  • FIELD OF INVENTION
  • The present invention relates generally to a helmet carrying system and method and, more particularly, to a motorcycle helmet carrying system and method.
  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • Motorcycle helmets are expensive; and custom motorcycle helmets are really expensive. Even if a motorcyclist locks his/her helmet on the back seat of his/her motorcycle, his/her motorcycle helmet is still not safe from thieves or the elements.
  • Other helmets such as bicycle, recreation, safety, and any other sports helmets can also be expensive.
  • Thus, a helmet carrying system is needed.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • In an embodiment, a helmet carrying system comprises: a helmet carrying strap assembly comprising: a first spool assembly having a first cord, adapted to be attached to a helmet; a second spool assembly having a second cord, adapted to be attached to the helmet; and a band assembly having a first end and a second end. In an embodiment, the first retractable cord is connected to a first fastener assembly, wherein the first fastener assembly is connected to a first ring and wherein the first ring is connected to the first end of the band assembly. In an embodiment, the second retractable cord is connected to a second fastener assembly, wherein the second fastener assembly is connected to a second ring and wherein the second ring is connected to the second end of the band assembly.
  • In an embodiment, the first spool assembly and the second spool assembly are a cylindrical shape from about 1 inch to about 2 inches in diameter and from about 0.20 inches to about 0.30 inches thick. In an embodiment, the first spool assembly and the second spool assembly are a wafer shape from about 1×1 inch to about 2×2 inches and from about 0.20 inches to about 0.30 inches thick. In an embodiment, the first spool assembly and the second spool assembly are locking-type spool assemblies.
  • In an embodiment, the first cord and the second cord are made of a plastic-coated wire, a metal wire and any combination thereof. In an embodiment, the first cord and the second cord are made of a plastic-coated steel wire or a steel wire. In an embodiment, the first cord and the second cord have a length from about 12 inches to about 24 inches. In an embodiment, the first cord and the second cord have a length from about 17 inches to about 18 inches.
  • In an embodiment, the first fastener assembly and the second fastener assembly are selected from the group consisting of a ball assembly, a clip assembly, a clip-clamp assembly, a wire-loop assembly, and combinations thereof.
  • In an embodiment, the first ring and the second ring are selected from the group consisting of D-rings, and any variation thereof. In an embodiment, the first ring and the second ring are crimped rings, split rings or any variation thereof. In an embodiment, the first ring and the second ring are made of metal, plastic, and combinations thereof.
  • In an embodiment, the first fastener assembly and first ring and the second fastener assembly and second ring are a combined hook and ball assembly.
  • In an embodiment, the band assembly is a rectangle with a finished length from about 4 inches to about 16 inches and a width from about 0.5 inches to about 1.5 inches. In an embodiment, the band assembly has an adjustable finished length from about 4 inches to about 16 inches. In an embodiment, the band assembly is made of fabric, leather, rubber, plastic, and combinations thereof.
  • In an embodiment, the first ring is connected to the first end of the band assembly using adhesives, fasteners, staples, stitching, and combinations thereof and wherein the second ring is connected to the second end of the band assembly using adhesives, fasteners, staples, stitching, and combinations thereof.
  • In an embodiment, the first ring is connected to the first end of the band assembly using a buckle, a grommet, a rivet, and combinations thereof and wherein the second ring is connected to the second end of the band assembly using a grommet, a rivet, and combinations thereof.
  • In an embodiment, the first spool assembly and the second spool assembly are adapted to be attached to the helmet using adhesives, fasteners, and combinations thereof. In an embodiment, the first spool assembly and the second spool assembly are adapted to be attached to the helmet using a hook and loop-type fastener with an adhesive.
  • In an embodiment, the helmet is selected from the group consisting of full-face helmets, half-helmets, off-road/motocross helmets, open-face helmets, modular helmets and any variation thereof. Although in other embodiments, the helmet carrying system may be adapted to work with any other type of helmet (e.g., bicycle, recreation, safety, and any other sports helmets).
