Description

The technical field of the invention is that of weapons assemblies and in particular that of naval weapons assemblies of small or medium caliber, that is to say whose caliber is between 12.7mm and 45 mm.

The weapons assemblies used in the naval field are usually constituted by a turret carrying the weapon and pivotally mounted relative to a base integral with the deck of the ship.

The known turrets have a large mass (of the order of 700 kg) which limits their use to large vessels.

Furthermore, the pedestals are generally bulky because they house the motorization means and electronic control boxes of the turret.

It is not possible to reduce the vertical bulk of these turrets except to pierce the deck of the ship to hide the base below the deck, which is not usually possible when seeking to equip an existing ship.

Although bulky, the pedestals offer limited access to the electronic housings they contain and the engines.

Licences GB-539775 and GB-684 723 describe such known arrangements which are bulky vertically.

We also know by US2451614 , which forms a base for the preamble of claim 1, a carriage comprising vertical arms integral with a pivotally mounted plate on a fixed base. Pivoting is provided by wheels that run on a track carried by the base. Such an arrangement is complex and fragile. It is unsuitable for a naval environment.

The object of the invention is to propose a mounting of reduced mass weapon and also reduced height which increases its stealth and facilitates its implementation on ships of low tonnage.

Another object of the invention is to facilitate nevertheless the maintenance of the weapon assembly by allowing easy access to all equipment and housings.

Thus the invention relates to a weapon assembly comprising a cradle supporting the weapon and pivotally mounted on journals secured to a carriage, carriage itself pivotable relative to a base around a substantially vertical axis, the carriage comprising a fork comprising two substantially vertical panels, each panel being integral with a bushing, mounting characterized in that the bushing is disposed facing each panel and pivotally mounted on at least two bearings relative to a cylinder secured to the base, the cylinder penetrating into the socket.

Each panel will advantageously consist of a mechanically welded assembly comprising a peripheral edge integral with at least one plate.

Each panel can be connected to the socket by at least two ribs.

The panels will preferably be connected to each other by at least one bar or plate disposed at an upper half of the panels.

The cradle may comprise two arms connecting two slides, one of the arms being disposed substantially at the level of the trunnions.

The weapon assembly may also comprise a stiffener arranged laterally to one of the panels, stiffener comprising arms bearing at an upper portion of the panel and on the sleeve substantially at each bearing.

The stiffener may be supported on a substantially horizontal plate and secured to the sleeve, plate carrying a first geared motor ensuring the pivoting of the fork relative to the base.

A panel may carry a second geared motor ensuring the pivoting of the cradle relative to the trunnions.

The cradle may then carry a toothed sector co-operating with a pinion carried by the second geared motor, toothed sector extended by at least one bearing surface cooperating with an abutment carried by the panel.

At least one of the panels may carry a pivoting cowling providing access to the panel to allow maintenance operations.

The invention will be better understood on reading the following description of a particular embodiment, a description given with reference to the appended drawings and in which:
  • the figure 1 is an external perspective view of the weapon assembly according to the invention,
  • the Figures 2a and 2b are two perspective views of the mounting of weapon rollovers removed, the figure 2a being a three-quarter front right view and the figure 2b a three-quarter front left view,
  • the figures 3a and 3b are two perspective views of the weapon assembly rollovers removed and disassembled weapon, the figure 3a being a three-quarter front right view and the figure 3b a rear three-quarter view right,
  • the Figures 4a and 4b are two perspective views of the assembly of weapon rollovers, weapon and cradle removed, the figure 4a being a three-quarter front right view and the figure 4b a three-quarter front left view,
  • the figure 5 is a sectional view of the assembly, weapon removed, the section being made in a vertical plane passing through the trunnions,
  • the figure 6 is a sectional view of the assembly, weapon withdrawn, the section being made in a vertical plane perpendicular to the plane of the section of the figure 5 , plane passing through the vertical pivot axis of the fork.

Elle est ici équipée d'un viseur optronique 5.The weapon 1 is not the object of the present invention and will not be described in detail. It is here equipped with an optronic viewfinder 5.

The Figures 2a and 2b show the same assembly after removal of the side cowls 6a and 6b. The weapon is mounted on a cradle 7 of which only a rear portion is visible in these two figures. The cradle is represented more fully in figures 3a and 3b as well as on sections 5 and 6 (in these figures the weapon is removed).

The cradle 7 thus comprises two arms 8 and 9 connected by a support sector 35 (see FIG. figure 6 ). The arms carry on each side slides 10a and 10b each comprising a rear brake, brakes whose rods 11 are attached to the weapon. The latter slides when firing on the slides 10a, 10b. The rigidity of the cradle 7 is improved by a front flange 12 which caps the arm 8 at the level of the trunnions 13 (see figure 3a , 3b and 6 ). The flange 12 is not represented on the figure 5 which is a section because it is not in the section plane.

The trunnions 13 and materialize a substantially horizontal axis 14 around which the weapon 4 can tilt to allow pointing in site.

The fork 3 can also itself pivot relative to the base 2 about a substantially vertical axis 15. This pivoting allows the pointing of the weapon in the field.

According to the invention, the fork 3 is formed of two substantially vertical panels 16a and 16b. Each panel 16a, 16b is also secured to a socket 17 which is pivotally mounted relative to a cylinder 18 secured to the base 2 (see FIG. figures 5 and 6 ). The bushing 17 is thus disposed facing each panel 16a, 16b and the cylinder 18 enters the bushing 17.

