Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a transponder label.
  • transponder label refers to any flat device (basically any type) of carrier and transponder arrangement.
  • self-adhesive labels thus also cards (so-called smart cards), flat pendants or badges and the like.
  • Transponder labels are often referred to as RFID tags, where RFID is used as a short form of Radio Frequency Identification (Radio Frequency Identification).
  • Transponder labels basically have a transponder arrangement with at least one memory chip and an antenna, the latter usually consisting essentially of one or more conductor loops, which may be etched from a conductive flat material, for example.
  • a transponder arrangement with at least one memory chip and an antenna, the latter usually consisting essentially of one or more conductor loops, which may be etched from a conductive flat material, for example.
  • data can be read into the memory chip without contact or read out by means of suitable read, write or write-on devices. Accordingly, there are transponder labels with read-only and read-write memories.
  • Transponder labels serve a variety of purposes, such as the identification or authentication of a human carrier, the monitoring of products during logistical processes, theft protection, document location and much more. Due to the non-contact data transmission option, in particular in security-relevant applications, such as for identification / authentication of a human carrier, there is the problem that data on transponder labels can be read out and / or changed without authorization prior to their first application. Thus, an unauthorized third party could unnoticed procure a copy of important access data, or change access data so that the legitimate user is denied a correct identification / authentication.
  • the known protection devices for transponder labels are only suitable for protection against unauthorized reading out or changing the data on transponder chips as soon as the user carries the transponder label to be protected. Abstract
