Abstract
Cover (1) for helmet (2) of the type which covers said helmet totally and which is provided with means for closing the cover (1) comprising three layers of fabric.
Description
- The present invention refers to a cover for a helmet, especially designed for motorcycle helmets but equally valid for any type of helmet. The cover concerned in the invention protects the helmet when it is not in use.
- Covers for helmets are known, particularly those made of textile material
- One of these is described in the patent with publication number
EP1256285 in which the helmet cover is characterised by an elastic band which permits adjustment of the helmet cover. - Another known type of cover is that described in Utility Model 104081. The purpose of this cover is basically decorative, or for protection when the user is using the helmet.
- Neither of the two aforementioned covers is an effective cover when it is not used, as it does not completely cover the helmet and leaves the part of the helmet which enters into direct contact with the head uncovered. In addition the aforementioned covers do not protect the helmet from blows and scratches.
- The problem resolved by means of the present invention is that of providing a motorcycle helmet which will protect it from possible blows and which will also be waterproof so that when the helmet is not in use it will be perfectly protected.
- The solution on which the present invention is based is that of having identified a cover structure which avoids deterioration of the helmet as a result of blows and external agents.
- In accordance with an initial aspect of the invention the helmet cover totally protects the helmet and is provided with a means for closure in order to isolate the inside of the helmet, the cover comprises three layers of fabric, the central layer has a vertical warp between the outer layers.
- This intermediate layer, since it has a vertical warp between the outer layers, is better able to withstand the effects of possible blows received by the helmet inside the cover.
- The invention also refers to a cover provided with at least two openings for the passage of an anti-theft padlock when the helmet is inside the cover.
- The external layer of the cover may be covered by a waterproof material in order to protect the cover from external agents.
- The present descriptive report is complemented with a set of drawings which illustrate a preferred example but which are in no way restrictive of the invention
- Figure 1 shows a cross section of the helmet in the invention in the interior of the cover with the anti-theft padlock.
- A preferred embodiment of the invention consists of a cover (1) for a helmet (2) comprising textile material in three layers, the outer layer being made from polyamide and the intermediate and internal layers from polyester. The polyamide fabric avoids scratching of the helmet. (2). At least the external face of the cover (1) is covered with a waterproofing agent.
- In different examples of the embodiment the closure of the cover (1) may be made by means of a tape placed in the outline of said cover which is drawn in order to close or using an ordinary zip. When the invention is provided with a zip this may be covered on the inside by a tongue in order to ensure that the zip does not rub against the helmet (2).
- A preferred embodiment of the cover (1) in the invention has two openings (3) for the passage of an antitheft padlock (4).
- The cover (1) in the invention may have washers (5) preferably in plastic material, neoprene or rubber, round the openings (3), in order to waterproof the inside.
- The openings (3) may have the form of an eyelet with a reinforcement at the back or round said eyelet in order to avoid any possible tearing of the fabric and also to waterproof the whole.
- In the event that the closure of the cover (1) is by means of a zip, the end of the cursor of said zip shall be provided with a ring through which it is also possible to pass the anti-theft padlock (4) then this anti-theft device (4) passes through the two openings for passage (3) and through the ring of the zip.
- In a final example of the embodiment of the cover (1) it may be provided with tabs for the passage of a tape which enables the helmet (2) to be transported hanging.
- The essential nature of this invention is in no way modified by variations in materials, form, size and arrangement of the component elements which are distributed in a non-restrictive manner, this being sufficient for an expert in the art to reproduce it.
