Definitions
- the present invention relates to an arrangement of a plurality of moistened non-woven cosmetic pads which are stacked in a largely evaporative sealable packaging container for dispensing to the end user, the pads having on average a moisture content of 300% to 500% of their dry weight.
- meltblown fiber layers in which the endless extruded fiber strands are stretched under hot air and deposited on each other in the unconsolidated state and thereby connected at the contact points, can be a structurally stable structure of a considered advantageous pore size of 20 to 60 microns reach where the liquid of the wet wipes can also be stored permanently.
- a structurally stable structure of a considered advantageous pore size of 20 to 60 microns reach where the liquid of the wet wipes can also be stored permanently.
- such a structure did not meet the requirements placed on moistened cosmetic pads.
- US 6,315,114 B1 also discloses a stacked arrangement of wet wipes in an evaporation retardant sealable packaging container, wherein the wipes are spunbond nonwovens, that is to say nonwovens of continuous fibers of a diameter of less than 18 ⁇ m. It is to be achieved in these relatively thin wet wipes of staple fibers in addition to a uniform moisture content improved tear strength and durability against fraying and the delivery of a minimum amount of liquid. For humidification, a stack-shaped arrangement as a whole is charged with an amount of liquid. These wipes would not meet the requirements of moist cosmetic pads.
- US Pat. No. 4,408,437 and the resulting US 4,649,695 relate to a manufacturing method and apparatus for conventional moistening of an endless tissue web, that is a wet-laid fibrous web structure, as used for wet wipes for personal care. Longitudinal sections are cut from this web and stacked in a packaging container. These documents are based on a state of the art, according to which structurally stable wet-laid tissue webs were guided endlessly through a liquid bath. Further information can not be found in these publications.
- US 2004/0245139 A1 relates to a stacked arrangement of wet wipes or wet pads in an evaporation retardant packaging container, which pads may comprise cotton or viscose fibers and optionally synthetic fibers 3-60 mm in length and PES microfibers. A batch humidification is performed.
- the present invention has for its object to provide an arrangement of nonwoven cosmetic pads of the type mentioned, which are characterized by a good fluid absorption behavior and a good permanent moisture or fluid retention capacity, wherein the achievement of a permanently uniform moistening of the pads within the stacked arrangement is desired.
- the arrangement of a plurality of moistened nonwoven-based cosmetic pads advantageously shows a difference between the average moisture content of the pads arranged in the upper and lower quarters of the stack of not more than 25%, in particular not more than 20%, more particularly not more than 15%, based on the mean moisture content of all the pads of the pile.
- the amount of liquid may advantageously comprise at least 320% of its dry weight, in particular at most 450%, more in particular at most 400% of the dry weight of a respective pad.
- statistical methods are used in the determination of the moisture content, in particular of a predetermined number of pads, in particular of all pads, the moisture content is determined and of which the mean value is formed.
- the inventive arrangement of the pads is distinguished from known arrangements with a considerable but not excessive moisture content as mentioned by the claimed moist distribution is maintained: it is not, as in some known pads, to an extreme accumulation of the liquid at the bottom of the Packaging container and associated with a proper soaking the bottom pads.
- the formation of the fiber structure from air-laid staple fibers and the individual moistening of the pads is of essential importance here, which is made responsible for the fact that the moisture content can be kept in the claimed area even four weeks after moistening.
- the pads have a basis weight of 40-350 g / m 2 , in particular from 60 to 250 g / m 2 , in particular from 100 to 200 g / m 2 and more particularly from 100 to 140 g / m 2 .
- They further advantageously have a thickness of 0.6-4.0 mm, in particular of 0.8-3.5 mm, in particular of 1.0-3.0 mm, and more particularly of 1.2-2, 5 mm, measured at a test pressure of 0.5 kPa.
- the pads according to the invention show a good moisture retention capacity, ie that under load (which is the case with the use of the pad, for example, when rubbing off the skin) the pad sufficiently, but moderately emits liquid.
- the cotton pads From the difference between the liquid dispensed in the centrifugation step (determined as the weight of the difference between the initial weight of the moistened pad determined before the centrifuging step and the weight of the pad after centrifuging) and the weight of the liquid used, it is possible to deduce the liquid remaining in the pad.
- the moisture retention capacity is expressed as a percentage of the weight of the liquid remaining in the pad, based on the weight of the liquid used.
- the cotton pads have a moisture retention capacity of at least 80%, preferably at least 83%, more preferably at least 85% and at most 98%, preferably at most 95%, most preferably at most 93%.
- staple fibers have a length of 3 to 60 mm proven.
- Staple fibers are understood to be fibers of limited length, which may be man-made fibers, ie fibers made industrially from natural or synthetic polymers, and natural fibers. If man-made fibers are additionally used as staple fibers, then, in an advantageous embodiment, they can also have lengths of 15 to 40 mm, in particular 15 to 25 mm.
- the length of natural staple fibers, such as cotton fibers are advantageously 9-15 mm, in particular about 12 mm.
- Micro staple fibers may advantageously be polyester (PES) fibers or viscose fibers (although viscose fibers are made of natural cellulose molecules, they are synthetically processed to form fibers).
- PET polyester
- viscose fibers are made of natural cellulose molecules, they are synthetically processed to form fibers.
- micro staple fibers When micro staple fibers are used, they are advantageously hydrophilized on their surface in order to provide good liquid uptake capability.
- the proportion of microstack fibers is advantageously 20 to 30 wt .-% within the fiber structure.
- the indication of the weight fractions of the fibers is always based on the not yet moistened fiber structure to understand.
- the fiber structure contains up to 72% by weight, in particular 15 to 65% by weight and more particularly 50 to 65% by weight, of cotton fibers. These are preferably cotton noils.
- the fiber structure of the pads additionally comprises heat-fusible binding fibers, likewise as staple fibers, in particular in a weight percentage of 10 to 20 wt .-%, in particular from 10 to 18 wt .-% and more particularly from 10 to 15% by weight.
- binder fibers may advantageously be multicomponent fibers, in particular bicomponent fibers, in particular a sheath / core arrangement of the two components.
- multicomponent fibers advantageously have a fiber thickness of 1.3-10 dtex, in particular of 1.3-3.0 dtex, and a fiber length of 3-60 mm, in particular 40-60 mm.
- Preferred bicomponent fibers may be polyester (PES) / copolyester (CO-PES) bicomponent fibers.
- thermofusible binding fibers or the low melting component of the multicomponent fibers as bonding fibers is lower than the melting point of additionally used staple fibers or micro staple fibers.
- a preferred composition of the fibrous structure of a pad to form the inventive assembly comprises from 20 to 30% by weight of micro staple fibers, from 9 to 17% by weight binder fibers, and from 58 to 66% by weight cotton fibers.
- the pads which are fibrous nonwoven structures, can be water jet needled for solidification, which in particular can capture only near-surface areas of the fiber structure or can also mean a continuous needling of the pads.
