Definitions
- the technical field of the invention relates to motor vehicle engines, and more specifically the so-called EGR valves, which are valves positioned on a pneumatic conduit connecting the exhaust gas circuit to the engine intake circuit.
- the essential function of an EGR valve is to regulate the quantity of exhaust gas to be mixed with the intake gases, in order to reduce the amount of polluting particles emitted by the engine.
- the invention relates to a device for replacing an EGR valve, implementing a fluid circuit and having the particularity of not involving mechanical parts to avoid any problem of fouling.
- the invention proposes to use a device for replacing such a valve, thus ensuring the same function and relying on a fluid flow, able to filter a certain amount of exhaust gas. In this way, such a fluidic device eliminates any source of mechanical malfunctions related to the use of a valve.
- the present invention relates to a device for regulating the amount of gas to be taken from the exhaust duct of a motor vehicle engine to mix it with the gases of the intake duct of said engine, comprising a connecting pipe between said conduits.
- the main technical feature of a device according to the invention is that it comprises a fluid circuit placed in communication with said pipe.
- the fluid circuit crosses perpendicularly to the connecting pipe.
- the exhaust gas flowing in the connecting pipe will be confronted with a perpendicular fluid screen, and will let pass only a reduced amount of said gas.
- the fluid is in the gaseous state.
- the fluid is constituted by exhaust gases. In this way, the gases of the circuit will not denature the gases of the pipe, since they are identical.
- a regulating device makes it possible to adapt the flow rate and the pressure of the fluid.
- the communication zone between the pipe and the fluid circuit is represented by a cross-shaped connection, involving four rigid pipes.
- two successive pipes are perpendicular to each other.
- the flow directions of the fluid and the exhaust gas are perpendicular to each other, allowing the screen constituted by said fluid to be positioned in an optimized manner for its function of exhaust gas scavenger.
- the fluid circuit passing through the connecting pipe opens into the exhaust pipe of the engine.

- a device 1 for regulating the amount of gas to be taken from the exhaust duct 2 of a motor vehicle engine 4 to mix with the gases of the intake duct 3 of said engine 4 comprises an exhaust gas circuit 5 whose flow and pressure are controlled by a regulating device 6, for example a pump, and a coupling 7 enabling said gas circuit 5 to communicate with a pipe 8 connecting the pipe exhaust 2 to the intake duct 3 of the engine 4.
- the exhaust gas circuit 5 is a closed loop grafted onto the exhaust duct 2 of the motor vehicle. Once the engine 4 is started, exhaust gases circulate continuously in said pipe 8 and in said circuit 5.
- the connector 7 is constituted by four straight pipes 9, made of stainless steel and welded together. These welds are materialized by beads 10 of solder, ensuring the connection between the 9. Said pipes 9 are arranged in a cross, so that two successive pipes 9 are perpendicular to each other. Thus, two pipes 9 which are in the extension of one another are part of the gas circuit 5, while the other two pipes 9, also found in the extension of one another, are part of the connecting pipe 8. In this way, the exhaust gas circuit 5 and the connecting pipe 8 intersect by making a right angle between them. Once the gas circuit 5 has crossed the pipe 8, it extends to the exhaust pipe 2 of the engine 4.
- the operating mode of a regulating device 1 is as follows. Once the engine 4 is started, the exhaust gases of the circuit 5 perpendicularly cross the exhaust gases of the pipe 8, at the connection 7. In this way, the gases of said circuit 5 act as screen, taking with them a portion of the gas flowing in the pipe 8, and thus decreasing the amount of gas going to the intake duct 3 of the engine 4. The gases carried by the circuit 5 are reinjected into the duct d Exhaust 2 from the engine 4. The amount of gas reaching the intake duct 3 of the engine 4, via the pipe 8, is a function of the performance of the screen constituted by the gases of the circuit 5, in terms of flow rate and pressure.

Abstract