Un roulement 19 étant disposé sensiblement à chaque extrémité du cylindre 18.Pivoting is ensured by mounting at least two bearings 19 interposed between the sleeve 17 and the cylinder 18. A bearing 19 being disposed substantially at each end of the cylinder 18.

Les nervures s'étendent verticalement sur sensiblement toute la hauteur de la douille 17.As this is particularly visible Figures 4a and 4b each panel 16a, 16b is formed by a mechanically welded assembly comprising a peripheral edge B integral with at least one plate P. Each panel carries a pin 13 at its upper end and is secured to the sleeve 17 by radial ribs 20 welded to the panel 16a, 16b considered and to the sleeve 17. There are here four ribs 20 regularly distributed angularly, two ribs per panel 16. The ribs extend vertically over substantially the entire height of the sleeve 17.

To increase the rigidity of the assembly, at least one bar 21 is provided which connects the two panels 16a, 16b to one another. This bar 21 is disposed at an upper half of the panels and welded to the edge B of the latter. One could replace the bar 21 by a plate.

The bar 21 is at a front portion of the assembly. It is outside the cowlings 6a and 6b and can serve as a manual handle of the fork (see figure 1 ). There will be provided holding handles 37 disposed at the rear portion of the mounting (a handle on each panel 16a, 16b).

On pourra également prévoir d'autres barres 22 pour tenir les caisses à munition (voir figure 2b). Ces barres seront disposées horizontalement entre un bord et l'autre de la bordure B.Other bars 22 may also be provided to hold the ammunition boxes (see FIG. figure 2b ). These bars will be arranged horizontally between one edge and the other of the border B.

Par ailleurs, conformément à l'invention, on prévoira un raidisseur 23 disposé latéralement à un des panneaux (ici le panneau 16b).Furthermore, according to the invention, there will be provided a stiffener 23 disposed laterally to one of the panels (here the panel 16b).

This stiffener 23 consists of a cut sheet and comprises four arms, three of which bear on the fork 3 (see FIG. figure 5 ).

Un premier bras 23a vient en appui au niveau d'une partie supérieure du panneau 16b auquel il est relié par vis, sensiblement en dessous du tourillon 13.A first arm 23a bears at an upper part of the panel 16b to which it is connected by screws, substantially below the pin 13.

Il permet de rigidifier la plaque horizontale 24.A fourth arm 23d finally, substantially vertical, is supported and screwed on a substantially horizontal plate 24 and secured to the sleeve 17. This fourth arm is optional. It makes it possible to stiffen the horizontal plate 24.

Such a stiffener geometry makes it possible to transmit to the bushing 17 the lateral forces experienced by the fork 3 at the level of the trunnions 13, and this whatever the direction of the forces. However, the logging must be done in such a way as to allow the transmission of axial efforts. This transmission of forces along the axis of the trunnions is provided by the arm 8 and the flange 12. Such an arrangement ensures sufficient rigidity with a reduced mass. It is particularly unnecessary to provide a stiffener on each panel, a single stiffener is sufficient to ensure the desired rigidity for the entire fork.

The geared motor 25 comprises a gear 26 which meshes with a ring gear 27 integral with the base 2 (the representation of the gears and the crown is here schematic and the teeth are not shown).

The panel 16b carries a second geared motor 28 which makes it possible to pivot the cradle 7 with respect to the trunnions 13 ( figure 4a ).

This geared motor 28 thus comprises a pinion 29 which meshes with a toothed sector 30 integral with the cradle 7.

The toothed sector 30 is more particularly visible at the figure 6 . It is carried by the support sector 35 of the cradle 7 which is a single piece connecting the front arms 8 and rear 9 of the cradle 7. The sector 30 is extended by two bearing surfaces 31 and 32 which are each intended to cooperate with a stop 33, 34 carried by the panel 16b.

Une telle disposition simplifie le montage de la fourcheThis ensures extremely simple end stops of the pivoting of the cradle 7 relative to the fork 3. Such an arrangement simplifies the assembly of the fork

Il en est de même du boîtier électronique de commande 36 (voir figure 2a).It can be seen that the weapon assembly according to the invention comprises a base 2 of reduced height and that all the control members (motor reducers 25, 28) are arranged outside the base at the level of the panel 16b. It is the same with the electronic control unit 36 (see figure 2a ).

In addition to improving the mechanical strength of the assembly, the rack structure of each panel 16a, 16b, that is to say a structure associating a border B integral with at least one plate P, also facilitates the assembly of components or organs on the panel without impairing its mechanical strength.

Accessibility to these bodies and housings for maintenance is also extremely easy. Just provide a pivoting cowling 6a, 6b integral with each panel ( figure 1 ). Each cowling will be articulated on hinges fixed to the edge B of the panel considered.

Ammunition bins may also be disposed at the level of the panel 16a behind the cowling 6a, fixed to the bars 22. The ammunition carrying capacity is important and the panel 16b has no stiffener which facilitates the placement of the bins. .

The weapon assembly according to the invention is therefore very compact and easy to maintain. The compactness can also be modulated by varying the height of the cylinder 17 bearing the bearings and the associated socket 18. Furthermore, the design proposed by the invention greatly reduces the mass of the assembly. It is thus possible to substantially divide by two the mass of a particular carriage. The assembly according to the invention thus has a mass of about 350 kg with 200 ammunition for a weapon caliber of 20 mm against a mass of nearly 700 kg for known carriages.
