Abstract

539,775. Gun mountings. KENDALL, W. D., and BRITISH MANUFACTURE & RESEARCH CO., Ltd. Nov. 16, 1939, No. 30222. [Class 92 (i)] Relates to turntable mountings for automatic magazine-fed guns of the kind in which the trunnion axis 28 is situated to the rear of the turntable axis 26, the rear walls 25<SP>1</SP> of the carriage cheeks 25 being vertical or sloped at a small angle to the vertical to prevent fouling of the magazine 31 at high angles of elevation. According to the invention the cheeks 25 are strengthened by webs 27 extending to the edge of the turntable and arranged in the plane of the trunnion axis.
