Eine zweite Richtung der Dekore strebt das Nachbilden von Dielen an, solche Paneele werden üblicherweise als Landhaus-Dielen bezeichnet. Landhaus-Dielen sind -bedingt durch das Dekor- länger als übliche Paneele; sie werden auch als Lang-Paneele bezeichnet. Eine solche Quernut schafft eine überzeugende, realistisch wirkende und daher hochwertige optische Abgrenzung von Dekoreinheiten. Die optische Abgrenzung soll besonders bei hochwertigen Produkten möglichst echt wirken. Hier stellt der Einschnitt, der in der Quernut bis unter den Nutgrund in das Paneel hineinreicht, eine überraschend "echt" wirkende Aufwertung des Paneels dar, denn es entsteht der Eindruck, dass hier getrennte Abschnitte aneinander gefügt werden. Der Einschnitt muss nicht besonders tief sein, nur wenige mm oder 1/10 mm unterhalb des Nutgrunds genügen, um dem Betrachter den Eindruck zu vermitteln, dass hier zwei separate Paneele aneinander gefügt wurden. Üblich sind Einschnitte in einer Tiefe von 2/10 mm bis 3 mm unter den Nutgrund. Die Stabilität des Paneels wird nicht wesentlich geschwächt, denn trotz der Quernut und des Einschnitts ist das Paneel steif genug, um wie üblich transportiert und verlegt zu werden.