  • In an embodiment, a method of making a helmet carrying system comprises: providing a first helmet carrying strap assembly having a first spool assembly and a second spool assembly; fastening the first spool assembly to a front, lower, first-side portion of a helmet; and fastening the second spool assembly to a rear, lower, first-side portion of the helmet. In an embodiment, the method further comprises: folding out a first-side portion of a liner of the helmet to fasten the first spool assembly and the second spool assembly to an inner surface of the helmet before fastening the first or second spool assemblies. In an embodiment, the method further comprises: installing an optional cover over an opening of the helmet.
  • In an embodiment, the method of making the helmet carrying system further comprises: providing a second helmet carrying strap assembly having a third spool assembly and a fourth spool assembly; fastening the third spool assembly to a front, lower, second-side portion of the helmet; and fastening the fourth spool assembly to a rear, lower, second-side portion of the helmet. In an embodiment, the first step further comprises: folding out a second-side portion of a liner of the helmet to fasten the third spool assembly and the fourth spool assembly to an inner surface of the helmet. In an embodiment, the method further comprises: installing an optional cover assembly over an opening of the helmet.
  • In an embodiment, a method of using a helmet carrying system comprises: extending a first helmet carrying strap for hand- or shoulder-carry; and using the extended first helmet carrying strap to hand- or shoulder-carry a helmet. In an embodiment, the method further comprises: tucking the first helmet carrying strap assembly inside the helmet for helmet wear. In an embodiment, the method further comprises: fastening a cover assembly over an opening of the helmet to secure personal items inside the helmet.
  • In an embodiment, the method of using a helmet carrying system further comprises: extending a second helmet carrying strap for hand- or shoulder-carry; and using the extended second helmet carrying strap to hand- or shoulder-carry the helmet. In an embodiment, the method further comprises: tucking the first helmet carrying strap assembly inside the helmet for helmet wear. In an embodiment, the method further comprises: fastening a cover assembly over an opening of the helmet to secure personal items inside the helmet.

  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF EMBODIMENTS OF THE INVENTION

  • A Motorcycle Helmet Carrying System
  • FIGS. 1A, 2A-2B and 3 show a motorcycle helmet carrying strap assembly according to embodiments of the present invention. The motorcycle helmet carrying strap assembly 100, 200, 300 comprises a spool assembly 110, 210, 310 having a cord 120, 220, 320, a fastener assembly 130, 230, 330 connected to one end of the cord 120, 220, 320, a ring 140, 240, 340 connected to the fastener assembly 130, 230, 330 and to one end of a band assembly 150, 250, 350.
  • In an embodiment, the spool assembly 110, 210, 310 may be any suitable spool assembly. For example, suitable spool assemblies include, but are not limited to, a retractable badge reel-type spool assembly. In an embodiment, the spool assembly 110, 210, 310 may be a locking-type spool assembly (e.g., cord length locks at desired positions) or a non-locking-type assembly.
  • In an embodiment, the spool assembly 110, 210, 310 may be any suitable shape or size. For example, the spool assembly 110, 210, 310 may be a cylinder or a wafer shape. In an embodiment, the spool assembly 110, 210, 310 may be a cylinder shape from about 1 inch to about 2 inches in diameter (and any range or value there between), and from about 0.20 inches to about 0.30 inches thick (and any range or value there between). In an embodiment, the spool assembly 110, 210, 310 is about 1.25 inches in diameter and about 0.25 inches thick. In an embodiment, the spool assembly may be a wafer shape from about 1×1 inch to about 2×2 inches (and any range or value there between), and from about 0.2 inches to about 0.30 inches thick.
  • In an embodiment, the cord 120, 220, 320 may be any suitable cord material. For example, suitable cord materials include, but are not limited to, plastic-coated metal wire, metal wire, and any combination thereof. In an embodiment, the cord 120, 220, 320 may be a plastic-coated steel wire or a steel wire.
  • In an embodiment, the cord 120, 220, 320 may be any suitable length. For example, the cord 120, 220, 320 may have a length from about 12 inches to about 24 inches (and any range or value there between). In an embodiment, the cord 120, 220, 320 may have a length of about 17 to 18 inches.
