Claims (29)

  1. A packaging and applicator device for a makeup composition (P), the device comprising:
    - a receptacle suitable for containing the composition for application; and
    - an applicator (1) for applying the composition (P), in particular to the eyelid, the applicator comprising:
    - a handle (2) of elongate shape, having a longitudinal axis (X); and
    - a rotary applicator member (5) movable relative to the handle (2) about an axis of rotation (Y) that does not coincide with the longitudinal axis (X), the applicator member defining an applicator surface (6) that is for loading with composition (P) for application on a region to be made up,
    the device being characterized by the fact that the recipient and the applicator are separate during application
    and by the fact that
    - the axis of rotation (Y) is inclined relative to the longitudinal axis (X) and is not perpendicular thereto; and/or
    - the applicator member (5) is offset laterally relative to the handle (2) in such a manner that the proximal side (4) of the applicator surface (6) defined as being the side thereof that is directed towards the proximal end of the handle, is frees
  2. A device according to the preceding claim, in which the axis of rotation (Y) is inclined relative to the longitudinal axis (X) by a non-zero angle (α) that is strictly less than 90°.
  3. A device according to any preceding claim, in which the applicator member (5) is offset laterally relative to the handle (2) in such a manner that the proximal side (4) of the applicator surface (6), defined as being the side thereof that is directed towards the proximal end of the handle, is free.
  4. A device according to the preceding claim, in which the applicator surface (6) is offset from the longitudinal axis (X) by a distance (d) that is greater than 2 mm, better greater than 4 mm, better still greater than 6 mm.
  5. A device according to any preceding claim, in which the applicator surface (6) presents a width that is constant.
  6. A device according to any one of claims 1 to 5, in which the applicator surface (6) presents a width that varies.
  7. A device according to any preceding claim, in which the applicator surface (6) is circumferentially continuous.
  8. A device according to any preceding claim, in which the applicator surface (6) of the applicator member comprises a plurality of disjoint regions (6a, 6b).
  9. A device according to any preceding claim, in which the applicator member (5) is connected to the handle (2) via a pivot (8, 10) disposed entirely on one side of the applicator surface (6).
  10. A device according to the preceding claim, in which the pivot (8, 10) comprises a hub (8) and a housing (10) in which the hub (8) is received.
  11. A device according to the preceding claim, in which the applicator member (5) comprises the housing (10) and the handle (2) comprises the hub (8)
  12. A device according to claim 11 or claim 12, in which the housing (10) is a through housing.
  13. A device according to any one of claims 11 to 13, the hub being snap-fastened into the housing.
  14. A device according to any preceding claim, in which the applicator surface (6) is defined by a removable part (41).
  15. A device according to any preceding claim, in which the longitudinal axis (X) is rectilinear.
  16. A device according to any preceding claim, in which the applicator member (5) includes at least one reference mark (33), in particular on its front face
  17. A device according to any preceding claim, in which the composition is an eyeliner.
  18. A device according to any preceding claim, the receptacle comprising a sleeve (22) of a porous material.
  19. A device according to the preceding claim, the sleeve (22) being formed by an elastically-compressible foam having open cells.
  20. A device according to claim 18 or claim 19, the sleeve presenting an inside diameter that is small enough to enable the applicator member to come into contact with the radially-inside surface of the sleeve during storage and/or during extraction of the applicator from the receptacle, in particular in order to enable it to rotate.
  21. A device according to any one of claims 18 to 20, the applicator being arranged to close the receptacle in leaktight manner while not in use.
  22. A device according to claim 1, the applicator member(5) being carried by a stem (107) whose upper portion (109) is off centered relative to the receptacle.
  23. A device according to any preceding claim, comprising a case housing a supply (22) of composition P.
  24. A device according to any preceding claim, the supply (22) of composition being a cake of composition, e.g. a compacted powder or a casting, or a porous substrate impregnated with the composition P as the latter is fluid.
  25. A device according to claim 23 or claim 24, the case (20) further including a mirror (25).
  26. A device according to any one of claims 23 to 25, including several different compositions
  27. A device according to any one of claims 23 to 26, the case including a housing for the applicator, and where appropriate, one or more housings for different applicator members or for component parts of the applicator member enabling different traces to be made.
  28. A device according to any preceding claim, the applicator member being made at least in part out of porous material, e.g. a thermoplastic foam, an elastomer foam, or possibly a thermoplastic elastomer foam.
  29. A device according to any preceding claim, the applicator surface (6) being flocked.
