Oil sump, destined to be fixed by means of bolts to the lower wall of the engine-block housing of a combustion engine in such a way that the lubricating oil is stored and transported to the different engine parts to be lubricated via a suction line which is connected to an oil pump, the excess oil being returned directly into the oil sump, the oil sump consisting of a tray body (1) made of synthetic material and being closed at its upper part by a connecting plate (2) made of synthetic material, characterized in that the tray body (1) is formed by the assembly of two trays, namely a lower tray (10) in the shape of a container and an upper tray (11) which is welded onto it and receives the connecting plate (2), the lower wall of the lower tray (10) extending upwards through a series of tubular, parallel running columns (14) which feature at their upper end a protrusion (21), which forms a stop for the head (22) of the fixing bolt (3) of the oil sump on the engine-block housing and the connecting plate (2) being equipped on its two respective surfaces with a cast circumferential joint (8, 9) so that the tightness between the tray body (1) and the engine block is ensured.
  2. Oil sump according to claim 1, characterized in that the connecting plate (2) extends at its upper part through a tubular connecting piece (5) which is equipped at its free end with a filter net (6) and forms a segment of the suction line.
  3. Oil sump according to one of the above claims, characterized in that the upper tray (11) and the connecting plate (2) are provided with pairs of boreholes (17, 19; 18, 20) to receive the shank (24) of the fixing bolt (3).
  4. Oil sump according to one of the above claims, characterized in that the gaskets are integrated directly on the connecting plate (2).