  • In an embodiment, the fastener assembly 130, 230, 330 may any suitable fastener to connect to one end of the cord 120, 220, 320. For example, a suitable fastener assembly includes, but is not limited to a ball assembly, a clip assembly, a clip-clamp assembly, a wire-loop assembly, and combinations thereof. In an embodiment, the fastener assembly 130, 230, 330 may be a ball assembly. In an embodiment, the fastener assembly 130, 230, 330 may be a clip assembly or a clip-clamp assembly.
  • In an embodiment, the ring 140,240, 340 may any suitable type of ring to connect one end of the cord 120, 220, 320 to one end of the band strap assembly 150, 250, 350. For example, suitable types of rings include, but are not limited to, a crimped ring, a split ring and any variation thereof. In an embodiment, the ring 140, 240, 340 may be a crimped ring or split ring.
  • In an embodiment, the ring 140, 240, 340 may be any suitable shape to connect one end of the cord 120, 220, 320 to one end of the band strap assembly 150, 250, 350. For example, suitable shapes, include, but are not limited to, D-rings, and any variation thereof. In an embodiment, the ring 140, 240, 340 may be a D-ring, or a variation thereof.
  • In an embodiment, the ring may be any suitable material to connect one end of the cord 120, 220, 320 to one end of the band strap assembly 150, 250, 350. For example, suitable materials include, but are not limited to, metal rings, plastic rings, and combinations thereof. In an embodiment, the ring 150, 250, 350 may be an aluminum ring, a stainless steel ring or a chrome-plated ring.
  • In an embodiment, the fastener assembly 130, 230, 330 and the ring 140, 240, 340 may be a combined ball and hook assembly.
  • In an embodiment the band assembly 150, 250, 350 may be any suitable shape or size. For example, the band assembly 150, 250, 350 may be an ovoid, a rectangle or any variation thereof. In an embodiment, the band assembly is a rectangle with an unfinished length from about 6 inches long to about 18 inches (and any range or value there between), and a width from about 0.5 inches to about 1.5 inches wide (and any range or value there between). In an embodiment, the band assembly 150, 250, 350 is a rectangle with an unfinished length of about 7.5 inches and a width of about 0.75 inches wide, or an unfinished length of about 9 inches and a width of about 0.5 inch. In an embodiment, the band assembly 150, 250, 350 has a finished length of about 5.5 inches or about 7 inches.
  • In an embodiment, the band assembly 150, 250, 350 may have an adjustable finished length. For example, when the band assembly 150, 250, 350, is fastened to the ring using a buckle, the band assembly 150, 250, 350 may have an adjustable finished length from about 4 inches to about 16 inches (and any range or value there between).
  • In an embodiment, the band assembly 150, 250, 350 may have any customized shape to accommodate the ring 140, 240, 340. In an embodiment, the band assembly 150, 250, 350 may have tapered ends or tucks to fit through the ring 140, 240, 340. In an embodiment, the band assembly 150, 250, 350 may have notches cut at a fold to more easily accommodate the ring 140, 240, 340 for thicker band materials. In an embodiment, the band assembly 150, 250, 350 has tapered ends and notches cut at the fold to accommodate the ring 140, 240, 340.
  • In an embodiment, the band assembly 150, 250, 350 may be fastened to the ring 140, 240, 350 using any suitable fastening method. For example, suitable fastening methods include, but are not limited to, adhesive, fasteners, staples, stitching, and combinations thereof. In an embodiment, the band assembly 150, 250, 350 may be fastened to the ring 140, 240, 340 using a buckle, a grommet or a rivet. In an embodiment, the band assembly 150, 250, 350 may be fastened to the ring 150, 250, 350 using a hook and loop-type fastener (e.g., Velcro® tape) with stitching.
  • In an embodiment, the band assembly 150, 250, 350 may be any suitable material. For example, suitable materials include, but are not limited to, fabric, leather, rubber, plastic, and combinations thereof. In an embodiment, the band assembly 150, 250, 350 may be fabric or leather.
  • In an embodiment, the motorcycle helmet carrying strap assembly 100, 200, 300 is adapted to be fastened to a motorcycle helmet.
