- the length of the outer arm portion of the first screen is at least 100.5%, but at most 104.0% of the length of the outer arm portion of the second screen.
- the length of the inner arm portion of the first screen is at least 96%, but not more than 98% of the length of the inner arm portion of the second screen. In this way, for example, an increase in the linkage can be compensated by extending the support rod.
- the membrane of the screens in the clamped state on a polygonal, in particular a rectangular, preferably a square outer contour.
- the membrane of the umbrellas have a 4-fold symmetrical outer contour
- the screens each have 4 diagonal arms in the 4 diagonal directions and 4 center arms in the offset by 45 ° to the directions of the center of the membrane, the lengths of the diagonal arms are chosen so that when overlapping adjacent umbrellas in the edge region of the Membrane the ends of the diagonal arms of diagonally opposite screens do not touch.
- the 4-fold symmetrical outer contour of the screens is particularly suitable for rectangular shields.
- a passive arm is articulated on the outer arm sections to the left and right in each case, which extends at an angle from the outer arm section to the edge region of the membrane when the shield is opened.
- the edge length of the membrane can be shortened and an approximately square contour of the membrane edge can be realized.
- This makes it possible to increase the distance of the masts of adjacent screens with overlapping membranes from those of shields without passive arms, so that the shield according to the invention can cover a larger area.
- the embodiment of the invention has a greater overlap than a comparable shield without passive arms.
- a special embodiment provides that at least some of the screens are rotatable about a vertical axis of rotation extending through the mast. These rotatable screens can be used with appropriate shaping of the membrane for the purpose of ventilation.
- the umbrella arms can be part of the ventilation device. Thus, both the ventilation and the shadow can be effected by the screens according to the invention.

- the inner arm portions 4 are hinged to the masts 3 of the respective screen 1, 2.
- the outer arm sections 5, 5' in the articulation points F, F ' are articulated radially outwardly away from the masts 3, 3'.
- the outer arm portions 5, 5 ' are each pivotally connected to a support rod 6, 6 ' of lengths c1, c2 , which are attached to articulation points C, C 'of the masts 3, 3'.
- the length c1 of the support rod of the first screen 1 is smaller than the length c2 of the support rod of the second screen 2.
- the distance d1 of the Anchor point C of the first screen to the common ground level 8 is greater than the corresponding distance d2 of the Anlenkddlings C 'of the second screen 2.
- the lengths a1, a2, b1, b2, c1, c2, d1, d2 are coordinated so that the distances f1, f2 of the arm tips in the closed state of the common ground level 8 are approximately equal, so that the viewer closed state of the two umbrellas 1, 2 gives the impression that it is two identical umbrellas.
- FIGS. 2a, 2b represents only a very specific example. There are many possibilities for matching the lengths of the individual components of the linkage. However, it is not necessary to provide different lengths of corresponding elements for the two screens 1, 2 differently (as in the example of Fig. 2a, 2b). It is only decisive that always at least two mutually corresponding lengths of the two screens 1, 2 differ from each other and their relationship to one another in the above-mentioned areas. The exact ratios of the lengths of corresponding components depends inter alia on the desired height offset of the arm tips G, G 'in the open state of the screens 1, 2 and on the distance of the screens 1, 2 to each other and can be calculated with the aid of simulation software.
- the specified ratios of the lengths of the different components of adjacent screens apply to both central arms 11, 11 ' and for the diagonal arms 9, 9'.
- the aspect ratios of the individual sections of the diagonal arms and the center arms may differ within the ranges indicated.
- Fig. 3 shows a plan view of a shield according to the invention with four screens in the open state.
- the shield according to the invention comprises in each case two first screens 1 and two second screens 2.
- the membranes 10, 10 'of the screens 1, 2 have an almost square outer contour, so that a rectangular shielding can be realized easily. This is made possible, in particular, by additional passive arms 12, 12 ' which are articulated on the diagonal arms 9, 9' and center arms 11, 11 'on the left and on the right and on opening the screens 1, 2 at an angle from the outer arm portion to the edge area of the Membrane 10, 10 'extends. As a result, a reduction of the edge length of the membrane 10, 10 'and thus a minimization of the diaphragm support values is achieved.
- the first screens 1 are respectively arranged adjacent to two second screens 2, so that the first screens 1 are diagonally opposite each other and almost touching the arm tips of arm portions facing each other.
- the membrane 10 of the first screens overlap the membrane 10 'of the second screens in the edge region.
- a shield is formed, which has only a small star-shaped slot 13 at the corners of the diagonal arms and, despite a uniform visual appearance in the closed state ensures optimized protection against sun and rain.

