automatic closing mechanism according to Claim 6 or 7, characterized in that, in the region of its outer circumference, one actuator (10) has at least one projection (10.1) oriented in axial direction, and in that, in the outer surface of the second actuator (11), two recesses (11.1; 11.2) of different depths are provided for each projection, said recesses (11.1; 11.2) lying side by side and extending in axial direction with a catching projection (11.3) located between them.
  10. An automatic closing mechanism according to one of Claims 2 to 8, characterized in that the spring element (6) is a helical pressure spring mounted on the shaft (5), and in that the shaft has a screw thread (5.1) at its lower end for an adjusting nut which constitutes the thrust bearing (9).