  • In an embodiment, the motorcycle helmet carrying strap assembly 100, 200, 300 may be fastened to the motorcycle helmet (not shown) using any suitable fastening method. For example, suitable fastening methods include, but are not limited to, adhesives, fasteners, and combinations thereof. In an embodiment, the motorcycle helmet carrying strap assembly 100, 200, 300 may be fastened to the motorcycle helmet using a hook and loop-type fastener (e.g., Velcro® tape) with an adhesive.
  • In an embodiment, the motorcycle helmet may be any suitable helmet.   • Method of Making A Motorcycle Helmet Carrying System
  • FIG. 4 shows a method of making a motorcycle helmet carrying system according to an embodiment of the present invention.
  • In an embodiment, a method of making a motorcycle helmet carrying system 400 comprises: providing a first motorcycle helmet carrying strap assembly having a first spool assembly and a second spool assembly 410; fastening the first spool assembly to a front, lower, first-side portion (e.g., right side) of a motorcycle helmet 420; and fastening the second spool assembly to a rear, lower first side portion (e.g., right side) of the motorcycle helmet 430.
  • FIG. 5A shows a photograph of a motorcycle helmet carry strap assembly to be installed in a motorcycle helmet. As shown in FIG. 5A, the motorcycle helmet carrying strap assembly 500 comprises a spool assembly 510′, 510″ having a cord 520′, 520″, a fastener assembly 530′, 530″ connected to one end of the cord 520′, 520″, a ring 540′, 540″ connected to the fastener assembly 530′, 530″ and to one end of a band assembly 550; and the motorcycle helmet 590 comprises a shell 592 and a liner 594′, 594″.
  • In an embodiment, the first spool assembly 510′ and the second spool assembly 510″ may be fastened to an inside or an outside surface of the motorcycle helmet 590.
  • In an embodiment, the method of making the motorcycle helmet carrying system further comprises: folding-out a first-side portion (e.g., right side) of a liner of the motorcycle helmet to fasten the first spool assembly and the second spool assembly to an inner surface of the motorcycle helmet 430.

  • In an embodiment, the method of making a motorcycle helmet carrying system 400 further comprises: providing a second motorcycle helmet carrying strap assembly having a third spool assembly and a fourth spool assembly 450; fastening the third spool assembly to a front, lower, second-side portion (e.g., left side) of the motorcycle helmet 460; and fastening the fourth spool assembly to a rear, lower, second-side portion (e.g., left side) of the motorcycle helmet 470.
  • In an embodiment, the third spool assembly and the fourth spool assembly may be fastened to an inside or an outside surface of the motorcycle helmet 590.
  • In an embodiment, the method of making the motorcycle helmet carrying system further comprises: folding a second-side portion (e.g., left side) of a liner of the motorcycle helmet to fasten the third spool assembly and the fourth spool assembly to an inner surface of the motorcycle helmet 480.
  • In an embodiment, the method of making the motorcycle helmet carrying system further comprises installing an optional cover assembly over an opening of a motorcycle helmet 490.
  • FIG. 9 shows an inside view of the motorcycle helmet carrying system with an optional cover assembly 998 installed over an opening 996 of a motorcycle helmet 990.
  • In an embodiment, the optional cover assembly 998 comprises a cover 998-10 and a fastener assembly 998-20, wherein the cover 998-10 is connected to the fastener assembly 998-20.
  • In an embodiment, the cover 998-10 may be any suitable cover. For example, suitable covers include, but are not limited to, fabric, mesh, plastic, leather, and combinations thereof. In an embodiment, the cover 998-10 may be a mesh.
  • In an embodiment, the cover 998-10 may be any suitable shape to cover an opening of a motorcycle helmet. For example, suitable shapes include but are not limited to, circular, elliptical, ovoid, and combinations thereof. In an embodiment, the cover 998-10 may be ovoid.
  • In an embodiment, the cover 998-10 may have an optional access pocket. In an embodiment, the access pocket may be formed by overlapping a first portion of the cover with a second portion of the cover.
