Claims (31)

  1. An apparatus for preparing a storage roll (01) wound from a web of material for a flying roll change in a machine which processes the web of material, with an adhesive-tape-dispensing device (14) movable transversely with respect to the web of material for applying adhesive tape (29) along an edge of the web of material, wherein a contact roll (33) pressing the adhesive tape (29) against the web of material is arranged so as to guide a cover tape (30) adhering to the adhesive tape (29), characterized in that the adhesive-tape-dispensing device (14) has at least one clamping tool (38; 39) for clamping the web of material in the direction of a longitudinal axis of the storage roll (01), i.e. in the direction of a width of the web of material, and the clamping tool (38; 39) is arranged, with respect to the direction of movement of the adhesive-tape-dispensing device (14) delivering the adhesive tape (29), in front of the contact roll (33) of the adhesive-tape-dispensing device (14) pressing the adhesive tape (29) onto the web of material.
  2. An apparatus according to Claim 1, characterized in that the clamping tool (39) is a roll (39) rolling on the web of material and referred to as the clamping roll (39).
  3. An apparatus according to Claim 2, characterized in that the axis of the clamping roll (39) forms a non-right angle with the direction of movement of the adhesive-tape-dispensing device (14).
  4. An apparatus according to Claim 2, characterized in that the clamping roll (39) and the pressing contact roll (33) are offset with respect to each other transversely to the direction of movement.
  5. An apparatus according to Claim 1, characterized in that the apparatus has a slitter (17, 18, 19) for severing the web of material
  6. An apparatus according to Claim 5, characterized in that the direction of movement of the slitter (17, 18, 19) and the adhesive-tape-dispensing device (14) is at a right angle to the longitudinal edges of the web of material.
  7. An apparatus according to Claim 5, characterized in that the direction of movement of the slitter (17, 18, 19) and the adhesive-tape-dispensing device (14) is at an oblique angle to the longitudinal edges of the web of material.
  8. An apparatus according to Claim 7, characterized in that the inclination of the direction of movement is adjustable.
  9. An apparatus according to Claim 7, characterized in that the direction of movement in one manner of operation is not equal to 90° with respect to the longitudinal edges of the web of material.
  10. An apparatus according to Claim 7, characterized in that the direction of movement in another manner of operation is equal to 90° with respect to the longitudinal edges of the web of material.
  11. An apparatus according to Claim 7, characterized in that the slitter (17, 18, 19) and/ or the adhesive-tape-dispensing device (14) is or are capable of being moved on a rail (12).
  12. An apparatus according to Claim 11, characterized in that the rail (12) is not equal to 90° with respect to the longitudinal edges of the web of material.
  13. An apparatus according to Claim 1, characterized in that the adhesive-tape-dispensing device (14) has a roller (37) driving at least one cover tape (30) of the adhesive tape (29) on its path from the storage roll (28) to the winding roll (34) in a friction-locking manner.
  14. An apparatus according to Claim 1, characterized in that a collecting device (34; 61) is provided for collecting the cover tape (30) which has been severed from the adhesive tape (29).
  15. An apparatus according to Claim 14, characterized in that the collecting device (34) is a winding roll (34) for winding up the cover tape (30).
  16. An apparatus according to Claim 13, characterized in that the driving roller (37) is arranged on the path from the contact roller (33) to the winding roll (34).
  17. An apparatus according to Claim 14, characterized in that the collecting device (61) is a collecting container (61).
  18. An apparatus according to Claim 13 or 17, characterized in that the driving roller (37) is arranged at an inlet opening of the collecting container (61).
  19. An apparatus according to Claim 1, characterized in that the adhesive-tape-dispensing device (14) has a winding roll (34) for winding up the cover tape (30) which has been severed from the adhesive tape (29).
  20. An apparatus according to Claim 19, characterized in that the winding roll (34) is driven with a given advance with respect to the movement of the adhesive tape (29).
  21. An apparatus according to Claim 1 or 20, characterized in that the adhesive-tape-dispensing device (14) has a cutting tool (43) for cutting off the adhesive tape (29) pressed on, and the cutting tool (43) comprises a cutting blade (43) movable at an acute angle with respect to the direction of movement of the adhesive-tape-dispensing device (14).
  22. An apparatus according to Claim 21, characterized in that the cutting speed of the cutting blade (43) is adjustable.
  23. An apparatus according to Claim 22, characterized in that a throttle with adjustable damping is coupled to the cutting blade (43).
  24. An apparatus according to Claim 13, characterized in that a braking device (32) is provided for braking the supply of the adhesive tape (29) to the contact roller (33).
  25. An apparatus according to Claim 24, characterized in that the braking device (32) comprises two clamping jaws (35) arranged on the path of the adhesive tape (29) from the storage roll (28) to the contact roller (33) in order to clamp in the adhesive tape (29) and the cover tape (30).
  26. An apparatus according to Claim 24, characterized in that the braking device (32) is arranged so as to block the supply of the adhesive tape (29) with a time delay after the severing of the adhesive tape (29) by the cutting tool.
  27. An apparatus according to Claim 24, characterized in that when the cutting tool (43) meets the adhesive tape (29) the braking device (32) is arranged so as to have the effect of tautening the adhesive tape (29) but not of blocking it.
  28. An apparatus according to Claim 1, characterized in that the apparatus has a slitter (17, 18, 19) for severing the web of material
  29. An apparatus according to Claim 28, characterized in that the slitter (17, 18, 19) and the adhesive-tape-dispensing device (14), mounted on a common slide (12), form a cutting and adhesive-tape-dispensing device (11).
  30. An apparatus according to Claim 29, characterized in that during a movement of the cutting and adhesive-tape-dispensing device (11) over the web of material in a first direction the slitter (17, 18, 19) severs the web of material and during a subsequent movement of the cutting and adhesive-tape-dispensing device (11) in the opposite direction the adhesive-tape-dispensing device (14) applies the adhesive tape (29).
  31. An apparatus according to Claim 29, characterized in that a reflex foil dispenser (16) is arranged on the common rails (12).
