- OLEDs organic light-emitting diodes
- OLEDs organic light-emitting diodes
- the property of materials is exploited to emit light when they are excited by electric current.
- OLEDs are of particular interest as an alternative to cathode ray tubes and liquid crystal displays for the production of flat panel displays.
- OLEDs An overview of OLEDs is disclosed, for example, in M.T. Bernius et al., Adv. Mat. 2000, 12, 1737.
- the requirements for the compounds used are high and it usually does not succeed with the known materials to meet all the requirements set.
- polymeric electroluminescent materials in addition to inorganic and low molecular weight organic electroluminescent materials, the prior art also describes the use of polymeric electroluminescent materials in OLEDs which have a film of a conjugated polymer as the light-emitting layer.
- polymeric materials can be applied from solution, for example by spin coating or dipping, which makes it possible to produce large-area displays simply and inexpensively.
- WO 90/13148 relates to OLEDs containing polymers based on poly (p-phenylene-vinylene) (PPV). Such polymers are particularly suitable for electroluminescence in the red and green spectral range. In the blue spectral range, derivatives of poly (fluorene) (PF) are usually used. Poly (fluorene) derivatives having spiro centers are disclosed, for example, in EP-A-0 707 020.
- PPV and PF derivatives usually have satisfactory optical properties such as emission color and quantum yield of the emission, they generally lack the required long-term stability. The reasons for this range from morphological instability via excimer formation to oxidative degradation of the chromophore.
- DE-A 40 24 647 relates to aromatic condensation products, it being possible for the condensation products to be 1, 4-linked naphthalene units. These condensation products are prepared either by Grignard reaction of naphthyl bromides with brominated naphthalene derivatives or by reaction of naphthalene borates with brominated naphthalene derivatives. The aromatic condensation products are suitable as materials for heat insulation and as electrode materials. The use in OLEDs is not mentioned.
- the object of the present invention is to provide further polynaphthalene derivatives which are suitable for use in OLEDs, in particular as emitter molecules, have a long service life, are highly efficient in OLEDs, have an emission maximum in the blue region and have a high quantum efficiency. Furthermore, it is an object of the present invention to provide a process for the preparation of such poly-naphthalenes.

Description
Synthese von Polynaphthalinen und ihre Verwendung
Beschreibung

J. Org. Chem. 1999, 643 offenbart:
EtOH, EtONa, RBr
R = Alkyl
R = Alkyl
Bor-haltigen Rest der Formel -B(O-[C(R7)2]n-O oder B(OR7)2 und R7, R7' unabhängig voneinander, gleich oder verschieden H oder C1-C20-AIkVl; n eine ganze Zahl von 2 bis 10;

CH=CH2, -C≡CH, (E)- oder (Z)- CH=CH-C6H5, Acryloyl, Methacryloyl, ortho- Methylstyryl, para-Methylstyryl, -0-CH=CH2, Glycidyl,

Beispiele für geeignete Lochtransportmaterialien sind zum Beispiel in JP-A 63070257, JP-A 63175860, JP-A 2 135 359, JP-A 2 135 361 , JP-A 2 209 988, JP-A 3 037 992 und JP-A 3 152 184 genannt.
Beispiele für geeignete Elektronen transportierende Materialien sind zum Beispiel in JP-A 63070257, JP-A 63 175860, JP-A 2 135 359, JP-A 2 135 361 , JP-A 2 209 988, JP-A 3 037 992 und JP-A 3 152 184 offenbart.
Phys., Vol. 94, No. 1 , 1 JuIy 2003, p-dotierte organische Schich¬ ten) und A. G. Werner, F. Li, K. Harada, M. Pfeiffer, T. Fritz, K. Leo, Appl. Phys. Lett., Vol. 82, No. 25, 23 June 2003; Pfeiffer et al., Organic Electronics 2003, 4, 89 - 103) offenbart.
In einer weiteren Ausführungsform enthält das erfindungsgemäße OLED zusätzlich zu den Schichten (1) bis (5) mindestens eine der im Folgenden genannten weiteren Schichten: eine Loch-Injektionsschicht zwischen der Anode (1) und der Löcher¬ transportierenden Schicht (2); - eine Blockschicht für Elektronen und/oder Excitonen zwischen der Löcher¬ transportierenden Schicht (2) und der Licht-emittierenden Schicht (3); eine Blockschicht für Löcher und/oder Excitonen zwischen der Licht-emittierenden Schicht (3) und der Elektronen-transportierenden Schicht (4);