The object of the invention is in contrast to propose a shield, the screens have a uniform appearance in the closed state and ensure a large rain tightness in the open state.
The fact that the distances of the arm tips of the adjacent screens from a common floor level in the closed state differ by a maximum of 2% creates the impression that they are two identical umbrellas, which is perceived as aesthetically pleasing. At the same time it is ensured in the shield according to the invention that in the open state, the membrane of adjacent umbrellas overlap each other to ensure the greatest possible protection against sunlight and rain. The edges of the membrane of adjacent screens are thus in the open state in different horizontal planes (height levels). This requires a different construction of the linkage of adjacent screens. Here, a plurality of embodiments is conceivable, in which, however, always at least two of the above-mentioned elements for adjacent screens differ, so that the ratios of the lengths of mutually corresponding elements of adjacent screens are in said areas. The inventive shortening or lengthening of the elements of the second screen with respect to those of the first screen amount to less than or equal to a few percent, but are crucial to realize an overlap of the membrane of adjacent screens in the open state with a uniform appearance of the screens in the closed state.
Existing systems can easily be retrofitted by equipping each second screen of the existing system with appropriately dimensioned arm sections and support posts.
In a preferred embodiment, the length of the support bar of the first screen is less than the length of the support bar of the second screen. The pivot point of the support bar of the first screen on the mast is then higher than that of the second screen to ensure an overlap of the membrane.
Preferably, the mast height from the ground level to the point of articulation of the support bar of the first screen is at least 102.5%, but not more than 104.5% of the mast height from the ground level to the point of articulation of the support bar of the second screen.
In a further specific embodiment of the shield according to the invention, the length of the outer arm portion of the first screen is at least 100.5%, but at most 104.0% of the length of the outer arm portion of the second screen.
In addition, it may be advantageous if the length of the inner arm portion of the first screen is at least 96%, but not more than 98% of the length of the inner arm portion of the second screen. In this way, for example, an increase in the linkage can be compensated by extending the support rod.
In a preferred embodiment of the shield according to the invention, the membrane of the screens in the clamped state on a polygonal, in particular a rectangular, preferably a square outer contour.
This is particularly advantageous when the membrane of the umbrellas have a 4-fold symmetrical outer contour, and the screens each have 4 diagonal arms in the 4 diagonal directions and 4 center arms in the offset by 45 ° to the directions of the center of the membrane, the lengths of the diagonal arms are chosen so that when overlapping adjacent umbrellas in the edge region of the Membrane the ends of the diagonal arms of diagonally opposite screens do not touch. In this way, on the one hand, a large-area overlap can be realized, on the other hand it is possible to construct a shield with a plurality of overlapping umbrellas, wherein only umbrellas with two different height levels of the membrane are needed. The 4-fold symmetrical outer contour of the screens is particularly suitable for rectangular shields.
In a particularly preferred embodiment of the shielding according to the invention, a passive arm is articulated on the outer arm sections to the left and right in each case, which extends at an angle from the outer arm section to the edge region of the membrane when the shield is opened. In this way, the edge length of the membrane can be shortened and an approximately square contour of the membrane edge can be realized. This in turn makes it possible to increase the distance of the masts of adjacent screens with overlapping membranes from those of shields without passive arms, so that the shield according to the invention can cover a larger area. At the same distance of the screen masts, the embodiment of the invention has a greater overlap than a comparable shield without passive arms.
A special embodiment provides that at least some of the screens are rotatable about a vertical axis of rotation extending through the mast. These rotatable screens can be used with appropriate shaping of the membrane for the purpose of ventilation. The umbrella arms can be part of the ventilation device. Thus, both the ventilation and the shadow can be effected by the screens according to the invention.
In a preferred embodiment, the linkage drive comprises a telescopic linear drive running in the mast, which is preferably spindle-driven or hydraulically moved.
In a specific embodiment, lighting elements and / or loudspeakers and / or climate-influencing devices are provided on the mast at a distance from the ground, which devices are preferably each mounted at a certain same height above the common ground level. As a result, a lighting and / or sound of the covered space can be realized in a visually appealing form.
Further advantages of the invention will become apparent from the description and the drawings. Likewise, the features mentioned above and those listed further can be used individually or in any combination. The embodiments shown and described are not to be understood as exhaustive enumeration, but rather have exemplary character for the description of the invention.

The

In the shielding according to the invention, the lengths a1, a2, b1, b2, c1, c2, d1, d2 are coordinated so that the distances f1, f2 of the arm tips in the closed state of the
The embodiment shown in FIGS. 2a, 2b represents only a very specific example. There are many possibilities for matching the lengths of the individual components of the linkage. However, it is not necessary to provide different lengths of corresponding elements for the two
The specified ratios of the lengths of the different components of adjacent screens apply to both