  • In an embodiment, the cover 998-10 may have a cover opening that may be closed with any suitable fastening method. For example, suitable fastening methods include, but are not limited to, fasteners, and combinations thereof. In an embodiment, the cover opening may be closed using buttons, laces, snaps, zippers, and any combination thereof. In an embodiment, the cover opening may be closed using a hook and loop-type fasteners with an adhesive and/or stitching.
  • In an embodiment the fastener assembly 998-20 may be any suitable fastener to connect the cover to the motorcycle helmet using any suitable removable fastening method. For example suitable removable fastening methods include, but are not limited to, fasteners, and combinations thereof. In an embodiment, the cover 998-10 may be fastened to the motorcycle helmet 990 using hooks, snaps, and combinations thereof. In an embodiment, the cover 998-10 may be fastened to the motorcycle helmet 990 using a hook and loop-type fastener (e.g., Velcro® tape) with an adhesive.
  • In an embodiment, the cover assembly 998 may be fastened to an inside or an outside surface of the motorcycle helmet.
  • In an embodiment, the motorcycle helmet may be any suitable helmet. For example, suitable helmets include, but are not limited to, full-face helmets (see FIGS. 5A-5E, & 7-9), half-helmets (aka skull-cap helmets), off-road/motocross helmets, open-face helmets (aka ¾ helmets), modular helmets, and any variations thereof.
  • Method of Using A Motorcycle Helmet Carrying System
  • FIG. 6 shows a method of using a motorcycle helmet carrying system according to an embodiment of the present invention.
  • In an embodiment, a method of using a motorcycle helmet carrying system 600 comprises extending a first motorcycle helmet carrying strap for hand- or shoulder-carry 610 and using the extended first motorcycle helmet carrying strap to hand- or shoulder-carry a motorcycle helmet 620.
  • In an embodiment, the method of using a motorcycle helmet carrying system 600 further comprises extending a second motorcycle helmet carrying strap for hand- or shoulder-carry 630 and using the extended second motorcycle helmet carrying strap to hand- or shoulder-carry a motorcycle helmet 640.
  • FIG. 7A shows a photograph of a side view of a motorcycle helmet carrying system 700, showing a first motorcycle helmet carrying strap and a second motorcycle helmet carrying strap extended for shoulder-carry of the motorcycle helmet 790 as a backpack. As shown in FIG. 7A, the motorcycle helmet carrying strap assembly 700 comprises a spool assembly 710′, 710″ having a cord 720′, 720″, a fastener assembly 730′, 730″ connected to one end of the cord 720′, 720″, a ring 740′, 740″ connected to the fastener assembly 730′, 730″ and to one end of a band assembly 750; and the motorcycle helmet 790.
  • In an embodiment, the motorcycle helmet carrying system 700 may be used with or without an optional cover assembly 998 installed to carry a motorcycle helmet 990 as a backpack to carry personal items inside the motorcycle helmet. FIG. 7B shows a photograph of rear perspective view of the motorcycle helmet carrying system 700, showing the motorcycle helmet carrying system 700 being used as a backpack.
  • In an embodiment, the method of using a motorcycle helmet carrying system 600 further comprises tucking the first motorcycle helmet carrying strap assembly inside the motorcycle helmet for helmet wear 650.
  • FIG. 8A shows a photograph of inside view of a motorcycle helmet carrying system 800, showing the motorcycle helmet carrying assembly tucked inside the motorcycle helmet 890 for helmet wear. As shown in FIG. 8A, the motorcycle helmet carrying strap assembly (see FIG. 8B-8C) is tucked adjacent to a side portion (e.g., left side) of a liner 894 of the motorcycle helmet 890, showing a first end 860 and a second end 870 of the band assembly 850.
  • In an embodiment, the method of using a motorcycle helmet carrying system 600 further comprises tucking the second motorcycle helmet carrying strap assembly inside the motorcycle helmet for helmet wear 660.
