Definitions

  • the present invention is related to a bottom belt or apron control device in roving frame drawing trains.
  • Roving frames are provided with a drawing train for the corresponding roving for each production spindle.
  • Each drawing train has several freely rotating pressure rollers associated to a drawing arm located on a fixed pedestal with the ability of being moved between an inoperative position and an operative position in which the pressure rollers act tangentially against roving drawing rollers.
  • drawing trains have a top apron or belt associated to the drawing arm and a bottom apron or belt assembled on one of the bottom rollers for each production spindle.
  • These aprons or belts serve to accompany the slivers entering the drawing train during the production process until obtaining the roving.
  • top and bottom aprons are generally arranged in the second or third drawing line, and the drawing system can have three or four lines.
  • the top and bottom aprons In the working position, the top and bottom aprons can be vertically aligned or one can be slightly ahead of the other, depending on the characteristics of the drawing to be performed.
  • both aprons occurs as a result of the pressure exerted by the cylinders or rollers supporting them, such that the top and bottom aprons are pressed together at the point of contact between both rollers.
  • the bottom roller made of steel, to be motor-driven so as to cause the forward movement of the bottom apron, and that the roller associated to the top apron rotates freely, such that both aprons move forward due to the action of the motor-driven roller on the bottom apron, transmitting movement to the top apron.
  • the bottom apron has a reduced length and is assembled on the drawing roller and on a support profile with a shape similar to the top apron; in other cases the bottom apron has a greater length and is assembled on the drawing roller, on the support profile and on a bottom tensioner which is normally spring-operated.
  • the purpose of this tensioner is to keep the apron in its correct position and to assure, in the event that the apron should become jammed, that it cannot become creased, which would cause it to break.
  • tensioners currently used are individual spring-operated tensioners and are assembled on a support rail.
  • the same rail is used as a support point and the apron slides due to friction over the end part of the tensioner, this being the main cause of the jams in the apron.
  • This support rail for the tensioners is fixed on the fixed pedestal and is therefore independent of the supports or brackets holding the drawing cylinders.
  • This feature entails a drawback upon changing the position of the brackets or supports of the drawing cylinders on the pedestal so as to adjust the carding or drawing since the tensioner does not move, but rather it changes the tension of the apron, causing an unwanted effect.
  • the bottom belt or apron control device in the roving frame drawing trains object of the invention of the type comprising a drive roller for drafting one or more bottom aprons and a support profile for said bottom aprons, the drive roller and the support profile being assembled on a support or bracket that is positioned and fixed on a fixed pedestal, has several special constructive features aimed at eliminating the bottom tensioners, the assembly and adjustment drawbacks these imply and the variation of the tension of the bottom aprons when the position of the brackets or supports varies with respect to the respective fixed pedestals.
  • control device object of the invention comprises a bottom roller allowing the support thereon of one or several bottom aprons, considerably simplifying the construction of the roving frame, and which is fixed either directly or indirectly to the supports or brackets of the drive roller and support profile, kept a fixed distance from the drive roller and the support profile, such that when the position of said supports or brackets varies with respect to the respective pedestals so as to change the drawing conditions, said bottom roller is moved together with the brackets and accordingly with the drive roller and the support profile assembled thereon.
  • This feature assures that the trajectory of the bottom aprons stays fixed, that the length of said trajectory remains invariable and that the tension of the bottom aprons supported on the drive roller, the support profile and the bottom roller is not modified when the position of the brackets or supports changes with respect to the fixed pedestals.
  • the bottom roller can be assembled on an auxiliary part fixed to the bracket supporting the drive roller and the support profile of the bottom aprons or belts.
  • said auxiliary part and the bracket are assembled on opposite surfaces of the pedestal and fixed to one another by means of a clamping member which fixes them by means of pressure on the fixed pedestal, such that when the position of the bracket varies with respect to the fixed pedestal the bottom roller moves at the same time, said bottom roller maintaining the same relative position with respect to the support or bracket and accordingly with respect to the drive roller and the support profile of the bottom apron or belt, without altering the tension of the bottom apron or belt.
  • the bottom roller can be a freely rotating roller or it can be linked to the drive roller by means of a transmission forcing it to rotate simultaneously with said drive roller and with the same linear velocity.
  • One of the roving frame drawing trains comprising a fixed pedestal (1) and a collapsible drawing arm (2), shown in the operating position, can be seen in Figure 1.
  • Pressure rollers (3) and a top apron (4) associated to one of said rollers are assembled on the drawing arm (2).
  • bottom apron (6) is assembled on a drive roller (7), a support profile (8) and a bottom roller (9), which are kept in a fixed relative position.
  • the drive roller (7) and the support profile (8) are assembled on a support or bracket (10) whereas the bottom roller (9) is assembled on an auxiliary part (11) which is fixed to the bracket (10) by means of a clamping screw (12).
  • the bracket or support (10) and the auxiliary part (11) are respectively assembled on the top area and bottom area of a guide of the fixed pedestal (1), the clamping screw (12) passing through a longitudinal groove (13) defined in said guide of the pedestal (1), such that by loosening the screw (12), the bottom apron or belt (6) control device assembly can move with respect to the pedestal (1), and when the screw (12) is again tightened, the device is immobilized in the desired area, the bottom cylinder (9) returning to the same relative position with respect to the drive roller (7) and the support profile (8), without changing the trajectory or the tension of the bottom apron (6).
  • the auxiliary part (11) supporting the bottom roller (9) can have a top extension with a seating (14) for supporting a transverse profile (15) having U-shaped guides (16), the purpose of which is to prevent lateral movement of the bottom apron (6), assuring the support thereof on the corresponding knurled area of the drive roller (7), as shown in Figure 2.
  • the bottom roller (9) can have a great length so as to assure support thereon of a larger or smaller number of bottom aprons (6), and that said bottom roller (9) can be a freely rotating roller or can be linked to the drive roller (7) by means of a transmission device, such that it rotates at the same linear velocity as said drive roller (7).
  • Figure 6 shows an embodiment example of this transmission consisting of an intermediate pinion (17) transmitting the rotation of pinion (18), associated to the drive roller (7), to pinion (19) associated to the bottom roller (9).
  • the bottom apron or belt (6) control device can be fixed in the desired position on the fixed pedestal (1) and its position can subsequently be changed without causing any change whatsoever in the relative position of the bottom roller (9) with respect to the drive roller (7) and the support profile (8) and without changing the trajectory or tension of the bottom apron or belt (6).