  • FIG. 8B shows an inside view of the motorcycle helmet carrying system 800, showing the motorcycle helmet carrying strap assembly 850 partially extended for hand- or shoulder-carry; and FIG. 8C shows an inside view of the motorcycle helmet carrying system, showing the motorcycle helmet carrying strap assembly fully extended for hand- or shoulder-carry. As shown in FIGS. 8B and 8C, the motorcycle helmet carrying strap assembly 800 comprises a spool assembly 810′, 810″ (not shown) having a cord 820′, 820″, a fastener assembly 830′, 830″ connected to one end of the cord 820′, 820″, a ring 840′, 840″ connected to the fastener assembly 830′, 830″ and to one end of a band assembly 850; and the motorcycle helmet 890.
  • In an embodiment, the method of using a motorcycle helmet carrying system further comprises, fastening an optional cover assembly over an opening of the motorcycle helmet to secure personal items inside the motorcycle helmet 670.
  • FIG. 9 shows an inside view of the motorcycle helmet carrying system with an optional cover assembly 998 installed over an opening 996 of a motorcycle helmet 990 to secure personal items (not shown) inside the motorcycle helmet 990. As shown in FIG. 9, the motorcycle helmet carrying strap assembly 900 comprises a spool assembly 910′, 910″ (not shown) having a cord 920′, 920″, a fastener assembly 930′, 930″ (not shown) connected to one end of the cord 920′, 920″, a ring 940′, 940″ (not shown) connected to the fastener assembly 930′, 930″ (not shown) and to one end of a band assembly 950 (not shown); and the cover assembly 998 comprises a cover 998-10 and a fastener assembly 998-20.
  • In an embodiment, personal items may be any suitable personal items that can fit inside a motorcycle helmet. For example, suitable personal items include, but are not limited to, accessories, clothing, snacks, and combinations thereof. In an embodiment, the cover assembly 998 may secure keys, gloves and snacks inside the motorcycle helmet 990.
  • In an embodiment, the motorcycle helmet may be any suitable helmet. For example, suitable helmets include, but are not limited to, full-face helmets (see FIGS. 5A-5E, & 7-9), half-helmets (aka skull-cap helmets), off-road/motocross helmets, open-face helmets (aka ¾ helmets), modular helmets, and any variations thereof.
  • In the foregoing description of certain embodiments, specific terminology has been resorted to for the sake of clarity. However, the disclosure is not intended to be limited to the specific terms so selected, and it is to be understood that each specific term includes other technical equivalents which operate in a similar manner to accomplish a similar technical purpose. Claims (31)

What is claimed is:
1. A helmet carrying system comprising:
(a) a helmet carrying strap assembly comprising:
i. a first spool assembly having a first cord, adapted to be attached to a helmet;
ii. a second spool assembly having a second cord, adapted to be attached to the helmet;
iii. a band assembly having a first end and a second end;
iv. wherein the first retractable cord is connected to a first fastener assembly, wherein the first fastener assembly is connected to a first ring and wherein the first ring is connected to the first end of the band assembly; and
v. wherein the second retractable cord is connected to a second fastener assembly, wherein the second fastener assembly is connected to a second ring and wherein the second ring is connected to the second end of the band assembly.
2. The helmet carrying system of claim 1, wherein the first spool assembly and the second spool assembly are locking-type spool assemblies.
3. The helmet carrying system of claim 1, wherein the first spool assembly and the second spool assembly are a cylindrical shape from about 1 inch to about 2 inches in diameter and from about 0.20 inches to about 0.30 inches thick.
4. The helmet carrying system of claim 1, wherein the first spool assembly and the second spool assembly are a wafer shape from about 1×1 inch to about 2×2 inches and from about 0.20 inches to about 0.30 inches thick.
5. The helmet carrying system of claim 1, wherein the first cord and the second cord are made of a plastic-coated wire, a metal wire and any combination thereof.
6. The helmet carrying system of claim 1, wherein the first cord and the second cord are made of a plastic-coated steel wire or a steel wire.
7. The helmet carrying system of claim 1, wherein the first cord and the second cord have a length from about 12 inches to about 24 inches.
8. The helmet carrying system of claim 1, wherein the first cord and the second cord have a length from about 17 inches to about 18 inches.
9. The helmet carrying system of claim 1, wherein the first fastener assembly and the second fastener assembly are selected from the group consisting of a ball assembly, a clip assembly, a clip-clamp assembly, a wire-loop assembly, and combinations thereof.
10. The helmet carrying system of claim 1, wherein the first ring and the second ring are selected from the group consisting of D-rings, and any variation thereof.
11. The helmet carrying system of claim 1, wherein the first ring and the second ring are crimped rings, split rings or any variation thereof.
12. The helmet carrying system of claim 1, wherein the first ring and the second ring are made of metal, plastic, and combinations thereof.
13. The helmet carrying system of claim 1, wherein the first fastener assembly and first ring and the second fastener assembly and second ring are a combined hook and ball assembly
14. The helmet carrying system of claim 1, wherein the band assembly is a rectangle with a finished length from about 4 inches to about 16 inches and a width from about 0.5 inches to about 1.5 inches.
15. The helmet carrying system of claim 1, wherein the band assembly has an adjustable finished length from about 4 inches to about 16 inches.
16. The helmet carrying system of claim 1, wherein the first ring is connected to the first end of the band assembly using adhesives, fasteners, staples, stitching, and combinations thereof and wherein the second ring is connected to the second end of the band assembly using adhesives, fasteners, staples, stitching, and combinations thereof.
17. The helmet carrying system of claim 1, wherein the first ring is connected to the first end of the band assembly using a buckle, a grommet, a rivet, and combinations thereof and wherein the second ring is connected to the second end of the band assembly using a grommet, a rivet, and combinations thereof.
18. The helmet carrying system of claim 1, wherein the band assembly is made of fabric, leather, rubber, plastic, and combinations thereof.
19. The helmet carrying system of claim 1, wherein the first spool assembly and the second spool assembly are adapted to be attached to the helmet using adhesives, fasteners, and combinations thereof.
20. The helmet carrying system of claim 1, wherein the first spool assembly and the second spool assembly are adapted to be attached to the helmet using a hook and loop-type fastener with an adhesive.
21. The helmet carrying system of claim 1, wherein the helmet is selected from the group consisting of full-face helmets, half-helmets, off-road/motocross helmets, open-face helmets, modular helmets and any variation thereof.
22. A method of making a helmet carrying system comprising:
(a) providing a first helmet carrying strap assembly having a first spool assembly and a second spool assembly;
(b) fastening the first spool assembly to a front, lower, first-side portion of a helmet; and
(c) fastening the second spool assembly to a rear, lower, first-side portion of the helmet.
23. The method of claim 22 further comprising:
(a) providing a second helmet carrying strap assembly having a third spool assembly and a fourth spool assembly;
(b) fastening the third spool assembly to a front, lower, second-side portion of the helmet; and
(c) fastening the fourth spool assembly to a rear, lower, second-side portion of the helmet.
24. The method of claim 22, wherein step (a-2) comprises: folding out a first-side portion of a liner of the helmet to fasten the first spool assembly and the second spool assembly to an inner surface of the helmet.
25. The method of claim 23, wherein step (a-2) comprises: folding out a second-side portion of a liner of the helmet to fasten the third spool assembly and the fourth spool assembly to an inner surface of the helmet.
26. The method of claim 22 or 23 further comprising: (d) installing an optional cover assembly over an opening of the helmet.
27. A method of using a helmet carrying system comprising:
(a) extending a first helmet carrying strap for hand- or shoulder-carry; and
(b) using the extended first helmet carrying strap to hand- or shoulder-carry a helmet.
28. The method of claim 27 further comprising:
(a) extending a second helmet carrying strap for hand- or shoulder-carry; and
(b) using the extended second helmet carrying strap to hand- or shoulder-carry the helmet.
29. The method of claim 27 further comprising: (c) tucking the first helmet carrying strap assembly inside the helmet for helmet wear.
30. The method of claim 28 further comprising: (c) tucking the second helmet carrying strap assembly inside the helmet for helmet wear.
31. The method of claim 27 or 28 further comprising (c) fastening a cover assembly over an opening of the helmet to secure personal items inside the helmet.
